Winding Refn to Shoot 'Drive' Next, Also Talks Wonder Woman
The last we heard about any upcoming project from director Nicolas Winding Refn pegged him to next write, produce and direct his neo-western Only God Forgives, a Bangkok-set modern western about a Thai police lieutenant and a gangster settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match. This project was in place of a previously reported adaptation of James Sallis' novel Drive, which centers on a Hollywood stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver in heists. Well, The Playlist says he's back to directing Drive as his next project and first Hollywood feature, and funding is in place to shoot Only God Forgives.

Slater, Oldman & Cook Are All About 'Guns, Girls & Gambling'
In what might be one of the strangest assemblies of talent in recent news, Heat Vision says that Christian Slater, Gary Oldman and someone's fraternity brother Dane Cook will star in the stylized crime thriller Guns, Girls & Gambling from writer/director Michael Winnick. And if you think the casting combination is a bit strange, well the story throws it into overdrive too, as the film is said to involve Elvis impersonators, Indians, modern cowboys, a 6-foot-tall blond assassin, a frat boy (irony!), a corrupt sheriff and a prostitute in a chase for a priceless American Indian artifact stolen during a poker game at an Indian casino. What?!

Fairy Tale Characters Headed to Theaters in a 'Legends' Movie
With the ensemble superhero feature The Avengers on the somewhat distant horizon, it looks like the comic book adaptation may have already started a new trend with teams of familiar characters joining forces for a feature film. We've already heard about one upcoming project - DreamWorks' adaptation of The Guardians, a story that has an assembly of imaginary icons like Jack Frost and the Easter Bunny protecting kids from the forces of evil. Now Heat Vision reports another similar project is being put together in Legends, which pits together characters like Red Riding Hood, Jack the Giant Killer and Hansel & Gretel in a dark fantasy.

Casting Tidbits: Nic Cage, Lauren Graham & Leonardo DiCaprio
Let's say this Casting Tidbit represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Casting Tidbit thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds. First up, Variety reports Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage will star in Trespass, another Joel Schumacher project as he continues trying to make up for the mistakes of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. The story centers on a husband and wife taken hostage by four brutal perpetrators seeking some easy cash but complications arise amid the unexpected discovery of betrayal and deception.

Interview: Pixar's Toy Story 3 Director & Editor - Lee Unkrich
Tomorrow, Pixar's long awaited, highly anticipated sequel Toy Story 3 arrives in theaters nationwide. The movie wouldn't be what it is without the steady, sophisticated and genuine direction (and editing) from Lee Unkrich. Unkrich started working at Pixar years ago as an editor on Toy Story and after co-directing a few other Pixar movies, finally made his solo debut with Toy Story 3. I thankfully got to talk with Unkrich last week and asked as much as I could in the 15 minutes of time I was given, as he's a director I've been anxious to talk to. We still covered quite a bit of ground and I learned lots of cool stuff about Toy Story 3. Read on!

Watch: Brand New, Awesome UK Trailer for Scott Pilgrim Hits!
Fight! Thanks to our friends from the UK at the great HeyUGuys blog, we have a brand new UK trailer for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to feature today. It has quite a bit of new footage, mostly at the beginning, and a bit near the end, including: some full scenes with Scott's naggy (ex-)girlfriend Knives Chau (played by Ellen Wong) plus some hilarious lines from evil-ex #3 - Todd Ingram (played by Brandon Routh). I think I'm most looking forward to seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead melt the hearts of millions of guys (including me) than anything else, except maybe the fight scenes?. But I've said enough - fire it up!

Fully British Cast Announced for Spielberg's 'War Horse' Movie
Although we've heard a few rumors in the last few weeks about actors lined up for Steven Spielberg's next movie, War Horse, a fully finalized cast (of at least 14 actors) has finally been announced today on Empire. The lead role of Albert, the owner/friend of the titular horse, which was thought to be a lock for actor Eddie Redmayne, will actually be played by young British actor Jeremy Irvine, of only a UK TV show called "Life Bites" previously, but he's starred in shows at the National Youth Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. Tom Hiddleston, as announced last week, is also officially in. So who else has Spielberg cast in War Horse?

Miley Cyrus Takes the Lead in the Paranormal Thriller 'Wake'
You ready to see a darker side of Miley Cyrus? THR reports that Cyrus is attached to an adaptation of Lisa McMann's young-adult paranormal thriller novel titled Wake that Paramount and MTV Films are adapting. The studio has hired Christopher Landon (Blood & Chocolate, Disturbia) to write the script. Cyrus will play Janie, a 17-year-old girl with the unwanted ability to become sucked into people's dreams. Not surprisingly, she sees things she would rather not see. But when she gets pulled into a terrible nightmare, Janie goes from mere witness to participant. Sounds like Inception meets Nightmare on Elm Street meets, uh, Miley Cyrus.

Sunshine Writer Alex Garland Writing the Logan's Run Remake
One of my favorite sci-fi movies of the last few years is Sunshine, directed by Danny Boyle, and written by British writer Alex Garland. Garland also wrote the scripts for Boyle's The Beach and 28 Days Later, as well as the upcoming Never Let Me Go directed by Mark Romanek, so he's quite a prominent writer. He's currently working on the Judge Dredd reboot/remake, but you can add another exciting project to his line up. Warner Bros has hired Garland (news via Heat Vision) to write the Logan's Run remake/reboot that Carl Rinsch will direct in his feature debut. Sounds like a truly great combination of talent behind this.

Danny McBride Lines Up Yet Another New Comedy - 'Bullies'
Since skyrocketing onto the scene with The Foot Fist Way, the hilarious Danny McBride has had a rather fruitful career in some big comedies alongside established comedic talents like Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen and Ben Stiller. With his Rough House production banner, co-founded with longtime friends and collaborators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, he's been able to line up plenty more projects down the line. THR has news on yet another comedy for McBride as Mandate Pictures has picked up Bullies, an original comedy based on an idea from McBride with writers Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul (Yes Man) penning the script.

Anton Corbijn's The American Gets a Fantastic Vintage Poster
This looks fantastic. Focus Features has unveiled via Apple the official poster for Anton Corbijn's new film The American starring George Clooney as a hitman who is hiding out in Italy on his last assignment. We already saw the trailer back in May but this new poster is a true delight to discover today. It has a vintage, classic kind of feel to it, like this is a hitman movie straight from the 70's. I love the little Shawkshank-like pose hidden in the title as well. It's a great poster for a film that I am very much looking forward to seeing this fall. We'll keep you updated on The American leading up to its release this September. Check this out!

Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader First Trailer
You're adventure begins now! You've gotta love Chronicles of Narnia fans. The fans of MundoNarnia (via SlashFilm) just dug up the first full trailer for Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the second sequel in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise (which started with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005). This time the four siblings end up taking a journey on a ship called the Dawn Treader, which takes them to all kinds of spectacular places. This definitely looks like a strong return to the magical world of Narnia that fans have been waiting for. I actually think this looks pretty damn good. Check it out!
