Originally on display at the MCM London Expo a few weeks back, a series of six character posters for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs the World, one for each of Ramona's seven evil ex-boyfriends (she dated twins once), have finally ended up online in high res. We've got: #1 Matthew Pattel (Satya Bhabha), #2 Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), #3 Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), #4 Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman), #5 & #6 Kyle and Ken Katayanagi, and #7 Gideon Graves (Jason Schwartzman). Jonathan Liebesman Might Be Directing Clash of the Titans 2

Jonathan Liebesman

As we learned in April, although the Clash of the Titans remake made $487 million worldwide, director Louis Leterrier decided that he would not return to direct the sequel that Warner Bros had quickly greenlit. We have been waiting to find out who they would choose to direct instead and word is, according to the LA Times, that up-and-coming director Jonathan Liebesman (Darkness Falls, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Killing Room) is their top contender. Liebesman is currently in post-production on the sci-fi alien invasion action film Battle: Los Angeles, which I've heard some incredible things about already.

Legendary Sets Up 'Technotise' Movie, Inspired by Faux Trailer

Technotise

Another victory for the little guys! Heat Vision says that Legendary Pictures has picked up the rights to a live-action remake of a Serbian animated film called Technotise. The reason this has some buzz is because a regular non-industry guy named Jaron Pitts made one of those "faux" trailers for it (the same guy who did Green Lantern years ago, too). I've added the trailer below because you just need to check it out - it's pretty frickin' awesome. Legendary picked this up based on a pitch by Shutter Island writer Laeta Kalogridis, who also worked on Avatar and is writing the live-action Ghost in the Shell for DreamWorks & Spielberg.

Casting Tidbits: Geoffrey Rush, Jennifer Garner & Stana Katic

Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Jennifer Garner, Stana Katic

So, Peter, what's happening? Aahh, now, are you going to go ahead and have those Casting Bits for us this afternoon? First up, Variety confirms news that we heard way back in September by officially announcing that Geoffrey Rush will reprise his role as conniving pirate Captain Hector Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Rush is one of only a handful of actors returning from the original film, let alone the entire franchise, along with fan favorite Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Surely there will be plenty of room for witty banter between the two pirates in their pursuit of the Fountain of Youth.

Review: The Remarkable Winter's Bone Chills to the Very Soul

Winter's Bone Review

This review originally ran on WeAreMovieGeeks.com during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is a re-posting in honor of the film's limited release this weekend. Visit the official site for more.

The amount that goes unspoken in Winter's Bone, the new film from Debra Granik (of Down to the Bone), is vast. A sort of film noir set in poverty stricken, rural Missouri, the film is a true powerhouse of emotion, thrilling and daring in all the right places and trimmed through and through with top-notch performances.

Scott Rudin Wants Angelina Jolie for a New Cleopatra Biopic

Angelina Jolie / Cleopatra

She's going epic. Found in a USA Today update (via Collider) today was a very brief but interesting mention about an adaptation of historical biography called Cleopatra: A Life, written by Stacy Schiff. Apparently Oscar winning producer Scott Rudin has optioned the rights and is working on an adaptation that "is being developed for and with [Angelina] Jolie." So now there's some casting buzz today that Angelina Jolie may play Cleopatra in this. Schiff says "physically, she's the perfect look," even though earlier she mentions that "we have little idea of what she actually looked like." So we just pick the most attractive actress we can find!

Story Details for Transformers 3 from USA Today's Set Visit!

Transformers

Time to get excited about next summer (even though we're not even done with this summer)! Friend and colleague Anthony Breznican of USA Today recently visited the set of Transformers 3, which is currently shooting all around Los Angeles. Not only did they talk about how big of a misstep Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was: "I'll take some of the criticism," says Bay, "It was very hard to put (the sequel) together that quickly after the writers' strike." But they also reveal new details about Transformers 3, which doesn't have a fancy name yet, like that it delves into the 60's space race between the USSR and the USA. Read on!

Vincenzo Natali Confirmed to Direct Neuromancer Adaptation

Neuromancer

Seven Arts Pictures released a press release (via Quiet Earth) today officially announcing that filmmaker Vincenzo Natali will be directing their upcoming adaptation of William Gibson's seminal science fiction novel Neuromancer. It was first revealed a couple of weeks ago that Natali was the latest to step into the director's chair after Joseph Kahn (Torque) had developed a version of the film for a few years, apparently with Hayden Christensen attached. This new version is set to go into pre-production early next year up in Toronto, but we don't know how soon it will start shooting, since I'm guessing it has a very long way to go.

WTF? MGM's Red Dawn Remake May Be Delayed Indefinitely

Red Dawn

Uh oh, this isn't good. An article popped up in the LA Times today (via SlashFilm) containing some bad (or potentially good) news: MGM's remake of Red Dawn has been delayed. Yes, I'm sure there are those of you who will rejoice over news that another remake of an 80's movie being shelved, but I actually wanted to see this movie, it had the potential to be pretty badass (at least from what I heard about it). Especially because some of the controversy surrounding the movie now involves the decision to make the Chinese the bad guys in this version. As in, the Chinese invade America and we have to fight back. Doesn't make everyone happy.

Guillermo del Toro Behind Another New 'Van Helsing' Movie

Guillermo del Toro

Well, this is interesting. Pajiba is reporting that Universal Pictures is developing another Van Helsing movie - that Guillermo del Toro wrote a treatment for is and is developing at his production company. Whoa! I think it's safe to assume that this is not the reason why he left The Hobbit, but it is an interesting development nonetheless. I trust Pajiba, as they haven't missed a story in a long time, but this just seems like a new development in the "Hollywood cog" (as they say), not necessarily GdT's next big project that got him off Hobbit. I guess the good news is that this is not a remake of that 2004 atrocity with Hugh Jackman.

Watch: ET's Bland Behind-the-Scenes Video for Marvel's Thor

Marvel's Thor

I really frickin' hate Entertainment Tonight. But this is our very first look at any actual footage or anything, besides that one photo, from Marvel's Thor. Unfortunately, the people who edited this footage, and that reporter they sent to the set to do interview, are all big idiots. This whole thing feels like it was made by a 5th grader who has never heard of a comic book before in his life. Anyway, it does include a few seconds of footage, our first look at Anthony Hopkins as Odin (wearing an eye patch?), Natalie Portman appearances, and a long, boring talk with Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. And Kenneth Branagh is there, too. Have fun!

Weta Workshop Behind New Animatronic 'Wind in the Willows'

Wind in the Willows

Whoa, this might be pretty cool. Variety has announced that RG Entertainment is developing a "live-action and animatronics version" of The Window and the Willows, Kenneth Grahame's classic 1908 fairy tale. The film will start shooting this fall down in New Zealand with Peter Jackson's visual effects company Weta Workshop on-board to create the animals. Director Ray Griggs (of Super Capers, I Want Your Money) will helm and produce with a $30 million budget. The script was penned by Deja Vu writer Bill Marsilii, who recently sold a big sci-fi script he co-wrote with Terry Rossio to Jerry Bruckheimer. So far so good. Read on!
