Wayne Kramer to Helm Film About Gangster Pretty Boy Floyd

Pretty Boy Floyd

Though many crime thrillers are simply slightly different variations on familiar stories about undercover or corrupt cops and the diabolical criminals they pursue, audiences usually can't get enough of them. Recently audiences went back in time with Public Enemies, the period crime thriller about John Dillinger played by Johnny Depp. Now Risky Biz reports that writer/director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared) will bring us the story of another infamous gangster from the past with Pretty Boy Floyd, a crime thriller focusing on Charles Arthur Floyd, a gangster whose crime wave swept across the Midwest in the 20s & 30s.

Sam Raimi Talks About Plans for His World of Warcraft Movie

Sam Raimi / World of Warcraft

It was announced last year, just before Comic-Con, that Sam Raimi was attached to direct an epic movie based on the incredibly popular World of Warcraft video game made by Blizzard. A year has passed and we haven't heard much since, although in October they did find a writer - Robert Rodat of Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot and so on. Our friends at Collider caught up with Raimi just recently on the red carpet of the Saturn Awards last night and spoke, at length, about his thoughts on the game, how they're planning to adapt it, the world it'll be set it, and anything he could get out of him at this point in development. Read on!

Ben Stiller is Back in the First Teaser Trailer for Little Fockers

Little Fockers Trailer

This Christmas... We hope you don't see this. After Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers, we thought that "franchise" had wrapped up, but they're back, all of them: Robert De Niro to Ben Stiller to Owen Wilson to Dustin Hoffman to Barbra Streisand as well as newcomers like Jessica Alba and Laura Dern. Universal has debuted the first teaser trailer for Little Fockers on Apple today. As expected, the logical progression of the Focker family is to raise two five-year old twins in a film that revolves around the couple trying to cope with raising their children. I'm not a fan of this series so I don't have much to say, but heck it out anyway!

Fox Options Ray Bradbury's Sci-Fi Book 'Martian Chronicles'

The Martian Chronicles

There's that "magic word" again - Avatar. Hollywood, especially 20th Century Fox, is going crazy for sci-fi, which may be good thing for sci-fi fans (like myself). 24 Frames reports that Fox has optioned the rights to adapt Ray Bradbury's classic sci-fi novel The Martian Chronicles, another Mars story where Earthlings mingle with Mars martians, similar to Disney's already in development John Carter of Mars adaptation. The news hasn't been officially confirmed by Fox yet, so there's no details on who may be writing or directing, but hopefully we'll hear more soon, as this is definitely going to quickly become a high profile sci-fi project.

Watch: Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Valhalla Rising' Official Trailer

Valhalla Rising Trailer

IFC Films has debuted the official trailer (via Apple) for Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn's Viking film Valhalla Rising starring Mads Mikkelsen. I actually saw this last year at the Toronto Film Festival and I hated it. I mean really hated it, like worst film of the year. One problem is that there is no dialogue in the entire movie; the little bit you hear in this trailer is about all there is in the whole thing, I'm not kidding. Mikkelsen isn't bad, but other than it's completely dull, boring and pointless. That said, this might interest a few of you anyway, so I thought I'd feature it anyway. Not sure what's up with that aspect ratio, but enjoy!

Wolfgang Peterson Developing Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Film

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots

You would think the promise of plenty steel smashing in Shawn Levy's futuristic robot boxing movie Real Steel would be enough, but apparently it's only making way for more giant robot movies. Pajiba has heard from their insiders that Mattel and Mandeville Films are developing a feature film based around the classic toy Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. In addition, apparently Wolfgang Peterson is attached to the project and there's a chance (though for some odd reason, this info isn't as solid) that Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) is on board to write. Yeah, and you know, maybe Christopher Nolan could direct a Mouse Trap movie, too!

Channing Tatum Attached to Scott Bros' Sci-Fi Romance 'Ion'

Channing Tatum

If you are trying to get an epic science fiction spec script any attention in this industry, mentioning Avatar as a point of comparison will definitely turn some heads after James Cameron's recycled story and dazzling special effects became the highest grossing movie of all-time. Ironically, it's Fox (via their Fox 2000 label) that's the leading contender to pick up a project similar in scope and setting (at least somewhat) to Avatar. The project, titled Ion, comes from producers Ridley & Tony Scott and has Channing Tatum attached already as a man who travels to different Earths and dimensions in order to find his reincarnated lover.

Casting Tidbits: Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Biggs & Kristen Bell

Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Biggs, Kristen Bell

You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Casting Tidbits. First up, Hollywood.com sat down with Neil Patrick Harris on the set of The Smurfs where he revealed that he is definitely returning for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, which is currently filming up in Michigan. You might be wondering how NPH will return after apparently meeting a grisly demise in Harold & Kumar Go to Guantanamo Bay, but if you stayed until the end of the credits then you know that not even bullets can kill Neil Patrick Harris.

John Lasseter Confirmed as Last Minute 'Cars 2' Co-Director

John Lasseter

And by last minute I mean the final year of production. Today just so happens to be the exact day, one year from now, in which Pixar's Cars 2 arrives in theaters (June 24th, 2011). After hearing rumors for months, Jim Hill Media (via SlashFilm) has confirmed with Disney reps that John Lasseter has returned to Pixar (after moving to Burbank, CA to become the new Chief Creative Officer of Disney) to work on Cars 2. See, it was reported back in February that Lasseter, who normally spends most of his time in LA working on Disney projects, had returned to Emeryville because "there have been story problems that needed to be addressed."

Buried Writer Set for Shyamalan's Next 'Night Chronicles' Film

M. Night Shyamalan

Just two days ago we heard that M. Night Shyamalan was busy shopping a secret script around town with Bruce Willis, Bradley Cooper and Gwyneth Paltrow attached. Now Deadline has word on yet another project from Shyamalan, but this one isn't as secret, and the filmmaker is only producing. The project in question, titled Twelve Strangers, is part of Shyamalan's Night Chronicles series of thrillers (the first is Devil) and has Buried screenwriter Chris Sparling scripting the thriller that involves a jury deliberating a case involving the supernatural. Let's just decide right now that we need the line, "You can't handle the ghouls!"

Must Watch: Bruce Willis in the First Official Trailer for RED!

Red Trailer

Retired Extremely Dangerous. Summit has unveiled the first trailer for RED, starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Karl Urban and Richard Dreyfuss, basically a helluva lot of damn good actors. This is based on the comic book series written by Warren Ellis, hence the DC Comics tag at the beginning. It's about a team of retired hitmen who come out of retirement. One of the best parts of this is seeing the lovely Helen Mirren with guns, that's just pure badass. Plus, John Malkovich looks frickin' hilarious. This actually looks pretty damn good, I just hope it's not too cheesy. Watch & enjoy!

Review: Too Much Mild, But Not Enough Edge in Knight & Day

Knight & Day

Running from hails of bullets, leaping onto speeding cars, landing jetliners in corn fields after inadvertently killing off both of the pilots. It's hard work being a secret agent these days. And that's not even getting into the mess of becoming infatuated with a civilian blonde whom you have accidentally gotten involved in your latest attempt to save the world. So how does Tom Cruise's Roy Miller do it all without seeming to become flustered or falling apart at the seams? It probably has something to do with how soft the action surrounding him is in Knight and Day, a film that has little in the way of edges and even less in the way of surprise.
