Matt Damon in Talks for Cameron Crowe's 'We Bought a Zoo'
Cinephiles everywhere are anxiously awaiting the next film from filmmaker Cameron Crowe, who hasn't directed a feature since Elizabethtown in 2005. Well, Fox has already set a December 23rd, 2011 release for his next project We Bought a Zoo, based on Benjamin Mee's memoir, so that means he'll start casting pretty damn soon. Well, Variety reports that Matt Damon is in "preliminary talks" to star in Crowe's We Bought a Zoo, about a widowed father who buys a dilapidated zoo in the English countryside in hopes of making a fresh start. He and his children, along with a small but loyal staff, work to get the zoo reopened.

Fernando Meirelles Directing Peter Morgan's Sex Project '360'
Considering that City of God is one of my personal favorite films of all-time, I'm obviously a very big fan of director Fernando Meirelles, who co-directed that film as well as The Constant Gardener and Blindness a few years ago (even though I didn't really like either of those two films). Deadline says that Meirelles is now attached to direct a project called 360, written by Oscar nominated British screenwriter Peter Morgan (The Last King of Scotland, The Queen, Frost/Nixon, The Special Relationship, Hereafter). BBC Films and ORF Fernsehfilm are co-financing the production with Universal co-chairman David Linde executive producing.

Blomkamp Not Offered Hobbit, Busy on Sci-Fi Project Elysium
Apologies are in order to everyone who got super excited about last weekend's rumor that District 9 director Neill Blomkamp may be lined up to direct The Hobbit after Guillermo Del Toro sadly dropped out of the project at the end of May. The always reliable Vulture got a hold of an insider from Blomkamp's agency who not only confirmed that Blomkamp is not directing the two-part adaptation, but no one from MGM/United Artists or Warner Bros. has even contacted him about directing the flick. Instead, Blomkamp is still busy working on another original sci-fi project called Elysium, whose plot is currently being kept under wraps.

Charlie Sheen Might Return as Wild Thing in Major League 4?
Despite an almost apathetic attitude towards the sport of baseball, I've consistently enjoyed lots of baseball movies. From childhood favorites like The Sandlot and Rookie of the Year to grown-up flicks like Field of Dreams, I just love seeing America's favorite pastime on the big screen. However, Major League is one of those baseball flicks that brings a whole lot of silliness to the game and it looks like a rumor that started last year about a potential for Major League 4 has been validated. David Ward (who directed the original) told Moviehole that they want to bring back Charlie Sheen and more of the original cast for this sequel.

Live-Action 3D Adaptation of UK's 'Horrid Henry' is on the Way
Because of my love for one of British finest exports, the Harry Potter franchise, I have to admit that I'm completely oblivious when it comes to Horrid Henry, the second most successful children's character in the UK. From writer Francesca Simon, Horrid Henry is the main character of the on-going children's book series of the same name which follows his ever constant battle against the tyranny of adults as he forms an unlikely alliance with his little brother Perfect Peter and girl-next-door Moody Margaret. Well, Variety now reports Vertigo Films is working on a live-action 3D adaptation of the series with Nick Moore at the helm.

Gory New International Trailer for Nimrod Antal's Predators!
"I'm the one you don't f*ck with." Okay, now this is the trailer you've all be waiting to see! IGN has debuted a new international red band trailer for Robert Rodriguez & Nimrod Antal's Predators that features "foul" language and some gory violence. Although we've seen a lot of featurettes and even a TV spot for this movie, we have only ever seen one trailer before today, the first one from back in March. But this new one is packed full of great lines of dialogue from just about every character, even more action, and tons of new footage we haven't seen before. I want to see this now, can't frickin' wait, looks like it'll be an awesome movie. Enjoy!

Jason Reitman Picks Up Film Rights to Novel 'Elliot Allagash'
With three feature films under his directorial belt, Jason Reitman has made quite the name for himself as an A-List writer and director, and in many ways already seems to have outdone his father Ivan Reitman, to a certain extent. And when you're as hot as Jason Reitman, your list of potential future projects keeps growing all the time. THR adds another adaptation to that list as Reitman and his new production company Right of Way Films have optioned the movie rights to "Saturday Night Live" writer Simon Rich's recent novel Elliot Allagash, a satiric take on private schools and the excesses of the rich. But will he direct the adaptation?

Albert Hughes Talks About the Live-Action 'Akira' Being PG-13
It was announced in February that brothers Allen and Albert Hughes, who directed The Book of Eli and From Hell before that, had been hired by Warner Bros to direct their upcoming adaptation of the Japanese manga Akira. It took quite a while, but someone finally caught up with Albert Hughes (solo this time) and asked him about Akira and his plans for that project. The quotes come from an interview the Kevin & Josh Movie Show (found via Film School Rejects) had with Albert. He talks briefly about WB's "mandate" to make the movie PG-13 as well as its current status. It's not all good news but it's definitely not all bad news either.

Must Play: Official Scott Pilgrim vs The World Avatar Creator!
While it's not necessarily desirable to find yourself in the shoes of Scott Pilgrim as he has to face-off against Ramona V. Flowers' seven evil ex-boyfriends, it wouldn't be all that bad to step into the (comic book) world of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Since I'm a fan of viral marketing exploits that actually occupy one's time further than just delivering clues to the next big viral event (for example, the fully playable version of Space Paranoids from the Tron Legacy viral), I am pleased to present the Scott Pilgrim Avatar Creator which allows you to create an animated version of yourself in the same style as the Scott Pilgrim comic book series.
