First New Trailer for Julian Schnabel's 'Miral' with Freida Pinto

by Alex Billington
Most of you probably won't recognize filmmaker Julian Schnabel, but you may recognize some of his past films, including Before Night Falls and the Oscar nominated The Diving Bell and the Butterfly with Mathieu Amalric, one of my personal favorites. His latest film is called Miral, after the main character in the film, a young woman, played by Freida Pinto, who lives in an orphanage setup in Jerusalem by Hind Husseini in the wake of the 1948 partition of Palestine. In addition to Pinto, this stars Willem Dafoe, Vanessa Redgrave and Alexander Siddig. This is a French trailer (via The Playlist) but is in English, so it's definitely watchable.
Watch the first official trailer for Julian Schnabel's Miral:
Miral tells the story of four women whose lives intertwine in a starkly human search for justice, hope and reconciliation amid a world overshadowed by conflict, rage and war. A chronicle of Hind Husseini's effort to build an orphanage in Jerusalem after the 1948 partition of Palestine and creation of the state of Israel.
Miral is directed by artist/filmmaker Julian Schnabel, of acclaimed films Basquiat, Before Night Falls and Oscar nominated The Diving Bell and the Butterfly previously. The screenplay was written by Rula Jebreal, who also wrote the book that it's based on. The Weinstein Company recently set a December 3rd release date here in the US for Miral, though we expect it to play at a few big film festivals before hitting theaters.

#2 - so unless someone shares your likes and dislikes, they don't know a good movie? by the way, i LOVED basquiat. (not for the director but for the cast and story - both were wonderful)
#4 - i wasn't aware i had to mention another movie this guy did in order to comment on this trailer. i'm not sure why my loving basquiat (or disliking "the diving bell and the butterfly) would have any bearing on my initial impression of miral looking very average.
#6 - in these times of (Oksana) illegally taping and releasing phone calls (to the public) i'd be careful of what you post here - someone may start calling you a racist…….LOL …… however, i couldn't agree more with your post.

Mr or Ms Billington, I am disgusted that you FAIL to Mention Hiam Abbass' name, She IS AN INTERNATIONAL STAR! You didn't even mention her name next to Hind Hussieni' name. She Has First Billing for a REASON.
