First Look: Worthington in Debt, Cage in Hungry Rabbit Jumps

Sam Worthington

A few new first look photos courtesy of Entertainment Weekly to share. EW recently unveiled a massive first look feature, comprised mainly of shots from various TV shows, but there are two photos we have not seen. The first one is for The Debt, starring Sam Worthington, Helen Mirren, Ciarán Hinds & Tom Wilkinson. Directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, Killshot) the film is a remake of a 2007 Israeli film called HaHov, rewritten by Kick-Ass team Matthew Vaughn & Jane Goldman. It tells the story of a former Mossad agent (Mirren) who revisits a decades-old mission to kill a notorious Nazi war criminal when he resurfaces.

Watch: Kick Ass Teaser for Blur Studio's Animated The Goon!

The Goon Teaser

One comic book adaptation we've been following for years is The Goon. Blur Studios, the animation house also working on David Fincher's Heavy Metal, has been developing this animated feature for quite a while. We featured a first look photo last March, as well as provided a few updates on its voice cast and status, but we've still been waiting to see any footage. That wait is over as MTV has debuted a totally kick ass 30-second teaser for The Goon to tease the upcoming Comic-Con panel on Friday night (where even more footage will be shown). The voices are Clancy Brown as the Goon and Paul Giamatti as sidekick Franky. Have fun!

New Re-Release Trailer for Chris Nolan's Debut Film Following

Following Trailer

While many recognize Christopher Nolan for his big break-out indie Memento, his first feature film was actually a super low-budget black & white indie called Following (which also just so happens to feature a character named "Cobb" in it like Inception does). Based on the recent success of all of Nolan's movies, IFC Films has decided to re-release Following in theaters and on-demand to give audiences and fans of Chris Nolan the opportunity to see a film that most have probably never seen. IFC recently debuted this trailer to promote the re-release and it's worth checking out, at least to see what Nolan's very early work looked like.

Viral Website for Rango? Mr. Timms is Headed to Comic-Con

Mr. Timms

Before we knew that Rango was actually a chameleon who becomes a sheriff in a dusty western town called Dirt, our first introduction to this animated movie came in the form of a short teaser that showed nothing more than a squeaky giant orange floating fish (seen above) floating across a road. Apparently he's called Mr. Timms and is a strange orange Japanese wind-up fish toy of sorts. What it has to do with the movie, I still don't know. SlashFilm discovered that there's a (viral?) site located at mrtimms.com for the toy and announced on the blog on that site is news that they will be at Comic-Con later this week at booth #3913.

Hansel & Gretel Following Breadcrumbs to New 3D Adaptaton

Hansel & Gretel

We already know the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel will get a bit of a makeover in dark fantasy with their involvement as psychic exterminators in the adaptation of graphic novel Legends, and the pseudo-sequel Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Now Kalliope Films and The Institute (a brand new company co-founded by Michael Bay) have announced plans to release an action packed 3D version of the story chock full of special effects. The original tale followed the young titular brother/sister as they get lost in the woods only to discover a house made of candy (seen above) inhabited by a child-devouring witch.

Burton Confirmed to Direct Monsterpocalypse, But How Soon?

Monsterpocalypse

We first heard about DreamWorks snagging the movie rights to adapt the collectible miniatures board game Monsterpocalypse back in May. At the time, the studio was courting Tim Burton as the creative catalyst behind the flick, and it seemed even more likely that the filmmaker was on board when writer and frequent Burton collaborator John August was brought on to write the script in June. Now comes more confirmation from SlashFilm, who heard from producer Roy Lee, that: "I can confirm that Tim Burton is developing it to direct. He’s working closely with John August on story." Details on what that story is can be found below!

First Photo: Lindsay Lohan as a Nun with an Uzi in Machete!

Lindsay Lohan

Oh sh*t! We've seen two trailers and plenty of photos for Robert Rodriguez's Machete, so what else is there to see? You may remember hearing that actress drug-addict Lindsay Lohan (who's now thankfully behind bars in real life) was cast in a role in this movie, but damnit we still haven't seen much of her yet. Our Dutch friends at FilmTotaal.nl have landed the first good photo of Lohan as "April Benz," who is wearing a nun's outfit while holding onto one gigantic silenced(?) uzi (although I don't know all of my weapon terminology perfectly). Although it's not much, this is pretty damn cool to see, maybe just to laugh at, but there you go.

Watch: First Teaser for Dwayne Johnson Revenge Movie Faster

Faster Teaser Trailer

"Sermon's over." CBS Films has unveiled the first teaser trailer for their new heist action-thriller Faster, starring Dwayne Johnson as an ex-con out to avenge his brother's death. In addition to "The Rock", this also stars Tom Berenger, Carla Gugino, Jennifer Carpenter, Maggie Grace, Moon Bloodgood and Billy Bob Thornton. Nice car Johnson, but will it be any good? From this teaser, I think it might be. I really dug this, love the song choice and the fact that it's a short, nice teaser, no need to spend two minutes showing us the whole movie. In fact, I'd like to see this right now, but it's not out in theaters until November. Watch below!

Kylie Minogue Also Cast in Bradley Rust Gray's Jack and Diane

Kylie Minogue

There's a film we've been writing about for the last three years, waiting for it to go into production, watching it switch casts endlessly, but that doesn't mean we'll stop reporting on it. It's called Jack and Diane and it has some infamy because, in brief, it's the "lesbian werewolf movie" in the works. When we first reported on it, it had Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby starring, now it's Juno Temple (Year One, Mr. Nobody) and Riley Keough (The Runaways, Elvis Presley's granddaughter) instead. The NY Post also recently confirmed that singer, actress and all-around hottie Kylie Minogue has also joined the cast as a "heavily tattooed lesbian."

Video Interview: Inception's Point Man Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

A couple of weeks back I interviewed actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt to talk about Chris Nolan's Inception, including how he shot those incredible fight scenes and so much more. I've talked with Gordon-Levitt before (at Sundance for 500 Days of Summer) but he's one of my favorite actors to talk with, so I set this up before I had even seen Inception, then after seeing those jaw-dropping fight scenes (you know the ones I'm talkin' about, in the hotel hallway) I knew he was the perfect guy to talk to. Even if you haven't seen Inception, this is still spoiler free. It's a great 10 minute interview and must watch if you're also a fan of Gordon-Levitt.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Trippy Spanish Dark Fantasy Film 'Verbo'

Verbo Trailer

Whoa... We won't be running an Indie Trailer Sunday next week (because it's Comic-Con!) so I thought I'd feature something very special, and totally trippy, for your viewing pleasure today (courtesy of Twitch). The film is called Verbo and it is the feature directorial debut of acclaimed Madrid-born filmmaker Eduardo Chapero-Jackson. It's a "dark fantasy thriller" about a teenage girl who "doesn't understand the world in which she lives." It's kind of hard to describe, but boy is this trailer a trip to watch. Even after watching it, I still don't know what heck is going on, but I think it looks very unique and I'm interested in checking it out.
