Tron's Joe Kosinski Attached to Helm Sci-Fi Project Archangels
If there's one director I should name that I think might be the next big thing, it's Joseph "Joe" Kosinski, who is remarkably making his feature directorial debut on Tron Legacy. Not many have actually seen that entire movie yet, but having seen him work on set combined with everything we've seen for Tron so far, it looks like he's one hell of a talented filmmaker with quite a future. Kosinski is already attached to a project called Oblivion and a remake of The Black Hole, but Heat Vision says he's also attached to another project called Archangels, a sci-fi epic being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott through their Scott Free banner.

Must Watch: First Trailer for Dowdle Brothers' Thriller Devil
Step aside Buried, it's time for M. Night Shyamalan to try his hand at a stuck-in-one-room thriller. Apple has debuted the first official trailer for Devil, directed by the Dowdle Brothers (of Quarantine). Devil is the first movie in Shyamlan's The Night Chronicles, which is a series of three films where he comes up with the idea and hands it off other filmmakers to complete. The concept in this is that a group of people end up trapped in a elevator learn that the devil is among them. I love the way this starts, and the whole trailer is just Twilight Zone-esque, with some extra intensity and lots more. Definitely a must watch - check it out!

Wachowskis' Iraq War Movie Titled CN9, Casting is Underway
It's coming whether you want it or not. Details were first unveiled during Cannes for the new Wachowski siblings' project, a supposed futuristic Iraq war movie "that focuses on a 'hard R' homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi." As is usually the case with Wachowski projects, they're very secretive, so we haven't heard much since. But Production Weekly just tweeted today (via ComingSoon) that: "Lora Kennedy has begun casting on The Wachowski's next project titled CN9." So with casting underway, that means it's in development and we'll definitely see this sometime soon, but I'm guessing it will be an indie?

Toy Story 3 is Now Pixar's Highest Grossing Movie in the US!
You knew it would happen. But who's going to win the summer movie game now? After coming in, officially, at #4 at the box office this past weekend with a little boost from Monday, Pixar's Toy Story 3 has become Pixar's highest grossing movie at the US box office (domestic), in only 4 weekends. It passed Finding Nemo with a current grand total of $342,040,500 million, only $2.3 million over Nemo's total. Released in May 2003, it took Finding Nemo 23 weeks to earn that much, so I'm sure Toy Story 3 will continue like a freight train earning copious amounts of money and setting records for a while. I wonder if it'll be #1 this summer?

Tron Legacy Proofed by Pixar's Best & Had Reshoots in June
Now this is an awesome story to hear. Entertainment Weekly published a great article today about how the Tron Legacy filmmakers sought out the help of some of Pixar's best and brightest for advice on improving the film after they showed them an early cut in March. Then, they actually hired Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt and director Brad Bird to write some of the new pages for the reshoots. The screening took place in March, they also showed it to other filmmakers in LA, and then they went in for planned reshoots in June. An absolutely brilliant idea and I think this is going to only help make it a more polished movie all around.

Illumination Ent Already Developing a Despicable Me Sequel
It's so fluffy, right? After taking the #1 spot at the box office over the weekend, Deadline has confirmed that Universal's animated comedy Despicable Me will be getting a sequel, which is already in development at Illumination Entertainment, the animation company behind the movie. Despicable Me was the first big hit Universal has had in a while and they're looking to really build the brand into something much bigger, at the level of Pixar, as Illumination and producer Chris Meledandri are also developing two short films featuring the lovable Minions as well as the sequel (and a whole bunch of other upcoming animated films). Read on!

Marc Forster Looking to Direct the Religious Drama 'Heretics'
Some great unique stories have come out of Ira Glass' popular public radio show "This American Life" and lately, some of them have been making their way towards the big screen. We've already heard about the spy film Wenceslas Square and the holiday comedy Santa Wars, which both have their roots in episodes of the radio program. Now Variety reports that yet another adaptation is currnetly in the works. Director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) has his eyes on Heretics, a religious drama based on the episode of the same name with Marcus Hinchey penning the script about the life of a fallen star in the evangelical movement.

Piranha 3D Footage Deemed Too Hot for Comic-Con Audience
We're only a little over a week away from diving into our full-fledged Comic-Con 2010 coverage in San Diego and we already have our first casualty of the convention (for now at least). Though nobody has actually died, one planned panel at the pop culture extravaganza has already pulled the plug because the footage that was intended to be screened was too racy for Comic-Con audiences. Paul Scheer updated his blog yesterday to say, "Piranha 3D has been banned from this year’s Comic Con Convention in San Diego for being too 'intense' and 'not family friendly.'" Though disappointing for those excited, this isn't entirely that surprising.

Watch: Awesome New Featurette for Scott Pilgrim vs the World
One! Two! Three! Four! Universal has debuted a new featurette for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World today on Apple (via Collider) which is where you can watch this in high def. It's essentially a recut of the last few trailers with interview footage crammed in and more. If you've never read the comic books, then watch this, as it provides a good introduction to the world of Scott Pilgrim, which makes sense because this video is titled "A Look Inside." I'm still pretty damn excited to see this, looks totally awesome. There's new footage in here for those wondering as well. And damn is that Mary Elizabeth Winstead hot! Watch it below.

Zac Efron Lines Up a New Workplace Comedy at Warner Bros
After singing, dancing and making tween and teen girls alike swoon all over him, Zac Efron has taken some very grown up steps toward a prosperous future in Hollywood by gradually moving away from that Disney image and into some very interesting projects. At only 22 years-old, Efron is the youngest actor to have an overall deal with Warner Bros. where he already has one project on his slate. Now THR adds another one to his workload at WB as the studio has just picked up an untitled workplace comedy which Efron will star in and produce. Jason Filardi wrote the script who also penned Efron's first real comedic venture 17 Again.

Casting Tidbits: Haley Joel Osment, Brian Cox and Chris Kattan
I'm going to kill you, Harry Potter. I'm going to destroy you. After tonight, no one will ever again question my powers. After tonight, if they speak of your name, they'll speak only of how you begged for Casting, and I, being a merciful lord, obliged. First up, THR reports Haley Joel Osment will return to the big screen (his last appearance was about 3 years ago in the 2007 film Home of the Giants) in the coming-of-age story Sex Ed. Marking the feature directorial debut of Isaac Feder, the story follows a college grad who dreams of teaching high school Algebra but due to budget restraints, ends up teaching sex ed, despite being a virgin.
