Sam Worthington is Making Sure Clash of the Titans 2 is 'Fun'
I know, I know, not many of you want to hear about Clash of the Titans 2, especially now that Predators is in theaters and Inception is right around the corner. But we've got an update from Sam Worthington that's pretty "fun" to hear, so I thought I'd cover this briefly. Worthington spoke with ComingSoon recently about the Clash of the Titans sequel, supposedly to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and promised that it will be shot in 3D. "[It] will be 3D this time... shot in 3D. Do put that in and make them f--king aware," he says. "In regards to the conversion, I'm a Jim Cameron boy, so people know my opinions." But that's not all!

Lionsgate's Saw VII Retitled to 'Saw 3D The Traps Come Alive'
Here we go again. Lionsgate has officially retitled Saw VII, the seventh film in the horror franchise started by James Wan and Leigh Whannell in 2004, to Saw 3D The Traps Come Alive. STYD confirmed the title change and even got to speak with producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules, who explained the reason for the new name (although I think we already know why). "The Traps Come Alive" is just a tagline. "It's a tagline that was added in and misinterpreted... One of the things we talked about, [especially shooting in 3D], the traps really do come alive and we wanted that clear in the campaign. But the title of the film is Saw 3D."

Disney May Have Finally Found Someone to Pick Up Miramax
Back towards the beginning of the year, we got the sad news that Miramax, the indie distributor based out of Disney, was officially closing its doors after 31 years of working in the motion picture business. Since then there's been failed talks about the company's founding members, Bob & Harvey Weinstein, buying back the company, and most recently heavily disliked executive David Bergstein was said to be teaming with construction magnate Ron Tutor to purchase the studio. Well, word on the street is Tutor is still involved, but apparently the team he's bringing into the deal has changed a bit, and the deal is "95% just about done."

Watch: Trailer for Philip Seymour Hoffman's Jack Goes Boating
Overture Films has unveiled the first official trailer on Apple for Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut Jack Goes Boating. This romantic comedy, starring Hoffman and a rather adorable Amy Ryan, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It's based on an off-Broadway stage play that Hoffman starred in as well. I didn't see this while I was at Sundance, which I'm now regretting, because it looks surprisingly good, like a sweet little, charming, intimate romantic dramedy, and I seem to have a soft spot for those (e.g. Max Mayer's Adam). If you're a Hoffman fan I suggest watching the trailer, you might also fall for it. Enjoy!

Denzel Washington Finds Shelter in New 'Safe House' Thriller
Most people love when their favorite leading man takes on the role of a hero in any given story, whether it's something as fantastical as a superhero or as grounded as an ethical passionate lawyer. But sometimes, it's even more enjoyable to see that same actor take on the role of a diabolical villain. Denzel Washington has found a couple of his finest performances in Training Day and American Gangster by playing the bad guy. Now Vulture reports he might go back to crime with Safe House, an original thriller that sees him playing a dangerous criminal who's on the run from a young CIA agent after his "safe house" comes under attack.

Casting Tidbits: Michael Madsen, Marcia Cross & Ralph Fiennes
They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the Casting Tidbits are down, these civilized people, they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve. First up, Variety reports Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Sin City) will lead the indie zombie flick Infected, with a story that focuses on a father and son who have to fight to survive against a deadly, rapidly spreading blood virus. Sounds like typical zombie fare, and something tells me Madsen doesn't exactly carefully select his projects since he has around 30 projects that are either in pre/post production or currently filming and that's insane.

Hardy, Craig, McGregor & Bloom All Vying for 'The Sweeney'
When actors get to a certain point of success in their career, there really isn't much to the audition process other than mentioning you're interested in the project and letting agents, directors, producers and casting directors handle the rest. So when I see a group of well known names all going for the same part, you know it's got to be one hell of a part, and thus my interest begins. Case in point, The Playlist has discovered (via The Daily Mail/OneIndia) that Tom Hardy, Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom are all looking to snag one of the leads in The Sweeney, a big screen version of the 70's British crime drama.

Kristen Stewart in the First Trailer for 'Welcome to the Rileys'
Remember that movie I got yelled at for saying that Kristen Stewart looked "slutty" in it? Well, the official trailer for Welcome to the Rileys, starring Kristen Stewart as a stripper/prostitute, has debuted today on Yahoo. They're positioning it as the big "what's next" for Stewart (and the rest of the Twilight stars) but it's a much more mature role for her and not something every last Twilight tween should be running out and seeing. I saw it at Sundance and enjoyed it quite a bit, but it's not particularly a stand out flick. It has some sweet moments and it's a solid effort from Jake Scott (son of Ridley Scott). And it stars James Gandolfini!

Watch: Badass Official Trailer for Robert Rodriguez' Machete!
As promised, another new trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Machete, directed by Ethan Maniquis and starring Danny Trejo, has debut on IGN. Back in May, Rodriguez unleashed an "illegal" trailer for Machete (with a special Cinco De Mayo message), but this is actually a legit trailer and it's pretty badass (I mean it this time). Besides Trejo, Machete stars Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin, Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal and Michelle Rodriguez, most of whom can be seen here. I totally love this trailer, it's perfectly crafted and looks like so much frickin' fun, I can't wait to see it! Congrats on one hell of a trailer, Troublemaker. Fire this up!

Netflix Instant This Week: X-Men, X-Files & Good Will Hunting
Hopefully the past holiday weekend allowed you to take advantage of some new Netflix Instant titles along with some great barbecue and some well-deserved time away from work because this week we've got another batch of fantastic titles to fill up your queue. Some are timely additions to the library while others seemed to have appear a couple days late (you'll see what I mean). But in the mix you'll find not one, but two franchise titles that begin with the letter "X", a couple of movies from Robin Williams, an enraging documentary for these economic times and one of the most critically hated films of all time. So what's in our queue this week?

Not So Fast: Mendes & Craig Will Wait for James Bond's Return
A couple of days ago we wrote about the cancellation of MGM's Bond 23, the next movie in the James Bond franchise, that MGM couldn't get going because they're all screwed up right now. Well, apparently that news was just a bit exaggerated. I'm sure the production is telling the crew to find different jobs because it's not happening right now, however, Deadline's Mike Fleming firmly states that "Bond isn't going anywhere." A Bond insider tells Fleming: "You are absolutely right, there is no new news. Development will resume once MGM is viable again." So really, there's not much to be worried about, and Bond will be back one day.
