David O. Russell & Vince Vaughn Teaming Up for 'Old St. Louis'
As we're all still waiting for The Fighter to be release sometime down the road, director David O. Russell (Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees) is still setting up his next project. Though there's been talk that Russell may direct the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies with Natalie Portman, Deadline is reporting the filmmaker is working on getting a project together with Vince Vaughn. Apparently Vaughn/Russell are in discussions with Universal to collaborate on Old St. Louis - the story of a traveling salesman (Vaughn) who has been an absentee father, and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his new life.

Check This Out: Another Theatrical Banner for Sucker Punch!
Hot damn they've really been rolling out the red carpet for Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch recently. Although the same imagery was first posted on SlashFilm (found on the Comic-Con floor), our friends at IMPAwards have posted a much bigger, full-sized version of a new extended theatrical banner for Sucker Punch showing the five girls - Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens - in the midst of an awesome action/battle scene. This also happens to be the same background from the official website but it's still awesome to see (and use as wallpaper), so check it out. Click the banner below to see it full-size!

Casting Tidbits: Tom Hardy, Old Spice Guy, Tina Fey, Zac Efron
You think I'm licked. You all think I'm licked. Well, I'm not licked, and I'm gonna stay right here and fight for this lost cause even if this room gets filled with Casting Tidbits like these, and the Taylors and all their armies come marching into this place. Somebody'll listen to me. First, more replacements in McG's action comedy This Means War. Vulture reports Tom Hardy (Inception, Bronson) has taken the role that was previously offered to Sam Worthington in the story of two best friends and veteran spies (Hardy/Chris Pine) against each other when they both fall for the same girl (Reese Witherspoon). Hardy vs. Pine? Yes, please!

Super 8 Viral Update: New Rocket Poppeteers Website Launch
Ooh I get so excited when a new viral that actually kicks ass comes into play! You probably heard about the Rocket Poppeteers ice cream trucks that made an appearance at Comic-Con last weekend, delivering ice cream treats and swag in hopes of building some early viral buzz for J.J. Abrams' Super 8. Not long after that unveiling, an actual website for the ice cream company has launched at rocketpoppeteers.com. This is the latest major news (via MovieViral) since finding the Scariest Thing I Ever Saw site. There's not much on the new site except for a sign-up form for "New Recruits" to a top secret Rocket Poppeteers project. I'm in!

Comic-Con 2010: Quick Review of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim!
I got to watch Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World at Comic-Con last week and I've been kicking myself about not writing anything about it since. I saw at a special secret premiere on Thursday night, which I followed with Flynn's Arcade's re-opening, then lots of glorious sleep because I was already exhausted and immediately crashed after I returned to my hotel. But if my tweet was any indication ("Scott Pilgrim vs the World was AMAZING! Wow just wow. Edgar Wright's BEST movie. Totally loved it!") I absolutely adored it, easily one of my favorites of the year, a kick ass, visually energetic, totally awesome comic book adaptation.

Del Toro Directing 'At the Mountains of Madness' Movie Next
This is the announcement we've all been waiting for. Deadline has learned that Guillermo del Toro's next directing gig, the one that he'll be taking on instead of The Hobbit, is an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. It's finally happening! If that news alone weren't enough to make you happy, del Toro has enlisted James Cameron himself to produce the film and they'll be shooting in 3D next summer for Universal Pictures. Del Toro played coy about this news at Comic-Con, but Deadline is putting the pieces together regarding his statements in San Diego that he'd be directing real horror next. This is great news!

Four Directors Set to Adapt Will Eisner's 'A Contract with God'
Though many will agree that The Spirit may indeed be one of the worst comic book movies of all-time, that doesn't take away any of writer Will Eisner's influence on graphic novels and their eventual acceptance as true form of literature. As a matter of fact, Eisner's graphic novel which brought credibility to the medium is now heading to the big screen. THR reports A Contract with God will be adapted into a live-action film with directors Alex Rivera (Sleep Dealer), Tze Chun (Children of Invention), Barry Jenkins (Medicine for Melancholy) and Sean Baker (Prince of Broadway) each helming one chapter of the story on screen.

Warner Bros Unveils the First Teaser Trailer for Yogi Bear 3D
As promised this morning with the first official poster, Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer (via Yahoo) for Yogi Bear in 3D (don't forget) to go along with the stench that picnic-basket-strewn poster left. Despite featuring the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi Bear and Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo, this really doesn't look that good at all. I don't know about the rest of you, but on December 17th I'm going to be sitting in theaters watching Tron Legacy over and over in 3D and I hope all the extra glasses that Yogi Bear doesn't use get handed over to the Tron theaters. Anyway, you should make up your own mind so watch end enjoy.

Damon Lindelof is Getting 'Lost' in Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel
Although the series that has taken the better part of six years in Damon Lindelof's career is finally over, the writer has been ever so busy working on screenplays for two high profile projects with Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci. Though there's plenty of extraterrestrial life in those projects (Star Trek 2 and Cowboys and Aliens), that's not stopping Lindelof from adding even more science fiction into the mix. Deadline reports Lindelof has just closed a deal to re-write the script for Ridley Scott's highly anticipated Alien prequel, which 20th Century Fox (and everyone else) is hoping the filmmaker will take on as his next directing gig.

Check This Out: 'Mind-Blowing' New Motion Poster for Saw 3D
Note: I'm not calling this poster "mind-blowing", it simply is mind-blowing (and they use that wording as part of the tagline anyway). Lionsgate has unveiled another brand new motion poster for Saw 3D (or rather Saw VII, most likely the final film in the franchise) over on UGO. They've been making creatively disgusting and edgy posters for the Saw series for years now, but with the MPAA clamping down, they've had to resort to destroying inanimate objects (instead of body parts), like a stone version of Jigsaw's(?) head this time. It looks cool to see it frozen in mid-explosion, but I'm not any more interested in seeing the film. Check it out.

Comic-Con Video Interview: Weta Workshop's Richard Taylor
On Sunday at Comic-Con, Golden Briefcase host Tim Buel and I caught up with Weta Workshop's creative genius Richard Taylor. If you don't know who he is, Taylor is one of the top designers and executives from Weta Workshop, the studio that designed all of the creatures, costumes, armor and weapons from Lord of the Rings as well as King Kong, Chronicles of Narnia and District 9. Taylor has won five Oscars in various categories like Costume Design, Makeup and Visual Effects, and is an amazing behind-the-scenes cinematic legend. It was an honor to speak with him and a fun interview to conduct right on the Comic-Con showfloor.

Kurtzman and Orci Chat About How to Write for Harrison Ford
By now I'm pretty sure Harrison Ford is a National Treasure - he's loved by everyone. His appearance at Comic-Con last weekend was beyond exciting and if anything it has made me more excited for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens. While at the Con, Movieline met with and interviewed the film's (most recent) writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (who you know from Transformers and Star Trek). One question they asked was what it was like to write for Ford, because he's such a huge cinematic icon. As was evident when they'd talk about Leonard Nimoy, these guys have a genuine love for the classic actors like Nimoy and Ford.
