Joss Whedon Explains Casting Renner/Ruffalo in The Avengers
Looking back at Marvel Studios presentation at Comic-Con last weekend which culminated in revealing the entire cast of The Avengers in front of our very eyes, I can't even explain how amazing it felt to attend that in-person. But now that we're past the announcement stage for this ensemble of superheroes, it's time to get down to business and find out what exactly we have to look forward to with this epic undertaking. Director Joss Whedon felt the need to comment on the reasons behind his choices in Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as a fresh replacement for Edward Norton as The Hulk. See what he had to say below!

DreamWorks Has a Feeling Steve Carell Was 'Raised By Wolfs'
In case the TV fans hadn't heard, Steve Carell has revealed that this coming season of "The Office" would be his last (and that could spell death for the entire series as well). Though fans of the NBC comedy series will surely be sad, this is good news for Carell fans on film since this means he'll be able to partake in many more projects instead of being forced to choose just one or two during his hiatus between seasons. Reports of a new project come from RiskyBiz who says DreamWorks has picked up Raised By Wolfs (no that's not a grammatical error) an original comedy pitch from TV writer Les Firestein that has Carell attached to star.

Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton Get a Thrill in 'The Retreat'
Now this sounds like it might be an awesome original thriller. Deadline is reporting that Cillian Murphy (last seen as Fischer in Inception) is set to star opposite Thandie Newton in a new thriller project called The Retreat that will start shooting in Wales in September. Murphy and Newton will play a husband and wife who rent a remote island cottage while trying to repair their marriage. One day they find a biohazard-suited soldier washed up on the beach, who warns them that everybody on the mainland has been killed by an airborne virus. "That's when the psychological fun-and-games begin..." What a great concept, I love it.

New Disney Featurette - A 'Tangled' World: Creating the Look
Disney has unveiled this wonderful new featurette (via Awards Daily) for their upcoming animated movie Tangled (watch the trailer) featuring the voices of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider. In addition to getting an inside look at the world and how they created the "look" of Tangled (which is a fun story), we also get to meet co-directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, who definitely seem like they belong on the Disney family. I love that Disney is getting back to that classic "happiest place on Earth" kind of feeling with their animated movies and I'm personally looking forward to seeing Tangled this year.

Don't Look: First Poster for Warner Bros' CG Yogi Bear Movie
This is when a big SIGH is totally necessary. Yahoo has unveiled the first poster for Warner Bros upcoming hybrid CGI Yogi Bear movie starring Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Yogi and Justin Timberlake as the voice of his sidekick Boo-Boo. The trailer arrives later this afternoon which means if it wasn't already painful looking at this, you'll have plenty more to complain about later on. I'm sorry, but I just can't get into this, it's probably going to be Alvin and the Chipmunks-level bad, and I just personally don't care to see even more of that. I'll give the trailer a chance, but if that is terrible too, then all hope is lost. But does anyone even care?

Twilight Actor Edi Gathegi Cast as Darwin in X-Men: First Class
The cast of Fox's X-Men: First Class prequel continues to grow. Deadline reports that actor Edi Gathegi, most recently seen as a vampire in the first two Twilight movies as well as in My Bloody Valentine, will play the mutant named Darwin in Matthew Vaughn's new X-Men movie. Darwin, one of the "Missing X-Men," has the powers of self-protection and "continuous circumstantial evolution," which allows him to adapt to any situation like growing gills if put underwater, or gaining night vision if too dark. Gathegi also appeared in that rogue independent Atlas Shrugged adaptation, but this is probably one of his biggest roles to date.

The 35th Toronto International Film Festival has announced a total of 50 Gala/Special Presentation films as part of the lineup at this year's festival, which runs September 9th to 19th in Toronto, Canada. I'll be gearing up for another massive month long festival tour soon and it looks like Toronto will be an awesome stop. You can check out a full list of Toronto films below.

Paramount Picks Up Another Michael Bay 'Alien' Sci-Fi Project
And here we have a big spec script sale not long after wrapping up Comic-Con to prove that sci-fi and aliens are the hot thing right now (e.g. Battle: LA, Skyline, Falling Skies). Deadline says Paramount has picked up a spec script for a "modestly budgeted extraterrestrial project" that Michael Bay will produce (at some point). It's supposedly called the "Confidential Alien Project" (meaning probably to be later surprisingly renamed) and is said to be a "cross between Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity." Ummm wait - isn't what Paranormal Activity's Oren Peli directing as his next film, Area 51, the exact same for Paramount anyway?

Watch: Teaser Trailer for Disney's Beauty and the Beast in 3D
I know what you're thinking - why watch a trailer for a 3D re-release of a movie in 2D online? You're right, you don't have to watch this, but if anything it should be a nostalgic kick in the butt for anyone who grew up with this movie. Found by SlashFilm is this teaser trailer for Disney's Beauty and the Beast in 3D, their long-delayed upcoming re-release of the animated Disney classic. It's one of the first 2D animated movies to get a 3D conversion, but I can tell you it looks gorgeous. They went back to the original files to convert and if you saw the Toy Story 1 & 2 last year, you know it'll be a great theatrical experience. Watch the teaser below!

Check This Out: Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go Final Poster
I'll usually love anything Fox Searchlight puts out and that's certainly the case here. Mark Romanek himself (via HeyUGuys) debuted this new official poster for Never Let Me Go, the upcoming indie drama starring Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man!), Keira Knightley and the always lovely Carey Mulligan. So get this, although you've all probably seen the trailer, did you know this is actually a sci-fi film? Yea, they don't want to reveal much, but there's a twist to it and it may throw a few of you off if you're just hoping for a period romance. Additionally, it was just announced today that this will be playing at the Toronto Film Festival, so congrats!
