Brandon Routh as Dylan Dog in the First 'Dead of Night' Trailer
This is one of those "ohhhh yea!" kind of movies. We've been writing about this Dylan Dog adaptation for years, even posting a bunch of first look photos more than a year ago, but haven't heard a single word about it since. I'm interested because it's the next movie from TMNT director Kevin Munroe and because it stars Brandon Routh, who (especially after Scott Pilgrim) just kicks ass. A new promo trailer (via Vlicious) for Dylan Dog: Dead of Night recently appeared on the web and unfortunately it looks pretty awful. Routh looks awesome, but the rest not so much. And yes, that is Taye Diggs as the head vampire. Tread carefully!

Anchor Bay Nabs Josh Radnor's HappyThankYouMorePlease
I'm writing about this film because it was one of my favorites from Sundance this year, but it's having some distribution troubles. Deadline says that the original distributor, Hannover House, who picked up the film in March, has given up the rights to Anchor Bay Films instead, who will still release it in theaters. The film I'm talking about is Josh Radnor's HappyThankYouMorePlease, a romantic comedy of sorts that won the Audience Award at Sundance. The film stars Radnor, of "How I Met Your Mother" fame, as well as Kate Mara, Malin Akerman, Zoe Kazan, and others, like 9-year-old Michael Algieri (who plays a key role).

Brand New Photos from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!
No matter how disappointing the panel for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows may have been at Comic-Con, the new footage was still something to behold. The last trailer we saw for this two-part finale combined with the jarring teaser poster sent chills down my spine. Luckily for us, another trailer is coming sometime soon as the British Board of Film Classification recently rated a brand new trailer that will focus solely on Part I of Deathly Hallows. It's unclear how soon we'll get to see this trailer, but in the meantime Warner Bros has released a set of awesome new stills (below) from Harry Potter's final cinematic adventure.

Watch: First Teaser Trailer for Joaquin Phoenix's I'm Still Here
It's here. And he's still here, supposedly. Magnolia has finally debuted the first teaser trailer for the wacky Joaquin Phoenix rap documentary I'm Still Here directed by Casey Affleck. We've all been anxiously awaiting the chance to see some footage since first hearing about how crazy Phoenix got, but I don't know what to make of this. Sure it's just a teaser and they can't show too much in fear of the MPAA, but I'm not really any more interested to see this now than I was before (but I still want to see it). Is it going to be more like Borat or is it just an art film documentary showing an actor going overboard? Watch the teaser below.

Rooney Mara Snags Lead Role in 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'
Fantastic young actresses like Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman and Mia Wasikowska have been mentioned as contenders to take the lead role of Lisbeth Salander in the American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Marvel Briefs: Oliver Platt in X-Men, Avengers Shooting in 3D
We've said before that with the amount of 3D movies, announcements will soon only be made when a given blockbuster won't be in 3D. However, now the new trend is to make sure audiences knows that a movie was actually shot in 3D as opposed to being converted in post-production. For upcoming projects from Marvel, we already know that Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will be converted into 3D, but now we have word from Showbiz 411 that The Avengers will actually be shot in 3D. Cool, I guess. On the slightly more exciting side of things, X-Men: First Class has just added Oliver Platt to its growing cast. Read on!

Daniel Radcliffe Might Star in 'Jay and Seth vs The Apocalypse'?
Now that the Harry Potter franchise is coming to a close, plenty of new opportunities will be presented to the actors who've been tethered to the series for the better part of 10 years. Emma Watson recently chopped off almost all of her hair as a celebration of her newfound freedom, and it looks like Daniel Radcliffe may have yet another project on the horizon. Though the young actor is already set to star in another new gothic thriller The Woman in Black, Entertainment Biz (via STYD) reports Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel have expressed an interest in him joining Jay and Seth vs The Apocalypse, as he is "keen to get involved."

Watch Director Danny Boyle Talk About Shooting '127 Hours'
Thanks especially to his recent films Slumdog Millionaire and Sunshine, Danny Boyle is one of my favorite filmmakers currently working. Not only do his movies have a style to them unlike anything, he's a wonderful guy that I've had the pleasure of meeting once or twice. I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity to see newest film, 127 Hours, a mostly one-man effort about a mountain climber in Utah who had to amputate his own arm, starring James Franco as that climber. Empire recently held their "Movie-Con" event and debuted the trailer and chatted with Boyle. They've released a short clip of the on-stage chat which you can watch below.

George Clooney as Frank Sinatra in a 'Maf the Dog' Adaptation?
Here's an interesting rumor to mull over. Found in a report on the recent Edinburgh Book Festival (via The Playlist) was mention of announcement that author Andrew O'Hagan made about an adaptation of his book The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe. O'Hagan said that an adaptation will go into production shortly and will star George Clooney as Frank Sinatra and Angelina Jolie as Marilyn Monroe, but "it is not yet known who will be playing Maf the dog" (a joke). That is some huge news that no one has heard before and will make Jolie the third to be cast as Monroe in the last year.

More X-Men Casting News - Rose Byrne is Moira MacTaggert
This just keeps getting better. Hollywood Reporter just announced that actress Rose Byrne is currently "in negotiations" to join the cast of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, which begins shooting in London at the end of this month. Byrne will reportedly be playing Moira MacTaggert, the love interest of Charles Xavier (played by James McAvoy), who we also actually saw briefly in X-Men 3 (she attended Professor X's funeral - sorry for the spoiler). While Moira isn't a mutant herself, she's a scientist who studies mutants and is an authority on genetic mutation. I'm loving this cast, Byrne is a great actor and is very easy on the eyes.

Check These Out: Adam Sidwell's '52 Bad Dudes' Illustrations
Holy crap these are freakin' awesome! The other day, via Uncrate, I came across illustrator Adam Sidwell's series of gorgeous illustrations as part of his 52 Bad Dudes series. As he explains on his Tumblr: "My name is Adam Sidwell and this is a blog I created to keep me illustrating regularly. By each Friday in 2010 I will be uploading a new illustration I created just for this project. The theme is 'Bad Dudes' which can be many things bad and dude or dudette like." There are some beautiful pieces that he's done that are all available as 13"x19" art prints on his website. But they're limited editions and will sell out, so hop to it if you want one!

Jason Flemyng Cast as Azazel in Matthew Vaughn's New X-Men
Now this is mainly for the hardcore comic fans. Empire caught up with Jason Flemyng at the "Movie-Con" the other day and got confirmation from the actor himself that he'll be appearing in X-Men: First Class. "Matthew showed me my costume just the other day. Now I swore I'd never be in heavy make-up again, but this role is going to involve it," he said. "I am Azazel, and I can teleport by waving my arms [gestures like a cross between a flamenco dancer and Bollywood star]." As comic fans already know, Azazel is a teleporting creature from another dimension who's also Nightcrawler's father. "Don't worry, we'll add the tail in post."
