Indie Comedy 'The Winning Season' Trailer with Sam Rockwell
Lionsgate has finally debuted an official trailer for Grace Is Gone director James C. Strouse's sophomore effort, an indie comedy called The Winning Season that initially premiered at Sundance nearly two years ago. Sam Rockwell stars as a former coach who is given a shot at redemption when he is asked to run his local high school's failing girls basketball team. In addition to Rockwell, this also stars Emma Roberts and Rob Corddry. This actually looks more commercial and broadly comedic than I was expecting. That said, I always love Rockwell and this could be one of those comedy gems that (sadly) no one notices. Take a look!

Jack Black & Shirley MacLaine Join Richard Linklater's 'Bernie'
It seems like the past few years have seen director Richard Linklater being "dazed and confused" by the shelving of That's What I'm Talking About (his unofficial sequel to Dazed and Confused) and Liars A-E, a story following some girls on a road trip to President Obama's inauguration. But now it looks like Linklater may finally have a follow-up to Me and Orson Welles, the drama ambitiously led by Zac Efron. A month ago, Linklater revealed he was working on a Fargo-esque true crime story called Bernie. Now an extras casting call from Short Film Texas (via BleedingCool) reveals Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine will be starring.

Rumor: Justice League on the Way Sans Batman and Superman
This rumor is a bit crazy and we're only acknowledging it simply because it concerns a likely path that DC Entertainment could take eventually, but these rumored developments surrounding this potential project could spawn some interesting discussion. So without further adieu, ComicBookMovie.com (who have had some decent inside information regarding certain comic book flicks) is reporting Warner Bros has given the greenlight to a Justice League movie. They acknowledge that the film is in extremely early stages but apparently it's been decided the team will exclude two of the biggest superheroes: Superman and Batman.

One Killer Runaway Train in Tony Scott's Unstoppable Trailer
Our good friends at SlashFilm have uncovered the first trailer for Unstoppable, the upcoming Tony Scott runaway train action movie starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, a few others. Unfortunately this just looks so outrageously cheesy, we've heard every line in it before, and I couldn't find any part of that I was actually looking forward to seeing in its entirety on the big screen. It also just looks like the guy from Taking of Pelham 123 (meaning Denzel) going toe-to-toe with Captain Kirk when he was still on Earth driving trains. I get what they were going for, but I really don't think this looks good. Enjoy!

Must Play: Sweet Interactive Scott Pilgrim vs the World Trailer
Edgar Wright's totally awesome Scott Pilgrim vs the World finally hits theaters next week and as a final hoorah, Universal debuted a very badass "interactive" trailer for the movie. It is the same trailer we've seen before, but is interactive in that the whole thing plays just like a video game, and while watching the trailer you can learn extra info about the "Scott Pilgrim world." This is great for those of you who are not familiar with the comics and even better if you are a fan and can't wait to see this. I've seen the movie already and it's one of my favorites of the year and I hope everyone sees it next weekend! Check out the sweet trailer below.

McKay May Direct Biopic on Political Consultant Lee Atwater
Looking back at his movies like Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and now The Other Guys, two things are very clear: director Adam McKay loves comedy and Will Ferrell. But it now looks like he may be taking a step back away from both of those loves on a few projects. We know McKay is signed on to direct an adaptation of The Boys, the story of a superpowered CIA squad whose job it is to keep watch on superheroes and, if necessary, intimidate or kill them. While talking The Other Guys (via The Playlist), McKay mentioned another more serious project he's developing: a biopic on Lee Atwater, a Republican political strategist.

McG Wants to Direct Ryan Reynolds in Adaptation of R.I.P.D.
Despite the fact that he's had his fair share of problems getting a solid cast together for the action comedy This Means War, it looks like McG is already trying to line-up a follow-up project. Pajiba reports that the director of Charlie's Angels and Terminator Salvation is circling an adaptation of the Dark Horse graphic novel R.I.P.D. (or Rest in Peace Department), a project we heard about back in April. At the time, Ryan Reynolds was attached to star (and that still seems to be the case) in this story of a dead cop who makes a deal to work one hundred years in divine law enforcement in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him.

Crazy: First Official 2D Trailer for Jackass 3D Arrives Online!
And they're off! The first official (non-3D) trailer for Jackass 3D, the third movie from the crazy Jackass crew, has arrived online (embed courtesy of Cinema Blend). I'm not really the biggest fan of these guys or this show anymore, but I've got to say, this looks pretty damn fun. I personally won't be seeing it in 3D just because I feel like that's definitely a gimmick in this. I don't know how, but these Jackass movies continue to make money in theaters and I'm sure this one will be a giant hit as well. I'd love to sit behind a jet plane in a lounge chair (kidding, but that does look fun). Check it out and don't worry, it's a green band trailer.

Rumor: JJ Abrams is Producing Bong Joon-ho's First US Film?
Now here's a rumor I really hope turns out to be true! SlashFilm's Adam Quigley reports a rumor he's heard from one of his inside sources that filmmaker J.J. Abrams (who needs no introduction) is potentially going to be collaborating with Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, director of The Host, Memories of Murder, and Mother. They've heard that Abrams visited Korea last year and has "extensive meetings with Bong" and will be collaborating with him on his first US film following completion of Snow Piercer (the sci-fi graphic novel adaptation we've written about before). This awesome news (for me at least) and I really hope it's all true!

First Look: Wes Craven's Other New Thriller 'My Soul to Take'
Although any buzz about Wes Craven is now focused purely on Scream 4, the horror filmmaker actually has another new, original horror movie he shot and finished that's finally arriving this fall. It was originally called 25/8 but the title was later changed to My Soul to Take by Universal for the release. We've been covering the film since back in 2008 because Craven said that 25/8 would feature a new "signature villain" in the same vein as Freddy Krueger or Scream's ghostface killer. We've seen some photos of this before, but Bloody-Disgusting got their hands a small set of new photos that give us a tease at what's to come. Read on!

Review: Brutal Brilliance of a Myth on Display in Valhalla Rising
Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, the man who directed the Pusher trilogy and Fear X, is in the film making business. Nicolas Winding Refn, the man who directed Bronson and Valhalla Rising, the film we're discussing today, is in the myth-building business. The characters at the center of each of these films are strong, interesting, and absolutely barbaric, but that isn't what transcends them to almost myth status. What does transcend that status, however, is found in the story and the world they inhabit, both just as equally barbaric as the characters themselves.
