Jolie is Writing/Directing Bosnian War Flick, Not Starring In It
Yesterday we brought you news that Angelina Jolie would be next working on a "love story" set during the Bosnian War of the early 90's. But apparently details weren't all that accurate, as GK Films (the production company behind the film) posted a blog entry (via The Playlist) setting things straight and also announcing that Jolie will be making her feature directorial debut with this. Apparently Jolie is writing and directing the project, which focuses on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship. We're assuming shooting is still set to start later this fall in Europe.

Whoa: Trailer Debut for Crazy TIFF Midnight Film 'Red Nights'
Whoa. We have a very weird trailer to debut for you today for a film that will be playing in the Toronto Film Festival 2010 Midnight Madness category, which is where all the dark, weird stuff goes. It's a French-Hong Kong film from filmmaking duo Julien Carbon & Laurent Courtiaud titled Red Nights (in English) starring Carrie Ng (Sex Medusa) and Frédérique Bel (Adèle Blanc-Sec). It's kind of a modern, bondage version of a Cantonese Opera. Here's how this was pitched to me: "If you are interested in lethal Chinese ladies with jade claws and moody French women with Mausers, you can take a look at our teaser." Need to say more?

Watch This: Comic-Con Trailer for AMC's 'The Walking Dead'
I'm breaking all of our rules today to feature this totally badass (recut) version of the Comic-Con trailer for AMC's adaptation of the comic series The Walking Dead. We don't normally talk about TV at all, but this is one show that I think deserves the time in the spotlight for being one of the latest to break the rules of the TV world as one of the first series about a zombie pandemic. This trailer is a beefy, five-minute look at the undead-filled world Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist), as director of the pilot, has crafted for the show. I can't wait to see this, it's one show I will be going out of my way to watch!

Two Creepy TV Spots for Dowdle Brothers' Devil Have Arrived
Bad things happen for a reason. Despite bearing M. Night Shyamlan's name (which everyone always laughs at), I have to admit I'm pretty damn excited to see Devil. I'm a sucker for contained thrillers and this looks like it takes the concept and flips it around and sends it for a ride, which I know sounds cheesy, but it was a pun! Anyway, two new TV spots recently showed up on YouTube and they're both quite interesting. One of them is called "Spanish Prayer" (you'll see why, it's good) and the other is "Coincidence", another good one setting up the story. I'm surprised they're keeping Shyamalan's name on these though. Watch both below!

Sam Worthington Cast in Australian Indie Surfing Drama 'Drift'
A whole slew of projects have Sam Worthington attached to star in the coming years, but a new film will take him back to his stomping grounds of Western Australia. A newspaper down under, The West Australian (via The Playlist), reports Worthington will return home to star in Drift, a surfing-centric drama which will see the actor as a photographer and journalist instrumental in the evolution of surfing from a pastime to a global industry. Combine Worthington's passion for surfing with a return to his homeland, and maybe we'll actually get a decent, heartfelt performance out of him that he's yet to deliver in any of his other endeavors.

Angry Birds iPhone/iPad Game is Migrating to the Big Screen?
Since a big chunk of action figures and board games have already been snagged by studios in Hollywood, it looks like games on the iPhone and iPad might be the next source of inspiration for the big screen. Variety reports that the insanely popular game Angry Birds, which has sold more than 6.5 million downloads, is meeting with studios and talent agencies to turn the game into a multi-platform franchise. While the deals include toys, comic books and TV shows, the most significant bit for our purposes includes a movie deal. In the game, a slingshot fires birds into the fortresses of green pigs who have stolen the fowl's eggs. Read on!

Watch: Official Trailer for Financial Meltdown Doc Inside Job
Please don't get into any political battles over this. Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official trailer on Apple for the buzzed about documentary Inside Job, directed by Charles Ferguson, who received an Oscar nomination for his 2007 Iraq war doc No End in Sight. This time he tackles the economic crisis of 2008 and our financial meltdown, exposing the shocking truth behind who is to blame, mostly the greedy execs from Wall Street. The film also features narration by Matt Damon, which should be a good thing. Anyway, even if you're not into politics much this still looks great, and it's getting solid buzz. Check out the trailer below.

Casting Tidbits: Paul Rudd, Jessica Alba and Harold Perrineau
Panda Watch! The mood is tense. I have been on some serious, serious reports but nothing quite like this. I uh...Ching...King is inside right now. I tried to get an interview with him, but they said no, you can't do that he's a live bear, he will literally rip your Casting Tidbits off. First up, Pajiba has a scoop on a new indie titled Bobby Blue Sky recruiting the talents of Paul Rudd, Topher Grace and Kristen Wiig. "Parks & Rec" producer Emily Kapnek penned the script which focuses on three dysfunctional siblings dealing with their baby brother’s accidental fame (as a character in their father’s children’s book series) warping their lives.

Also, Focus Features' It's Kind of a Funny Story with Keir Gilchrist, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Roberts moved from September to October 8th, which is a crowded weekend, but it'll be a limited opening.

Where is the Train? First Poster for Tony Scott's Unstoppable
So we've got Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, each looking badass, some sparks flying, and "Inspired by True Events" on there - but where is the train? IMPAwards has uncovered the first poster for Tony Scott's Unstoppable, that runaway train action movie starring Pine and Washington that we featured the trailer for a few weeks back. I wasn't that impressed with the trailer so it's no surprise I'm not that impressed with this poster. I wonder if market research proved putting a train on there would turn people off? It also looks like a mix of the Live Free or Die Hard and Taking of Pelham 123 posters. Wondering what you guys think.

Awesome Concept Art + Details About Weta Movie 'Panzer 88'
There's a project I've been hearing buzz about recently down in the works at Weta in New Zealand called Panzer 88. Our good friend Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex just decided to bust open the doors on it and has written a fantastic piece featuring an interview with producer Gary Kurtz (Star Wars IV, V) and some impressive concept art from the WWII-set supernatural tank thriller. The plot follows the five-man German crew of the Ilsa -- a King Tiger, the biggest tank of its day -- on a mission to the frigid and fearsome Russian border, where they tread into an ancient mystery by stirring a powerful entity. You've got to check this out!

First Bloody Animated Warhammer 40K 'Ultramarines' Teaser
"In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war..." Some of you may know that we've been writing about an upcoming animated movie based on Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines called Ultramarines. After a couple of months of waiting, we now have a short first look at a very bloody teaser trailer (with actual footage) for the movie as found by Quiet Earth. Sadly, this is going to be going straight-to-DVD (not in theaters, as far as we know) but the good news is it features the voices of Terence Stamp and John Hurt (as heard in the trailer). This has the potential to be pretty awesome and I hope it delivers!
