Watch: Last Minute Trailer for New Line's 'Going the Distance'
Out of nowhere comes one more brand new trailer (via Yahoo) for the Nanette Burstein-directed romantic comedy Going the Distance, written by Geoff LaTulippe, starring the lovable duo Justin Long & Drew Barrymore. This is that long distance relationship quirky comedy that you've probably seen lots of ads for recently. I've seen some fairly mixed, but mostly positive Twitter buzz recently, mainly because it's official premiere was tonight (perfect timing). It's a very well edited trailer, I think it looks quite funny and it has a lot more Charlie Day (selling to the It's Always Sunny crowd). So here's your final reminder, watch below!

Dimension Films Already Working on Piranha 3D: The Sequel
Despite that the boob-filled, bloody, hard R-rated tongue-in-cheek horror romp Piranha 3D opened at #6 at the box office this weekend with only $10 million, the next few weeks combined with DVD/Blu-Ray sales will ensure the film gets a profit. Of course that means Dimension Films is already interested in a sequel and today they announced today (via a press release) the immediate start of development on Piranha 3D: The Sequel. So where exactly where will waters turn red next? Well, SlashFilm recalls in recent interviews that director Alexandre Aja already has an idea for a piranha feeding fest at the Full Moon Party in Thailand.

Watch: Designer Neville Page Talking About 'Super 8' & 'Tron'
I had the honor of meeting concept designer and creature creator Neville Page on the set of Tron Legacy last year. His work on that movie mainly involved the various vehicles (lightcycles, light-buggies, light-jets) but that's not all he's done. In fact, Page's career in Hollywood has blown up recently. He used to design cars in Europe, but is now credited as the creature designer on films like Cloverfield, J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and James Cameron's Avatar. Those titles alone got him work on upcoming projects like Tron, Green Lantern and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Wired talked with Page at Comic-Con and finally posted their video.

Disney's Getting into the 'Monster Witness Relocation Program'
There's a decent amount of projects on the horizon with a variety of different takes on monsters. There's a remake of the 1987 horror comedy Monster Squad, then there's another completely unrelated project called Monster Squad that spawned from Brian Lynch's script Nightcralwers. But now Disney is getting into the monster game with a project called Monster Witness Relocation Program, which may or may not be a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith (The Karate Kid). The idea (which isn't explained, though the title sparks some thoughts) comes from actor/writer Ahmet Zappa who also wrote the screenplay with Michael Wilson.

Interview: Flipped Writer & Director - Filmmaker Rob Reiner
He's directed some of your all-time favorite films, including Stand by Me, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and he's back with another charming coming-of-age comedy called Flipped, based on Wendelin Van Draanen's bestselling novel. Last week I caught up with legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner over the phone for an interview regarding Flipped and we talked about what goes into his films, his inspiration and connection with stories about our youth and growing up (like Stand By Me) and much more. It was a delight to talk with Reiner and if you're a fan of any of his movies at all, this is must read interview.

Brett Ratner's Tower Heist Movie Gets Greenlit with Ben Stiller
Can you a smell a flop already? Deadline is reporting that after four years in development hell, Universal has finally given the greenlight to a project known as Tower Heist which will star Ben Stiller and be directed by Brett Ratner. Don't know if everyone agrees, but I think most of us hoped Ratner would disappear from the directing world forever, but alas he's back again (thankfully not with Paris Hilton or that Hugh Hefner project). Anyway, Stiller will star as an overworked manager of a luxury building who, along with other staff, lost their pensions to a Bernie Madoff-like Wall Street crook. But he organizes a heist to get the money back.

Paul Verhoeven Next Adapting Dutch Novel 'The Hidden Force'
It's been about four years since director Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Starship Troopers) directed anything. His last film was the WWII drama Black Book in 2006, but the filmmaker recently revealed his next project (via SlashFilm) on the Dutch television show "Zomergasten" (or "Summer Guest"). The project comes from Black Book screenwriter Gerard Soeteman, and is essentially an adaptation of Louis Couperus' 1900 Dutch novel De stille kracht, or The Hidden Force. Rougly translated, Verhoeven says the story follows rebellion against colonial rule, the emergence of fundamentalist Islam, adultery and even psychic powers. Whoa!

Casting Rumors Hit for Fox's Fantastic Four Franchise Reboot
Though plans fell through for the stunning Alice Eve to take on the role of Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, Fox is still chomping at the bits to get her into a skin tight superhero suit. According to Comic Book Movie (whose scoops can be hit or miss), Fox is looking at Eve to play Sue Storm, The Invisible Woman, in their reboot of Fantastic Four. The same place also mentioned Amber Heard (Pineapple Express) as a candidate for the same role. In addition, ScreenRant says Adrien Brody and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are among names being considered for Mr. Fantastic himself, Reed Richards. This might actually turn out okay!

Carey Mulligan to 'Drive' with Ryan Gosling & Bryan Cranston
We've known for a while now that director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) would be directing Drive, the first foray into the action genre for Ryan Gosling. Recently Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad") joined and now RiskyBiz reports the radiant Carey Mulligan will also go on her first venture into action by joining as well. The adaptation of James Sallis' novel follows a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. But when a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con's girlfriend (Mulligan) sitting in the passenger's seat along for the ride.

Angelina Jolie is Shooting a Bosnian War-Set Love Story Next
No superheroes or Russian spies, apparently Angelina Jolie is preparing to start shooting a film set during the Bosnian War of the early 90's for her next feature role. Reuters / THR are reporting that Jolie visited Sarajevo over the weekend and issued a statement, via the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, confirming her involvement. "The film is a love story, not a political statement," Jolie said. Shooting starts in the fall on a film about a couple who meet on the eve of the war and the effect it has on their relationship. "I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can," Jolie added. Read on!

Hanks & Bullock May Get 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'
In case you weren't aware, director Stephen Daldry (The Reader, The Hours) is helming an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Oscar winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) is writing the script which follows a 9-year-old boy after he finds a key in a vase that belongs to his father who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks. He sets off to find the lock for the key to open. The novel was one of the first to use the events of 9/11 as a plot device, and now Variety and indieWIRE report it may be the project that allows Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks to finally work together.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Lots of Zombies in Ford Bros' The Dead
They're alive! This zombie movie is set in Africa that takes the audience on "a journey across Africa with the living dead in constant pursuit." Bloody-Disgusting recently debuted this new trailer for an indie horror flick called The Dead, co-directed by brothers Howard J. and Jonathan Ford. It was shot mainly in Burkina Faso and Ghana but has an international cast including Rob Freeman and Dan Morgan. It looks quite low-budget, but not too bad, something that might actually be fun to watch with a group of genre-lovers. And since it will be showing at Fantastic Fest, I'll probably be seeing it then! Check out the trailer and tell us your thoughts?
