Jared Harris Officially Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2

Moriarty / Jared Harris

Even though rumors about the ending of Guy Ritchie's unique take on Sherlock Holmes circled around a Brad Pitt cameo as the infamous detective's nemesis Professor Moriarty. While the signature villain did make an appearance at the end of the first film, Pitt was nowhere to be seen, but neither was the character's face as we only caught a glimpse of his hand and silhouette with an unknown actor providing his voice. Now Latino Review has a big scoop on who will step into the villain's shoes for the sequel. Though it's not a big name, unless something goes amiss, Jared Harris ("Mad Men") is said to take the pivotal role.

Quentin Tarantino's Longtime Editor Sally Menke Found Dead

Sally Menke

There are plenty of people who regard Quentin Tarantino as a truly unique and visionary director, but someone had to piece all of his crazy ideas that he put onto celluloud into one cohesive motion picture. That person was Academy Award nominated editor Sally Menke who collaborated with Tarantino on Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, the Kill Bill double feature, DeathProof and Inglourious Basterds. Tragically, The LA Times reports the 56 year-old editor was found dead in the Beachwood Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles presumably succumbing to the record heat that struck the city yesterday.

Check This Out: Gorgeous French Poster for Warren Ellis' RED

RED

Don't forget that there's another indie comic book adaptation coming up next month called RED, based on Warren Ellis' WildStorm comic book series. We've featured numerous trailers and the official poster for the upcoming action comedy starring one hell of a cast: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban and Mary-Louise Parker. IMPAwards recently found a brand new French poster for RED that is actually quite gorgeous. I love the simplistic, sleek old school design and I love the "quadtych" design with the four main characters. Not that it makes me want to see this any more, but it is a damn good poster.

Fantastic Fest Review: Yoshihiro Nakamura's 'Golden Slumber'

Yoshihiro Nakamura's 'Golden Slumber

"Once there was a way to get back home..." I love seeing films at Fantastic Fest that I don't know anything about going in, yet walk out loving. Yoshihiro Nakamura's Golden Slumber is one of those films, and one that I can honestly say I truly loved. It's quite long, running over two hours, but it's a great story that kept me intrigued as it continued to relentlessly push forward. The story follows Aoyagi (Masato Sakai), a humble delivery man from Sendai, Japan, who suddenly ends up framed for the assassination of the Prime Minister and sets off on the run from the cops. It's a smart, amusing, captivating thriller that I'm so glad I got to see.

Michelle Rodriguez - Citizen Jane

Okay, what the hell is this? Yes, that's Michelle Rodriguez sporting a rocket launcher in a promo shot for an action "remake" of Orson Welles' Citizen Kane called Citizen Jane. At the infamous Fantastic Debates last night, they handed out posters to everyone coming in (to see Rodriguez box Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League) for Citizen Jane. The posters include a "release date" of 09-05-2011, Rodriguez and that's it. But we've never heard of this film before and it's not listed on IMDb. So what the heck is it? Well, SlashFilm seems to have discovered that it's for an upcoming indie flick called Blacktino that's premiering at SXSW.

Fun 'Super 8' Rocket Poppeteers Astronaut Online Quiz Pops Up

Rocket Poppeteers Viral Quiz

J.J. Abrams is a very smart guy. While he's gearing up to start principal photography on his new sci-fi film Super 8, to take attention off of the actual shooting and also hint that they know everyone is obsessed with the casting, the viral for the film has been updated with a fun quiz that seems related to the story/characters in the film. An email was sent out early today to registered Rocket Poppeteers members (original website) who applied to become an astronaut, with a link to a quiz they could take online. The questions were related to being a kid who wants to become an astronaut. It didn't lead anywhere after, but it is pretty damn cool.

Joe Kosinski Opens Up About the Recent Tron Legacy Reshoots

Joe Kosinski / Tron Legacy

A few of you may remember that back in early July, before we'd even been to Comic-Con to see any footage, that we ran a story about how Disney had brought in some of Pixar's best and brightest to take a very early look at Tron Legacy. And apparently after they saw it, they scheduled reshoots, which sadly most people immediately thought was a bad thing. But at a recent press event for Tron Legacy, director Joe Kosinski talked with Collider and explained what they're doing and why it's not that big of a deal. In fact, what they are doing is improving the film and making it a lot better, which isn't a bad thing by any means. Read on!

Must Watch: First Teaser Trailer for the Coen Bros' True Grit!

True Grit Trailer

Oh hell yes! Paramount has debuted the first badass teaser trailer for the Coen Brothers' True Grit over on Apple and it's awesome! True Grit is a new remake/re-adaptation of an old John Wayne western which was based on a Charles Portis novel. Jeff Bridges stars along with Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Barry Pepper and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld as well as many more! I've been wondering when we'd actually get a first look at this, as some say it has the potential to be a huge Oscar contender, and I definitely think it does. But can westerns still do well nowadays? I love the Coen Bros' trailers and this is yet another amazing one. Enjoy!

Darren Aronofsky Joins the Shortlist to Helm 'The Man of Steel'

Superman / Aronofsky

Though we'd recently heard that director Darren Aronofsky may be in the running to direct the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we now hear that there's potential for the auteur to make his studio film debut with another superhero. We've heard that producer Chris Nolan has started taking meetings with directors like Matt Reeves and Duncan Jones to possibly helm The Man of Steel, Nolan's Superman reboot. Now 24 Frames has discovered that Nolan may have also met with Aronofsky about the project. That's quite an undertaking for a filmmaker that hasn't directed a major studio film like this, but it's not the craziest idea.
