John Gulager Directing Piranha 3D Sequel for Dimension Films

Piranha 3D

Despite a battle of words between 3D overlord James Cameron and producer Mark Canton, Dimension Films is moving forward quickly with the previously announced sequel to last summer's hilarious tongue-in-cheek horror flick Piranha 3D. Deadline reports the creative team behind the Project Greenlight featured film Feast will be sharpening the teeth of the aptly titled sequel Piranha 3DD (just like boobs!). John Gulager will direct the bloody underwater romp form a script by writing duo Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. If that wasn't good enough, it looks like Dimension has their sights on release in August of 2011.

Mark Wahlberg Offered the Lead Role in Remake of 'The Crow'

The Crow / Mark Wahlberg

Straight out of left field comes a wholly interesting development regarding the remake, or rather all-new adaptation, of James O'Barr's comic book The Crow. Last time we updated you on the forthcoming reboot of the comic book adaptation, producer Edward Pressman said an offer was out to a major actor and things were moving ahead "very aggressively" with an eye towards shooting this year. With the end of the year on the horizon, it's unlikely the film will take off before 2011, but Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role of Eric Draven, a man brutally murdered who comes back to life as an undead avenger.

The 'Iron Chef' Chairman Appears in the 'Sultanin Sirri' Trailer

Sultanin Sirri

"Let the battle begin!" I know not everyone is an "Iron Chef" fan, but for those that are, you will recognize actor/martial artist Mark Dacascos (so that's his name!) in this trailer for a Turkish film called Sultanin Sirri. The trailer comes from Twitch and unfortunately it's not in English, but oddly enough, all of Mark's scenes are spoken in English... and it sounds terrible. It seems like they're playing with the English dialogue just to be funny, but I doubt it. Dacascos was also on "Dancing with the Stars," so he's certainly been putting himself out there more. Not that this will help, but it's still fun to see "The Chairman" actually trying to act.

First Look: First Photos from Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method

A Dangerous Method

Time for our first real glimpse at the latest film from David Cronenberg since Eastern Promises in 2007. This was originally called The Talking Cure when it was first announced, but it has since been retitled to A Dangerous Method, given that it's about psychiatrist Sigmund Freud. Viggo Mortensen stars as Freud and can be seen below. He's joined by Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung and Keira Knightley as Jung's girlfriend/patient Sabina Spielrein. This looks great already, in these photos, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Cronenberg. However, we don't know when this will hit theaters, since it still needs a distributor.

Ben Affleck May Direct Adaptation of 'Replay' for Warner Bros

Ben Affleck / Replay

After he turned down Tales from the Gangster Squad for his follow-up to the crime drama The Town, it looks like Warner Bros. found another project for Ben Affleck to helm. Deadline reports the studio is in early talks with Affleck to direct and star in an adaptation of the 1989 Ken Grimwood novel Replay, a project that spawned shortly after the book was published but never quite got off the ground. The story follows a 43-year old radio journalist who dies, wakes up in his 18-year old body, and gets to relive his life over and over, getting the opportunity to take roads he passed up the first time around. It's essentially a dramatic version of 17 Again.

Watch: First Official Teaser Trailer for Wes Craven's 'Scream 4'

Scream 4 Teaser Trailer

Dimension Films, part of The Weinstein Company, has officially debuted the teaser trailer for Wes Craven's Scream 4 online after it showed at the perfectly titled Scream Awards this past weekend. This new version, found on ComingSoon, is slightly longer than the version shown at the awards, but is still just an early teaser re-introducing you to a massive cast that is probably going to be entirely killed off by the end. This gets a bit cheesy when Rory Culkin starts explaining exactly what's going on, but maybe that's the fun in this slasher series. This has a huge cast including most of the original "survivors", and Hayden Panettiere, so have fun!

Disney's Official Theatrical Tron Legacy Poster Finally Unveiled

Tron Poster

Oh hell yes - you ready for this?! Disney has debuted the official theatrical Tron Legacy poster, which is a play on the original epic Tron poster with Flynn reaching out towards his identity disc floating above him. I wish we had a nice, clean high res version of this, but Disney chose to debut it on Yahoo, where all we've got is a shabby low res version for now (we'll update this later). There have already been quite a few posters for Tron Legacy, but this is the first official poster released besides the lightcycle teaser poster debuted late last year. I'm already in love with this poster, including the digital distortion effect over the characters. Enjoy!

'Glee' Creator May Direct 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Remake

Ryan Murphy / Lips

Though Fox's musical series "Glee" has their October 26th episode dedicated entirely to the music and fashions of the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the series creator may be spending even more time in the time warp. Deadline reports Ryan Murphy is apparently in line to direct Fox 2000's remake of everyone's favorite transvestite fueled musical. While I'm not a die-hard fan, it seems a bit excessive that Murphy gets to direct an entire episode full of Rocky Horror musical numbers only to follow it up with a remake of the entire film itself. The biggest question is whether or not die hard fans want their precious musical remade at all.

More Tomfoolery from 'Jackass' Guys Headed to Theaters Soon?

Jackass

Following last weekend's $50 million take at the box office for Jackass 3D, it's no surprise that Paramount Pictures is already thinking about bringing more of the crazy, dangerous stunts to the big screen. Though nothing is set in stone yet, there's the potential that Johnny Knoxville and the boys may be back on the big screen in just a few months. 24 Frames reports Paramount had already been looking at releasing plenty of extra footage that didn't make the final cut for Jackass 3D for an online release similar to Jackass 2.5 (available on Netflix Instant). However, now the studio is considering sending the footage to theaters.

Watch: Official Trailer for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Biutiful

Biutiful Trailer

Oh my, this is a wonderful trailer! Roadside Attractions has debuted the official US trailer via Apple for the domestic release of Alejandro González Iñárritu's Biutiful starring Oscar winner Javier Bardem. Most of you should know what to expect with Iñárritu (Amores Perros, 21 Grams), and the way this trailer starts out is just amazing. If that doesn't capture you're attention, I don't know what else will! Yes, there's a very small supernatural side to this involving Bardem, hence the people on the ceiling (also, read my review). This is a gorgeous trailer, and it also uses one of my favorite scores, too (from Ang Lee's Lust, Caution). Please enjoy!

John C. Reilly Rounds Out Cast for Polanski's 'God of Carnage'

John C. Reilly

Last month we found out that Roman Polanski's adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s dark comedy stage play God of Carnage snagged a stellar cast with Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz taking three lead roles in the film. Now Deadline reports John C. Reilly has joined the film as the final piece of the main cast in the story about two sets of parents brought together by an altercation between their children. The tension really mounts when these parents actually end up getting along far worse than their bickering kids did. Reilly will be coupled with Foster as he takes the role originated by James Gandolfini on Broadway.

Official Poster for David O. Russell's 'The Fighter' Also Unveiled

The Fighter

Yep, we've got even more from David O. Russell's The Fighter (watch the trailer) to share with you today following that fantastic TV trailer from last night. It's a big day for Paramount, kicking off quite a prominent awards campaign for this flick, but from the looks of it, it deserves it! Yahoo has debuted the official poster for the boxing drama starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, both of whom are seen on the poster. It's simple, it's got a little bit of style, it's unique, I like it. Sure, it's pretty much blank besides the two guys, but I'm still into it, maybe because I'm just looking forward to this so much. Anyway, check out the poster!
