WB & Akiva Goldsman Snag High Concept Drama 'Dark Moon'
As Michael Bay sets his sights on our lunar satellite with the blockbuster sequel Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, Warner Bros. and Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road production banner have picked up a different moon-centric story with Dark Moon. The spec script drama from writer/director Olatunde Osunsanmi (The Fourth Kind) focuses on the concept that manned moon missions did not stop with Apollo 17 in 1972. Taking a "found footage" route, the film reveals a black ops post-Apollo mission sent to the moon to explore previously classified discoveries and its unintended and disturbing consequences. Sounds pretty kick-ass.

Disney Starts Distributing Marvel on The Avengers & Iron Man 3
Big news on the distribution side of things today. Disney officially announced via press release that they've reached an agreement with Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios and will be taking over the release of Marvel's The Avengers, out on May 4th 2012, and Iron Man 3. As we all know, late last year The Walt Disney Company bought comics publisher Marvel for $4 billion in what was a massive, unprecedented deal that changed many things in the entertainment world. Its taken a little while for everything to roll over to Disney, and that includes who has the distribution duties on movies. Now the transition point has been set.

Magnet Releasing Picks Up Fun Norwegian Doc The Troll Hunter
Great news to report! Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Mark Cuban's Magnolia Pictures, has acquired distribution rights to the Norwegian mockumentary called Troll Hunter, or Trolljegeren, written/directed by André Ovredal. We've been following this film ever since we found the first teaser, then it premiered at Fantastic Fest, where Jeremy saw it and loved it. It's damn good to hear that Magnet will be bringing this to theaters. "A thrilling and wildly entertaining film, The Troll Hunter delivers truly fantastic images of giant trolls wreaking havoc on the countryside, with darkly funny adherence to the original Norwegian folklore."

Bruce Willis Looking to Retire John McClane After 'Die Hard 6'
Throughout this year we've reported intermittent updates on yet another action romp with Bruce Willis as Det. John McClane in a sequel that may or may not be called Die Hard 24/7. Though the title and details on the plot are unknown, Willis is definitely coming back for another Die Hard with writer Skip Woods (The A-Team) behind the story. Though some people think Live Free or Die Hard forced John McClane to jump the shark like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, ShowbizSpy (via Screen Crave) reveals that he'll do another sequel after the fifth Die Hard film, but the sixth film in the series will likely be his last.

Jean Francois-Richet Replacing John Hillcoat on The Revenant?
Over the past few months, we've heard about various projects that director John Hillcoat would potentially helm to follow his adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road. However, it looks like Hillcoat has since separated himself from one of the potential directing gigs. Back in May we heard the director may helm The Revenant, period action/revenge film that might star Christian Bale. Though there's no further word on casting, Pajiba has reported via Twitter that Hillcoat is no longer attached to the project and Jean Francois-Richet (above), director of the two-part crime thriller Mesrine and Assault on Precinct 13, may be replacing him.

All right, Hunt. Enough is enough. You have bribed, cajoled, and killed, and you have done it using Casting Tidbits on the inside. You want to shake hands with the devil, that's fine with me. Darren Aronofsky Set to Direct 'Wolverine 2' Starting in March
After being shortlisted to potentially direct The Man of Steel before the job went to Zack Snyder, director Darren Aronofsky had quite the decision to make. We heard the filmmaker had been offered Tales from the Gangster Squad as a consolation prize from Warner Bros, but apparently 20th Century Fox was quick to offer him another superhero in the form of the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Though it has been up in the air for the past couple weeks, Deadline has word that while Aronofsky's deal isn't totally official yet, negotiations are to the point that it's a guarantee that he'll be working with Hugh Jackman again for the comic book sequel.

Must Watch: Great Awards-Focused TV Trailer for 'The Fighter'
Whoa! After watching this new spot, I'm pretty damn sure Christian Bale is going to win Best Supporting Actor next year for this. During tonight's season finale of AMC's "Mad Men" (which everyone in the industry watches), Paramount aired this fantastic new two-minute TV trailer for David O. Russell's The Fighter, the new boxing drama out in December starring Bale and Mark Wahlberg, as well as Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. The embed is from Deadline, who exclusively debuted this awards-focused spot online. In comparison to the first official trailer, which I already thought looked incredible, this makes it look even better. Enjoy!
