Mark Wahlberg Might Be Joining Seth MacFarlane's 'Teddy Bear'
In April we heard that Universal had picked up an original hard R-rated comedy from "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane about a 33 year old man whose teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane himself) comes to life and poses problems for him as an adult when it gets in the way of a relationship with his girlfriend. Now it looks like Teddy Bear may have found its leading man as Pajiba reports Mark Wahlberg is considering the lead role in the flick. Last we heard the film would mix live-action and CG for the bear that apparently "likes to party, pick up women, smoke pot, and play video games." So he's any character from "Entourage."

Noomi Rapace, Ben Kingsley Join 'The Last Voyage of Demeter'
I imagine that only a few of you have seen Swedish actress Noomi Rapace in the Millennium Trilogy, even though her name is being thrown around a lot nowadays. It's a bit crazy that someone barely anyone knows is getting a lot of big roles, but she is a talented actress, so why not. 24 Frames is reporting that Rapace has booked a role (not still pondering) in the upcoming dark thriller The Last Voyage of Demeter, about the journey of Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to England. They say that Rapace is "set to come aboard" and will also be joining Ben Kingsley. However, an actor for the actual lead role in this still hasn't been cast.

Joe Carnahan Set to Write & Direct Endgame's Thriller 'Umbra'
We already heard that The A-Team star Liam Neeson is re-teaming with director Joe Carnahan for The Grey, a story about a group of pipeline workers who find themselves hunted by a pack of wolves after their plane crashes. Now Deadline reports Carnahan is attached to direct Umbra for Endgame, a thriller from writer Steven Karczynski which follows a man who finds an old cassette tape that reveals a horrifying secret. There don't seem to be any details beyond that logline, but Carnahan will re-write the script before he starts shooting. However, it's not clear how soon he'll start on the project since he's currently casting for The Grey.

Alec Baldwin, Gemma Arterton & Sharlto Copley Join 'MiB 3D'
Some people don't seem to be all that thrilled about the prospect of Men in Black 3D, but the impressive cast should give them a run for their money. Aside from Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones reprising their roles, Jemaine Clement, Josh Brolin and Emma Thompson are all jumping on board the sequel. Now Pajiba has word that Alec Baldwin, Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team) and Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia) are joining the cast as well. So far we know the story deals with Agent Jay (Smith) time traveling to the year 1969, but we're not exactly sure why. Details on new cast member's characters are below.

Rhys Ifans Playing Villain The Lizard in Sony's New Spider-Man!
The villain is revealed. The Wrap is reporting tonight that British actor Rhys Ifans, who was officially cast in an "unknown" villain role a few days ago, will actually be playing Dr. Curt Connors, better known as The Lizard, in Marc Webb's upcoming Spider-Man reboot (confirming a rumor from earlier this year). Well, this must really suck for Dylan Baker, who played Dr. Connors in all three of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films and was waiting for his chance to play the reptilian nemesis. The Wrap apparently confirmed with separate sources that Venom will not be in the movie and The Lizard is indeed, at least one of, the primary villains.

Michael Giacchino Confirmed for Cars 2, Super 8 & M:I4 Scores
I've made it no secret that one of my favorite composers is Michael Giacchino, and if you haven't seen Let Me In, his work in that some of the best this year. He's one of the few composers where it's exciting to hear when he gets involved with an upcoming project. We know he' is scoring Andrew Stanton's John Carter of Mars, due out in 2012, but he's got quite a few other projects on his slate. Found in a Variety profile on the composer (via SlashFilm) is confirmation that he's also set to score Pixar's Cars 2, J.J. Abrams' Super 8, and Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible IV. And I can bet he is getting another Oscar nom next year, too.

Neil Patrick Harris Making Directorial Debut on 'Aaron & Sarah'
He's been nominated for an Emmy and hosted the television awards ceremony, not to mention giving some life to the Tony awards as master of ceremonies, but his comeback started after leaving love stains in the backseat of a car in Harold & Kumar. Now Neil Patrick Harris is taking a seat in the director's chair as Risky Biz reports Harris will helm Aaron and Sarah, an indie about a geeky guy (Josh Hutcherson of The Kids Are All Right) and a popular girl (Emma Roberts of Valentine's Day) who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation.

Latest Official Poster for 'I Love You Phillip Morris' Comedy Hits
Is this finally going to get released? I first saw I Love You Phillip Morris in Cannes in 2009, and I quite enjoyed it, but I know friends who first saw it at Sundance, almost two years ago. The film has been having release troubles all year long, with delays, studio changes, and everything. EW has debuted another official poster for the Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor gay comedy (they actually play gay lovers, not kidding) and word is it may finally get released in theaters this holiday season. We've even featured a few trailers for this as well, so you should already know whether you're planning on catching it or not. Check it out below!

Eddie Murphy Joins Ben Stiller for Brett Ratner's 'Tower Heist'
Just last week we found out that Alan Alda would be playing a Bernie Madoff type villain in Brett Ratner's long gestating action comedy Tower Heist from Universal Pictures. Now Deadline is reporting Eddie Murphy is also joining the cast. Apparently he had been mentioned for the project back when it was still called Trump Heist and was supposed to feature a predominantly African-American cast. Instead the story simply follows a variety of operations and maintenance workers attempting to rip off the Wall Street crook (Alda) who lifted their pension funds to maintain his luxurious lifestyle in a spectacular Manhattan high-rise.

Javier Bardem Starring in Film Based on Chilean Miner Rescue?
As the news media has all their attention focused on the current rescue efforts to free the 33 trapped Chilean miners in the desert of Atacama, it looks like a movie deal may already be in the works. According to a report from The Thaindian News development has already started on a film surrounding the recent disaster which found 33 mine workers trapped underground for 69 days with no way out. In addition, apparently Spanish actor Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) will play a pivotal role in the film as well. The news seems a little fast, even by Hollywood standards, but considering the drama surrounding the rescue, it's not a bad idea.

Freida Pinto, Antonio Banderas & Mark Strong Want 'Black Gold'
Director Paul Thomas Anderson recently took us back to the oil fields of decades past with the period drama There Will Be Blood, but now Warner Bros. and Universal are joining forces with director Jean-Jacques Annaud (Enemy at the Gates, Seven Years in Tibet) for another oil-centric drama. Deadline reports the studios are collaborating on Black Gold the story of the rivalry between Arabian rulers in the 1930s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. Samuel Bayer Directing an Adaptation of Graphic Novel 'Tumor'
With the mediocre remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street in his rear view mirror and a forthcoming sequel already in the works, director Samuel Bayer already has an eye on moving out of the horror genre. In a report about the launch of a new company called Red Crown Productions, Variety says the new banner already has a frontrunner for its first project with an adaptation of Joshua Hale's graphic novel Tumor, which premiered at Comic-Con this past summer. Apparently Bayer is already attached to direct the story of a failed private detective who suffers from an inoperable brain tumor that causes time-bending hallucinations.
