Christopher Nolan Sets Tom Hardy for Major Role in 'Batman 3'

Tom Hardy

Though we'd heard over the summer that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been listed on a studio casting grid for the role of The Riddler in the next Batman film from Christopher Nolan (which he's finally confirmed to be directing), it seems another Inception star might step into the role. Deadline reports Nolan has set Tom Hardy (Bronson) for a lead role in the next installment of the Batman franchise at Warner Bros. However, as with everything surrounding Nolan's projects, Hardy's role is being kept secret and sources won't even confirm whether or not it's a villain role. After you get through cheering raucously, read on for our take on the news.

Michael J. Fox Appears in Re-Shot 'Back to the Future' Trailer!

Michael J. Fox

Yesterday the internet was all abuzz with the first video footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, the original actor who shot scenes on Back to the Future for five weeks before Robert Zemeckis and the producers decided to replace him with Michael J. Fox. Well the hits for the classic sci-fi flick just keep coming this year. In addition to the special screenings of of the film exclusively at AMC theaters later this month, it looks like there will be a 25th anniversary reunion staged at Spike's 2010 Scream Awards. To promote the show, Michael J. Fox appears in a shot-for-shot remake of the original teaser trailer for Back to the Future.

Check These Out: Dark, Epic Photos from Marcus Nispel's Conan

Conan

Despite seeing some finished photos of Jason Momoa as the new Conan the Barbarian earlier this year, we haven't heard much from Nu Image / Millennium Films about the movie, which has finished shooting and is waiting to be released in 2011. However, Bleeding Cool received a new batch of photos for Marcus Nispel's Conan that are mainly (what I'm calling) wide-screen shots of the sets and battle landscapes, but without any of the primary actors visible. They're very dark and very epic and I'm amazed to see how stylized this all looks. I don't know if they're all legit, but until we hear see from this, these will have to do. Check them out!

Fox Excited About Lindelof's 'Alien' Script, Wants Portman Too

Alien

I don't know about everyone else, but I really want Ridley Scott to do nothing more than finally direct the long-discussed Alien prequel next, no more period action movies or political thrillers or anything. Its been in development for a while and we learned back in July that "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof had been hired to write the latest draft of the script. While we don't usually report on scripts getting turned in because it's very mundane news, Vulture received an update from a industry spy with lots of exciting details about Lindelof's latest draft that was turned into Fox last weekend that they "flipped" over because it's so good.

Alice Eve and Luke Evans Joining John Cusack in 'The Raven'

Evans / Eve

Back in August we learned that John Cusack would play Edgar Allen Poe in James McTeigue's period thriller The Raven. The story follows the last five days before Poe's odd death, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in his stories. Now Heat Vision says Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) and the positively stunning Alice Eve (She's Out of My League) will join Cusack in this. Evans is replacing Jeremy Renner (who chose to take a role in the next Mission Impossible instead) as a detective who partners with Poe (Cusack) to search for the aforementioned killer who has kidnapped the author’s fiancée (Eve).

Worth Watching: Lena Dunham's Quirky 'Tiny Furniture' Trailer

Tiny Furniture Trailer

Support independent films! Apple has debuted a trailer for an IFC Films indie film called Tiny Furniture that's written, directed and stars New York native Lena Dunham. It's a quirky little comedy of sorts about a college graduate who returns to live with her mom while figuring out what she's supposed to do with her life now. There's a little bit of romance, a little bit of comedy, a little bit of drama, it looks quite good, I must say. The film also received some rave reviews from critics at the numerous festivals its played at, so we know it's pretty good. Thought I'd give this upcoming indie a little bit of love today. Check out the trailer below!

Brian Henson Sells Dark Puppet Comedy 'Happytime Murders'

Muppet Film Noir

The Henson name is synonymous with puppets, and Brian Henson, the son of the late Jim Henson, is still continuing the family legacy, albeit in a slightly different direction. Heat Vision reports Lionsgate has picked up Happytime Murders, a comedic thriller from writer Todd Berger (with Brian Henson directing) which takes place in a world where humans and puppets co-exist, but the non-humans are considered second-class citizens. When a puppet cast of an 80's childrens show called "The Happytime Gang" starts to get murdered one-by-one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes the case with his human partner.

Tarsem Singh Offered to Helm The Brothers Grimm: Snow White

Tarsem Singh

The battle of competing projects with a fresh take on the classic fairytale of Snow White is heating up. While we haven't had any developments on Francis Lawrence's Snow White and the Seven, and Universal's Snow White and the Hunstman has only just recently started development, it looks like Relativity Media has taken the lead in the race. Vulture reports the financier turned pseudo-studio has offered their fairytale iteration, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, to director Tarsem Singh (of The Cell, The Fall) for his next gig. However, Universal isn't too pleased with Relativity's move for a number of reasons. Find out why below!

Sam Rockwell & Ari Graynor Are Joining Jonah Hill in 'The Sitter'

Rockwell / Graynor

Though the actor can be seen stretching his dramatic chops in a limited release of Conviction this weekend, Sam Rockwell hasn't turned his back on comedy. The Wrap says Rockwell is in final negotiations to play a villainous drug dealer in David Gordon Green's comedy The Sitter starring Jonah Hill. The film follows a college dropout (Hill) who agrees to look after three mischievous kids as a favor to his mother. He's forced to take kids with him while he scores some drugs for a girl, but when the deal goes bad, the night turns into a wild chase through New York City, where Hill proves his mettle as a babysitter. And hilarity will ensue!
