Watch: Trailer for Cameron's 3D Underwater Thriller 'Sanctum'!
Capitalizing on the James Cameron buzz today, Universal has debuted the first official trailer (via Apple) for Sanctum, the James Cameron-produced 3D underwater action-adventure movie shot entirely in Australia. Sanctum features an Aussie cast including Richard Roxburgh, Rhys Wakefield, Alice Parkinson, Dan Wyllie and Alice Parkinson. This starts out a lot like The Descent, with an expedition to some caves, but everything goes wrong and they must go underwater, and that's when things get intense. This trailer is a bit top heavy, but it still looks good, or at least I'm sure the 3D will look great, as this was shot on Cameron's 3D cameras.

James Cameron Will Officially Be Directing Avatar 2 and 3 Next
More very big news today to report on. An official press release from Fox and Lightstorm (via Deadline) has announced/confirmed that James Cameron has agreed to make Avatar 2 and 3 as his next films. He was apparently considering directing that Cleopatra movie with Angelina Jolie at Sony, but Deadline says "Fox made a 'huge' donation to his environmental green fund, and in return he committed to making the Avatar sequel... That also caused him to withdraw from Sony Pictures' Cleopatra." Fox is targeting December 2014 and 2015 release dates for the two back-to-back sequels, but hasn't set anything in stone. Ready to go back?

Third Batman Movie is Officially Titled 'The Dark Knight Rises'
And here we go... Our good friend Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex got on the phone with Christopher Nolan recently and got a big update straight from the man himself. The third Batman movie will be officially titled The Dark Knight Rises as his follow-up and epic conclusion to the fantastically unforgettable The Dark Knight from 2008. Nolan confirmed a few other things as well: that it won't be in 3D, that he will shoot with high def and IMAX cameras (again) instead, and that the villain is not Riddler nor will Harvey Dent be back at all. So there you have it, now we know the title and a bit more about where he's going with this. Read on!

Niels Arden Oplev Adapting Jennifer Egan's Thriller 'The Keep'
He made quite a splash with the foreign adaptation of Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and now director Niels Arden Oplev has lined up a new project with the young production company CBS Films (Extraordinary Measures). RiskyBiz reports that the filmmaker will direct an adaptation of Jennifer Egan's best-selling novel The Keep with writer Ehren Kruger (The Skeleton Key) writing the screenplay. The trade describes this as The Ring meets Inception with a story within a story about two cousins with a shared secret who reunite to renovate a legendary haunted medieval castle that turns dreams and nightmares into reality.

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Infuses New Kenny Ortega Project
After the concert documentary This Is It chronicled the making of what would have been the farewell tour for Michael Jackson, it seemed like Hollywood was done exploiting focusing on the King of Pop in motion pictures. However, Deadline has word on a new project inspired by one of Jackson's most praised works. Apparently a company called Real Effects Entertainment has been shopping around a film package with a story fashioned around the hit songĀ Thriller, which is also largely considered the best music video of all-time. In addition, This Is It director Kenny Ortega is attached to direct from a script by The Break-Up writer Jeremy Garelick.

Zach Galifianakis Might Get a Cameo in Disney's 'The Muppets'
Is it just me or does it feel like Zach Galifianakis is in pretty much everything. Yes, he's funny, but we're starting to get to an overload point, I think. How about yet another movie he'll be in? Entertainment Weekly says that Galifianakis is likely to join the cast of The Muppets, the upcoming Jason Segel-written, James Bobin-directed revival of the beloved Jim Henson puppets. His manager told EW that they're "talking about it" which means it's not confirmed, but I'm sure it'll happen, as he's the perfect guy to show up in this. The Playlist found another report adding that he will be shooting for a few days, presumably for only a cameo.

Darren Aronofsky Developing New Sci-Fi Project 'Machine Man'
Holy crap, this project came out of nowhere! Heat Vision is reporting that acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky is now developing a "cybernetic thriller" called Machine Man for Mandalay Pictures. While it sounds like this is based on a comic book, it's actually based on an original idea from author Max Barry that is first being written as a novel then adapted as a script by Mark Heyman, who co-wrote Black Swan with Aronofsky. They do mention that he's still working on closing his deal to direct Wolverine 2, which will most likely start shooting next year, but it sounds like this could be after that if everything falls into place on time.

Peter Segal Directing Geriatric Boxing Comedy 'Grudge Match'
Later this year audiences will be privy to some drama inside the boxing ring with David O. Russell's highly anticipated The Fighter. However, it looks like some laughs will be thrown along with punches as Deadline reports director Peter Segal (Get Smart, Tommy Boy) will helm Grudge Match, a boxing comedy from writer Tim Kelleher. This sounds like Grumpy Old Men meets Rocky with a story about two bitter boxing rivals who are coaxed back into the ring for a grudge match 50 years after they last fought for the title. A wild casting rumor recently popped up, but we held off spreading it. Keep reading to find out who might face-off in this comedy.

Matthew Broderick & Tea Leoni Join Brett Ratner's 'Tower Heist'
The cast for the long gestating original heist comedy Tower Heist just keeps getting bigger. Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Gabourey Sidibe and Michael Pena are already on board and Deadline had found out last week that Tea Leoni (Ghost Town) had been thrown into the mix as an FBI agent who sympathizes with the overworked, plotting manager and falls for him. Now Deadline has word that Matthew Broderick has come aboard the film as Chase Fitzhugh, a Wall St. guy who, like the building staff, had his finances cleaned out by the greedy villain played by Alda. Seriously, how many people are going to be in this movie?

Watch: Daft Punk's 'Derezzed' Music Video from 'Tron Legacy'!
Not that we need more to make us drool over Tron Legacy, but another music video has popped up today for Daft Punk's "Derezzed" track (found on Tron-Sector). We've been talking about Daft Punk's work on the soundtrack a lot recently, as they revealed their own official poster recently and released a promo photo that everyone went crazy over. This is just a big cherry on the top, though I suggest starting to throttle how much you see from this, so as to not get overexposed. Anyway, it's an awesome music video with a lot of cool footage, some from Comic-Con, plus it's also great to know that Daft Punk will be in the movie, too. Enjoy!

Tom Hardy Circling Key Role in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'
Many fans were excited by the news that Inception star Tom Hardy had snagged a major, unrevealed role in the next Batman movie from Chris Nolan. In addition, we recently heard that he's one of the frontrunners for the lead role in Total Recall. Though his schedule seemed rather crowded, it looks like he's making time to squeeze in a project between production on the McG action comedy This Means War with Chris Pine, and the upcoming sequel to The Dark Knight. The Playlist reports that Hardy is close to signing a deal to take a major role Snow White and the Huntsman, one of the many fairytale adaptations now in development.

Confirmed: Mark Wahlberg Starring in Seth MacFarlane's 'Ted'
Briefly: We reported a few weeks back that Mark Wahlberg was circling, but not fully confirmed, for the lead role in Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane's feature directing debut - a movie called Ted about a 33 year old man (Wahlberg) whose teddy bear (to be created with CGI and voiced by MacFarlane) comes to life when he's young and poses problems for him as an adult when it gets in the way of a relationship with his girlfriend. Deadline confirmed the news, saying Wahlberg is currently "negotiating" and hopes to shoot this next year after finishing a remake of Contraband. No more speculation, Wahlberg is pretty much set.
