James Marsh's 'Shadow Dancer' Gets Guy Pearce & Rebecca Hall
After winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary with the stellar Man on Wire, director James Marsh moved onto 1980, the second fact-based installment of The Red Riding Trilogy (now available on Netflix Instant). Now Variety reports the director is set to adapt Tom Bradby's novel Shadow Dancer, the story of a young woman who is a former IRA terrorist turned informer for Britain's MI5. Rebecca Hall (The Town) is in talks to take the lead role, and the watchful eyes at The Playlist noticed that Unanimous Pictures also has Guy Pearce listed on their own website as having some sort of role in the film as well.

Oren Peli Set to Direct 'Eliza Graves' from Edgar Allen Poe Story
Though he may not be able to snag a cameo in The Hangover 2, it looks like Mel Gibson is still staying busy behind the camera. His Icon Productions banner has just set up a new project with breakout director Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity). Variety reports the filmmaker has signed on to direct Eliza Graves, a film loosely based on The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether, a short story by Edgar Allen Poe. The film will follow a Harvard Medical School graduate who takes a job at an insane asylum, unaware of the fact that it has been taken over by its occupants. In a way, it kind of sounds like the exact opposite of Shutter Island.

Bruce Willis, Paul Walker & 50 Cent Unite for Heist Film 'Set Up'
Though he's starred in such acclaimed films as The Sixth Sense and action favorites like the Die Hard franchise and The Fifth Element, as of late, the work of actor Bruce Willis has been hit or miss. However, it's still a little disappointing to report that the big name action star is attached to a new heist film with some truly underwhelming talent. Variety reports Willis will star opposite rapper-turned-actor Curits "50 Cent" Jackson and mannequin-turned-actor Paul Walker for Set Up, an action-driven heist flick written and directed by Mike Gunther which follows a group of friends who are catapulted into the middle of a diamond heist that turns deadly.

Watch: DreamWorks' First Fun 'Kung Fu Panda 2' Teaser Trailer
He's back! I know I'm not the only one who was surprised by how great DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda was when it hit theaters in 2008. Thankfully it did well enough to warrant a sequel and DreamWorks has been working on one ever since. I had a feeling we might see a trailer, with their latest movie Megamind arriving in theaters this weekend. Vlicious found a copy of their first teaser trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2 with Jack Black and it's already hilarious. This is a true teaser, so there's not much footage, but it is a lot of fun. I'm sure a lot of you saw this in theaters this weekend in front of Megamind anyway, but check it out!

Casting Tidbits: Kyra Sedgwick, Steve Carell and Jenna Fischer
God of Rock, thank you for this chance to kick ass. We are your humble servants. Please give us the power to blow people's minds with our high voltage Casting Tidbits. In your name we pray, Amen. First up, Deadline reports Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer") has landed a role in Summit Entertainment's thriller Man on a Ledge. The story follows a disgraced cop (Sam Worthington) who stands on a ledge atop a high rise threatening to kill himself, but the suicide threat is really a distraction from a diamond heist happening elsewhere. Sedgwick will play a reporter trying to figure out if the cop's threats of suicide are genuine or if he has an ulterior motive.

Spielberg Initially Wanted an Animated 'Harry Potter' Years Ago
This isn't so much news as it is a fascinating story worth reading and discussing. Plus it gives me a chance to make mention of an absolutely fantastic new article on Hero Complex that looks back at the entire Harry Potter franchise and how it all came together. One segment they pulled to highlight that was very amusing to hear, is about how Warner Bros offered Steven Spielberg the chance to direct the first few Harry Potter films, but he wanted to make them animated and condense the first couple books. How's that for a totally different concept, now that we've seen six full-length live-action Harry Potter movies. Read on for the story!

Indie Trailer Sunday: Worthington & Knightley Star in 'Last Night'
"Have you thought about what he might be doing right now?" Another sticky relationship drama to feature today, but this time it comes in the form of a steamy independent film. Last Night, written and directed by Massy Tadjedin, stars Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington as a married couple, each of whom start striking up relationships with others. Those other attractive folks are Eva Mendes and Guillaume Canet, making this quite an intriguing cast. The trailer was found by Awards Daily. It kind of reminds me of Closer in a sense, a big crisscrossed relationship drama that might all work out in the end. Watch the trailer below.

Timur Bekmambetov Behind Secret New Sci-Fi Project 'Apollo 18'
I love surprises like this. Apparently there's a creepy found-footage sci-fi thriller called Apollo 18 that hits theaters in March 2011. Deadline says the film recently sold to The Weinstein Company, but it may already be in production and finished filming. Behind it is Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov, who presented purported footage shot by the crew of Apollo 18 to the Weinsteins, who financed the feature. That Apollo 18 moon mission from the 70s was officially canceled by NASA, but according to an urban legend, it actually happened. Timur's footage shows signs of alien life, and the mission is crafted into a found-footage thriller.

'Zombieland' Writers to Adapt Comic Book 'Cowboy Ninja Viking'
The American cowboy, the ninja, and the Viking form a triumvirate of toughness seldom equaled. Deadline is reporting that writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, most known for Zombieland, have been set as the writers behind a new adaptation of the comic book Cowboy Ninja Viking. Disney, of all places, acquired the pitch for a feature with the writers on-board. The basis is a comic book by AJ Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo, published last year by Image Comics. One might say this is could be a nice compliment to Cowboys & Aliens, the Jon Favreau adaptation due out next summer. However, they have completely different stories.

First Look Photos: Seann William Scott in Hockey Movie 'Goon'
It's hockey time! This isn't Kevin Smith's hockey comedy (that's titled Hit Somebody), but Goon is another hockey comedy, directed by Canadian Michael Dowse. It's currently shooting and MTV just debuted a few new photos. Seann William Scott plays Doug, a small town bouncer who, after "physically" defending his best friend, played by Jay Baruchel, at a hockey game, is recruited to play the enforcer for a minor league team. It's basically a good ole time hockey flick and that means plenty of fights and hocke. You can see two photos below, plus one on their site. "[This is a movie for] guys that are sick of PG blood and just nonsense."

Check Out an Awesome Teaser Poster for 'Hobo With a Shotgun'
We ruffled a few feathers when we raved about the insanely badass trailer for Jason Eisener's Hobo With a Shotgun starring Rutger Hauer, but I don't mind, because I think this looks awesome. There's already a whole bucket load of buzz for this flick and we don't even know where it's premiering! Ain't It Cool News got their hands on a giant high res version of the poster for Hobo With a Shotgun that is being used to sell the indie film at AFM. It's an awesome old school-style poster packed with great visuals from the film. If you're also excited for this, or even if you aren't, you need to check it out below. And watch a trailer if you haven't!
