Scarlett Johansson Joining Cameron Crowe's 'We Bought a Zoo'
Though she's attached to that recent Species-like erotic sci-fi film Under the Skin, the stunning Scarlett Johansson was still in consideration for a lead female role in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby and Cameron Crowe's forthcoming adaptation of We Bought a Zoo. For now, she's at least snagged one of them as Deadline reports Johansson is in final negotiations to join Matt Damon in the latter of those two adaptations. The story from a memoir from Benjamin Mee follow's the author's own family that bought a rundown mansion in the English countryside which included the 30-acre Dartmoor Wildlife Park, home to over 200 animals.

David O. Russell & Ice Cube Making 'Dirty Harry' Style Franchise
They previously collaborated on the war flick Three Kings, and now it looks like director David O. Russell and rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube are re-teaming in a big way. Deadline reports the duo are working with New Line to create an all-new franchise in the same vein as 70's revenge films like Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry films. Don't worry, they're not looking at remaking any of those classics, but apparently the film will be a raw, R-rated drama which calls back to that certain style of film with a plainclothes detective who's quick on the trigger. However, development is still in the early stages with a story still being figured out by Cube and Russell.

Timberlake & Kunis in a Red Band 'Friends with Benefits' Trailer
Now I know why this one is coming out in the summer. Screen Gems has released a raunchy red band teaser trailer for their upcoming comedy Friends with Benefits, which is the other movie with that same title, as No Strings Attached had to change theirs, but both of them pretty much have the same plot anyway. Friends with Benefits stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis (so beautiful) as, well, friends with "benefits" and things get a bit funky when they try to get much more romantic. Yep, this is making every Mila Kunis dream come true. This also stars Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Patricia Clarkson, Andy Samberg & many more.

'Hot Tub Time Machine' Director Behind 'Toxic Avenger' Remake
Back in April we found out that The Toxic Avenger was getting tossed in the remake machine for a family friendly PG-13 action comedy similar to The Mask starring Jim Carrey. Now Deadline has word that director Steve Pink, the seemingly family unfriendly filmmaker of Hot Tub Time Machine, will direct the "green" remake for these environmentally conscious times. No new details on the story for this new adaptation have surfaced, but the original centered on a mop-wielding simpleton named Melvin, whose trusting ways made him easy prey for thugs who tossed him into a vat of toxic waste, thus turning him into The Toxic Avenger.

Zac Efron Offered a Lead Role in Warner Bros' Live-Action 'Akira'
There seems to be a lot of casting news flying around today, but this is one report I can admit I am genuinely excited to hear. Both SlashFilm and Bloody-Disgusting were tipped off that Zac Efron, last seen in Charlie St. Cloud and 17 Again, has supposedly been offered a lead role in Warner Bros remake of the anime Akira. This epic two-part adaptation has been in the works for a few years after WB spent lots of money to buy the rights. The Hughes Brothers, of From Hell, The Book of Eli, are currently set to direct, but we haven't heard they have the greenlight yet. Plus, one source says Efron is in talks, the other says it's "far from a done deal."

Completed 'Tron Legacy' Triptych Banner Pits Clu 2.0 vs Flynn!
When we showcased a new poster for Tron Legacy earlier this week with a digitally young Jeff Bridges as Clu 2.0 standing in front of a fleet of light jets, it was actually the first third of a three-part triptych banner. Rather than releasing the second part by itself, we decided to wait until the full banner was completed, and in my opinion, this is the best poster for Tron Legacy we've seen yet. I know we've featured plenty of posters for the movie and have kept the hype machine well oiled, but we're kind of hoping this will be the last poster we'll highlight. This triptych puts the war between Clu 2.0 and Flynn on full display. Check it out below!

Casting Tidbits: Dame Judi Dench, Bill Nighy & Aaron Eckhart
Over?! Did you say "over"? Casting Tidbits isn't over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! First up, Daily Mail reports (via The Playlist) that Dame Judi Dench will have a small role in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides within an opening escape sequence involving Johnny Depp's swashbuckling schemer Capt Jack Sparrow. Apparently Sparrow will find himself making a getaway by jumping into a carriage belonging to a noblewoman played by the actress. Sparrow supposedly uses his irresistible charms to ravish her whilst taking the time to rob her ever so indiscreetly.

Pauls Haggis Reveals His Newest Ensemble Drama 'Third Person'
The last time an ensemble drama was in the hands of Paul Haggis, he delivered a melodramatic piece aimed right at the heart of racism with Crash. Apparently he must be doing something right since that film went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture, and now he's poised to make yet another dramatic ensemble film. 24 Frames recently chatted with Haggis while promoting his forthcoming film The Next Three Days (in theaters November 12th) where he revealed his current focus is a previously unknown script titled Third Person. The film would be an ensemble drama following three different couples around the globe and their romantic relationships.

Watch: First Teaser Trailer for Kevin James' Comedy 'Zookeeper'
Welcome to his jungle. Columbia/Sony Pictures has debuted a teaser trailer via Apple for their upcoming summer comedy Night at the Zoo, er I mean just Zookeeper. Basically, Kevin James plays a zookeeper who discovers that the animals can talk, and they're actually helping him hook up with a girl. So it's kind of like Night at the Museum in that everything in this zoo comes to life can talk with James. It has an amazing voice / supporting cast: Rosario Dawson as the love interest, Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Ken Jeong, Leslie Bibb, Donnie Wahlberg, Jon Favreau, Cher, Judd Apatow (as the Elephant) and many more. Enjoy!

Mysterious 'Black Swan' Feathers in the Mail + Viral Site Update
Ohhh boy, I love virals. I randomly found a black envelope in my mailbox today sent from a "Nina Sayers" in Beverly Hills. I instantly recognized the name, but was anxious to see what was inside. I opened it to find nothing but two feathers - one black, one white - and that's it (bigger photo below). Hmm what could this be for? Maybe Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan! Yes, Nina Sayers is the character Natalie Portman plays in the movie (watch a trailer) and she's vying for the lead in Swan Lake, a ballet where her character changes from a white swan to a black swan, so it all makes sense. I found something hidden on the viral website, too!

Check This Out: First Great Poster for Mel Gibson's 'The Beaver'
We're a bit late on posting this, but better late than never, right? Ever since Mel Gibson went bat sh*t crazy earlier this year, the status of his latest quirky independent comedy, The Beaver, has been up in the air, as the distributor is appropriately a bit afraid and unsure of releasing it. The Beaver is the wacky film, directed by Jodie Foster from an acclaimed Black List script written by Kyle Killen, starring Mel Gibson as a guy who wears a beaver puppet on his hand around. We posted a few set photos late last year, but haven't seen much from it otherwise. Collider snapped a photo of this sales poster that was found in promo material from AFM.
