ENJOY THE SHOW

Review: DreamWorks' Megamind is Forgettable Fun for Everyone

DreamWorks Megamind

It's odd to think that a film like Megamind, a film called Megamind, no less, would make the viewer feel they have a multitude of holes in their brain. Sure, the film is funny. Sure, the story is actually interesting and has honest to God messages deep rooted within it. Sure, the animation is very clean, about as clean as anything not from Pixar can be. But something happens after the viewer, one who has thoroughly enjoyed themselves, walks out of the movie theater after watching Megamind. While much of the imagery and a lot of the story mull around in their brain, the laughs, the force at the center of the movie, slip from memory

Review: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is a Tedious Finale

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

It should have been called The Girl Who Practiced the Law of Diminishing Returns instead of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. It makes more sense, and, just like this third and final film in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, it is cumbersome and feels awkward in every part of its execution.

Lisbeth Salander, the titular Girl from all three films, is back again, and, after unearthing and taking on neo-Nazis and discovering her sadistic father is alive (not to mention welcoming him with a well-placed ax to the head), she's bringing down the system. Sounds interesting, right? Wrong. She does so from within the

Sally Field in Early Talks to Play Aunt May in Webb's Spider-Man

Sally Field / Aunt May

After finding out only hours ago that Martin Sheen would play wise Uncle Ben in Marc Webb's forthcoming reboot of Spider-Man, and now it looks like we also have some talent for the charming, feisty Aunt May. Heat Vision is reporting that Sally Field (Forrest Gump, "Brothers & Sisters") has been cast as the pivotal supporting character who becomes the only family Peter Parker has left in his life after the tragic death of his Uncle Ben. At least that's how the story played out in the comics and Sam Raimi's adaptation previously, so we can certainly expect Aunt May to become quite a pillar in Peter Parker's crazy superhero life. Read on!

Wilson & Sudeikis Star in the Farrelly Brothers' 'Hall Pass' Trailer

Hall Pass Trailer

Holy crap another trailer today for another new comedy?! Yep, I guess so. New Line Cinema has unveiled their trailer via Apple for the newest comedy from the Farrelly Brothers called Hall Pass starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. As usual, they've lined up an impressive cast to join in the fun, including: Alyssa Milano, Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate, Alexandra Daddario, Vanessa Angel, and even Richard Jenkins. It's a very long trailer for another relationships-are-screwed-up comedy where two guys get a week off from marriage without any consequences, dubbed a "hall pass." It doesn't look that bad. Watch below!

Adam Sandler's New Romantic Comedy 'Just Go with It' Trailer

Just Go with It Trailer

Oh great, another new trailer for a mediocre romantic comedy showing just how screwed up relationships are in our modern world (the other one is No Strings Attached, in case you didn't see that one, too). Sony has premiered the trailer for yet another rom-com called Just Go with It starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, as well as Nicole Kidman, Heidi Montag, Brooklyn Decker, Bailee Madison and Nick Swardson. Does anyone else think Jennifer Aniston is no longer a celebrity to care about, or is it just me? Come on, she's not all that anymore. This isn't my kind of flick, so I'll leave other opinions up to you guys.

Martin Sheen Cast as Uncle Ben in Marc Webb's New Spider-Man

Martin Sheen / Uncle Ben

Now this superhero reboot is coming along quite nicely, if I might say. Heat Vision reports that 70-year-old Golden Globe winning actor Martin Sheen, last seen in Imagine That and Love Happens, has been cast in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot at Sony as the lovable Uncle Ben. I really hope I don't need to explain to anyone who Uncle Ben is, but if you need a recap, head over to Wikipedia. Sheen joins a cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as, according to The Wrap, the villain known as The Lizard. Shooting on the new Spider-Man will start in December for a 2012 3D release.

Depp and Burton's 'Dark Shadows' Finally Set to Shoot Next Year

Tim Burton / Dark Shadows

Though we knew it was coming soon, despite rumors that Tim Burton mind end up working on something else in the meantime, Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros' new take on Dark Shadows, with Johnny Depp starring as the vampire Barnabas Collins, will start shooting next April. Burton will be directing from a screenplay re-written by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith, as John August (Big Fish, Corpse Bride, The Nines) wrote the first draft. It was originally supposed to start production this year, but was pushed to January, now all the way back to April. But at least it's pretty much ready to go now!

Natalie Portman & Ashton Kutcher in 'No Strings Attached' Trailer

No Strings Attached Trailer

Paramount has unveiled the first official trailer over on Moviefone for their upcoming early-2011 romantic comedy No Strings Attached, directed by the legendary Ivan Reitman, starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher as a couple who try to "keep their relationship strictly physical." So Natalie Portman in a sex comedy? That's more than enough, I'm already in! The cast also includes Cary Elwes, Kevin Kline, Lake Bell and Olivia Thirlby. This doesn't look that amazing, but it does look a lot more edgier than this Reitman (not his son Jason) has ever gone before. But I'm not sure, it might end up pretty good. What do you think?

Second Official Trailer for Peter Weir's New Film 'The Way Back'

The Way Back Trailer

More indie trailers today! Newmarket Films has unveiled another official trailer via Yahoo for the domestic release of Peter Weir's The Way Back, his new survival film based on a true story about a group of soldiers who escaped from a Siberian gulag in 1940 and traveled over 4000 miles across some of the most dangerous terrain in the world. The film stars Colin Farrell, Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. We featured an international trailer last month that looked great. This new trailer is a bit different, but still has an epic feel to it. Weir's visuals look amazing and it seems like an incredible story as well. Check it out!

Must Watch: New US Trailer for Sylvain Chomet's 'The Illusionist'

The Illusionist Trailer

Sony Pictures Classics has debuted a brand new official US trailer over on Apple for Sylvain Chomet's The Illusionist, the French filmmaker's follow-up to the animated hit The Triplets of Belleville. This charming animated film follows a old, last-of-his-kind magician who leaves France and heads to Scotland, where he meets a young girl that still sees the magic in him, at least as an illusionist (not romantically or anything). I saw this at the Telluride Film Festival (read my review) and enjoyed it quite a bit, it's a beautiful film that is unquestionably a joy to watch. We don't see many films like this, so be sure to go out of your way to see it.

Relativity Media Plans to Crack an Adaptation of 'The Bible Code'

The Bible Code

We've already seen Ron Howard and Tom Hanks tackle The Da Vinci Code, which contained adventures of literally Biblical proportions, but today Relativity Media announced via press release that they have picked up the rights for an adaptation of Michael Drosnin's future predicting book The Bible Code. The first book spawned a series which is The series is based on a 3000 year-old code in the Bible found by a top Israeli scientist and confirmed by a senior code breaker at the US National Security Agency. It reveals momentous historical events, and predicts the future, but probably doesn't know who will be Zack Snyder's Superman.
