Downey Jr Leaves 'Gravity' But Still 'Knows How to Talk to Girls'
As was previously mentioned as a possibility, Heat Vision now reports Robert Downey Jr. has officially dropped out of Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi film Gravity. But as one project loses the talent of Downey, another is fortunate to pick it up. Apparently the actor is circling an adaptation of a book written by a 9-year old boy. How to Talk to Girls, an advice book on how to deal with women, began as a school project for the young Alec Greven, but a publishing deal and three more books shows this is more than just child's play. Though a draft was previously written, the project is now being developed as a future vehicle for Downey. Read on!

Phew: Zemeckis NOT Directing a 'Wizard of Oz' Remake After All
Woops! Looks like Deadline jumped the gun a little early on this story, but no worries. Yesterday one of the biggest news stories claimed that Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis was "in talks" to direct a remake of The Wizard of Oz using the original 1939 script. Well, The Wrap got in touch with various reps, including Zemeckis' publicist, and learned that the report was "completely untrue" and Zemeckis had only just taken a meeting and was Warner Bros' top choice (of course), as he probably is for everything. Instead, he'll continue work on Yellow Submarine, which starts shooting next year, and leave this entire idea alone.

Denis Leary in Marc Webb's 'Spider-Man' as Capt. George Stacy
At the beginning of the month we found out that Martin Sheen and Sally Field has joined Marc Webb's new iteration of Spider-Man as Uncle Ben and Aunt May, the parental figures in Peter Parker's life. Now it looks like another supporting cast member has popped up on the side of love interest Gwen Stacy's family. Heat Vision reports comedian/actor Denis Leary ("Rescue Me") is negotiating to join the superhero franchise reboot as Captain George Stacy, Gwen's father and police officer who frequently came into contact with Spider-Man in the comic books. He becomes quite a point of contention between Stacy and Parker, but the reason has spoilers.

Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego Now Helming Bekmambetov's 'Apollo 18'
It's been just over a week since we heard about the secretive new project Apollo 18 from producer Timur Bekmambetov and the production has already had a change of the guard. When we first heard about the project, freshman director Trevor Caewood was attached to direct it, but now Deadline is reporting that Spanish filmmaker Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego has now taken over the project. Apparently the director has a good relationship with Bob Weinstein since Dimension released his film King of the Hill, and The Weinstein Company is behind Apollo 18, the connected dots pretty much explains the shift behind the camera.

HBO's Sam Kinison Biopic from Tom Shadyac to Hit Big Screen
No matter how praiseworthy HBO's forays into motion pictures might be, their films like Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack are almost always confined to the small screen. However, it looks like the story of the late, great comedian Sam Kinison is big enough to warrant a big screen release. Variety now reports the long-gestating biopic of Kinison not only has Tom Shadyac (Bruce Almight) attached to direct, but will also be given a theatrical release. Based on the 1994 book Brother Sam: The Short, Spectacular Life of Sam Kinison by the comedian's brother Bill Kinison, the film has been in the works for about ten years.

Big Surprise: 'Paranormal Activity 3' Hits Theaters October 2011
Since the first sequel has raked in $156 million worldwide so far, and it only cost about $3 million to make, it's no surprise that Paramount is eager to get Paranormal Activity 3 off of the ground. Though no details are known about the story yet, the second film offered some hints and possible paths the next installment might go. Spoilers ahead!

Must Watch: First Badass Teaser Trailer for 'Cowboys & Aliens'!
Yet another movie to look forward to next summer! Universal has debuted the first teaser trailer via Yahoo for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, the comic book adaptation starring Daniel Craig as Civil War vet Jake Lonergan. The cast also includes Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer and Clancy Brown. The footage I saw at Comic-Con was awesome, and this teaser is plenty of that same stuff, but it's still great to see. Favreau is an expert at building up buzz and this teaser will do just that - it looks great! The aliens have an old school, vintage sci-fi feel and the western stuff look solid. Enjoy!

Emily Blunt Might Have 'Five Year Engagement' with Jason Segel
Before the lovely Rose Byrne took the role of raunchy pop starlet Jackie Q in Nicholas Stoller's comedy spin-off Get Him to the Greek, the role was initially supposed to feature the talents of the radiant Emily Blunt. However, because Fox still had an option to throw her in another film (thanks to her contract from The Devil Wears Prada), the studio decided to put her in the shittier-looking comedy Gulliver's Travels and thus cause her terrible embarrassment. But while doing that film, she was able to work with Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), and now Vulture reports the two may reunite for Five-Year Engagement, another romantic comedy from Stoller.
