Jay Roach Directing Galifianakis and Ferrell in Political Comedy
As if there wasn't enough hilarity on screen when Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis have their own separate films, now the two hilarious actors are teaming up for a political comedy from director Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents). Deadline has a brief report that a new pitch is being shopped around to studios this week that would see Galifianakis and Ferrell as two candidates running in the 2012 presidential election. Deadline sites the fact that a female candidate would make the film more relevant, but Tina Fey is probably busy. Considering political comedies have been mostly lacking aside from In the Loop, this sounds great.

Webb's Spider-Man Casts Second Villain & Peter Parker's Parents
With production looking to start later this month, the cast of Marc Webb's new Spider-Man has a few new additions. We've already gotten word of Rhys Ifans taking a villainous role as The Lizard, but apparently a second villain is being brought into the mix. Heat Vision reports the already villainous sounding actor Irrfan Kahn (Slumdog Millionaire, The Namesake) is negotiating to take the role of Van Atter, a villain that no fan seems to be aware of in the Spider-Man universe. And though we've already heard Martin Sheen and Sally Field are playing Uncle Ben and Aunt May, it looks like Peter Parker's parents will appear onscreen for the first time ever.

Watch: Official Trailer for Soderbergh's New Spalding Gray Doc
IFC Films has just released an official trailer over on Apple for Steven Soderbergh's new documentary about the late, great actor, playwright and performance artist Spalding Gray, who most of you might know from the play/film Swimming to Cambodia. The doc is called And Everything Is Going Fine and Soderbergh "distills 25 years of rare and revealing footage to construct a riveting final monologue." One of my greatest memories from college is having a whole discussion dedicated to Spalding and Swimming to Cambodia, so I will consider myself a fan. I'm very excited to see this, and luckily it'll be hitting theaters fairly soon. Enjoy!

Rob Reiner Really, Really Wants to Adapt Musical 'Next to Normal'
It looks like This Is Spinal Tap/Stand by Me/The Princess Bride director Rob Reiner, most recently of the wonderful Flipped, wants to get into musicals next. Playbill.com (via The Playlist) posted new quotes from Reiner recently, who stated very enthusiastically that he is "dying to make" a movie version of the acclaimed musical Next to Normal. "The picture that I would love to make... I've been lobbying for this since it went on Broadway. [It] just recently won a Pulitzer Prize and won a couple of Tonys, called Next to Normal," he said. But they don't say whether or not he actually has the rights yet, so for now it's just hopeful speculation.

More Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon Sequels Coming?
We're already aware the DreamWorks Animation has sequels on the way for Kung Fu Panda (check out the teaser trailer here) and How to Train Your Dragon, but apparently there's plans beyond the next installments for even more adventures. Empire recently sat down with DWA's Jeffrey Katzenberg who talked about plans for several sequels for each franchise and even a fourth installment of Madagascar (the third will hit in 2012). In short, Katzenberg mentioned plans for six chapters of Kung Fu Panda, three chapters for How to Train Your Dragon, and four total films for Madagascar. Find out what he had to say about each of the franchises below.

Two More Back-to-Back 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Sequels Next!
If you were worried that just one more dive back into the ocean with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides wasn't going to be enough to quench your thirst for Captain Jack Sparrow then you are in luck. HitFix reports Disney has been quietly telling cast and crew to save a big chunk of their time in the near future to shoot a the fifth and sixth installments of their successful franchise back-to-back. This isn't surprising since the second and third sequels employed the same technique, but honestly, I thought the latter sequels suffered the same plight as the Matrix sequels with more cohesion only within the last two films rather than all three.

Steve Carell & David Steinberg Team for Documentary on Comedy
Though both started out as student's of Chicago's improvisational comedy scene in Second City, Steve Carell and David Steinberg have taken very different paths. While Carell is well known for his talents onscreen in "The Office" or films like Date Night, Steinberg's talents have mostly been behind the camera directing for series like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Mad About You." But now Deadline report the two are teaming up for a currently untitled documentary on the evolution of comedy which will look back at 60 years of laughs. As someone who's always taken notice of the comedic trends fluctuating every ten years or so, this is great news.

More Photos from Kevin Smith's Horror Film 'Red State' Unveiled
Now we finally get a good look at the cast. Hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement that Kevin Smith's new horror film Red State would officially be premiering at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, a batch of new photos from the film recently hit the web. ShockTillYouDrop is where I first found them and you can check out three shots below, plus one more of an actress on their site. Not surprisingly, this actually looks like a solid indie horror about some teens who "encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America." In addition John Goodman, there's one photo of Michael Parks as crazy Pastor Abin Cooper.

TWC Finally Unveils an Impressive Poster for 'The King's Speech'
So, although most of you probably still haven't seen this wonderful film yet, I'm going to keep talking about it because it deserves the attention. When TWC, who picked up The King's Speech at Sundance, debuted the official poster, the entire movie community went crazy with frustration at how terrible it looked. We featured the official UK quad poster because it was actually pretty good, but after all the complaining, TWC finally put out a brand new poster on Yahoo. Alas, it's just an "online" poster, but it's a huge improvement, and I actually like it. It's simple yet has strong visuals and actually fits the film. Check this poster out below!

Check These Out: Star Wars Characters Help Teach Kids the ABC's
Just recently we featured a small batch of Star Wars crossover posters bringing some of the epic trilogy's signature style to films of the past like Cool Hand Luke and Empire of the Sun. Now we have something that not only features some cool Star Wars artwork, but also aims to teach kids their alphabet in the coolest way possible while helping to benefit the future of another future fan of the holy trilogy. Graphic designer Brandon Peat (a friend of a friend) and his pregnant wife Emma wanted to figure out a creative way to decorate their baby's room but with a geeky twist. The result was A is for Ackbar, featuring a myriad of Star Wars characters and the ABC's.

Three Stooges Movie Heads to Fox and Plans to Shoot in March
That's right, folks. Despite the fact that both Jim Carrey and Sean Penn have officially dropped out of the Farrelly Brothers long-gestating adaptation of The Three Stooges, it looks like the film is still on the track to production. Deadline reports the project that was once situated at MGM has now move to 20th Century Fox with Bobby and Peter Farrelly still attached to direct from their own script which they wrote with Mike Cerrone. Of course, the big issue plaguing the project is a complete lack of a cast. It's not even clear whether or not Benicio Del Toro is still attached to play Moe. No matter where this project goes it seems doomed.
