TGB Episode 40: Enter the Grid (Guest: Tron - Bruce Boxleitner)
On this week's very special Tron-themed episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim and Jeremy are joined by our editor Alex Billington to conduct a Q&A with Tron himself - actor Bruce Boxleitner. As we all know, Tron Legacy (watch the trailer!) hits theaters on Friday, and Boxleitner returns after 28 years to play Alan Bradley again. Listen in as the guys go over the phenomenon that is Tron and hear a few of Bruce's stories of the making of the first and second movies. Due to a small technical glitch, this episode is simply just the talk with Boxleitner this time, but it's 56 minutes long and definitely worth listening to, so check it out below!

Must Watch: First Trailer for Fox's Water for Elephants Adaptation
Wow now this looks wonderful - The Tree of Life might have some competition. Fox has debuted the official trailer on Apple for Francis Lawrence's adaptation of Sara Gruen's beloved Water for Elephants. This period drama features an impressive cast: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz, James Frain, Hal Holbrook and Paul Schneider. It's about a veterinarian who joins the local circus and falls in love and so on. This is just a fantastic trailer, a great way to introduce the heartwarming story and incredibly well put-together, plus the movie just looks mesmerizing and I love the music they use, too. Watch & enjoy!

Clint Mansell Not Scoring 'Source Code', Replaced by Chris Bacon
Back in September, it was announced/confirmed that one of our favorite composers, Clint Mansell, would be working with director Duncan Jones (Moon) again on his film Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal. The trailer was revealed in November and everything looked good, but Badass Digest (via SlashFilm) is reporting that Mansell is off of the project due to "scheduling" conflicts, which seems a bit suspicious but we'll leave it be. Instead, the score will be composed by newcomer Chris Bacon, who's worked as an engineer/composer on many films including Waking Sleeping Beauty, Space Chimps, King Kong, Defiance, Duplicity and more.

'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff is One 'Sexy Evil Genius'
Many sci-fi fans have already been privy to the beauty of Katee Sackhoff as Starbuck on SyFy's Battlestar Galactica, but now Heat Vision reports she's going for the gold by becoming a Sexy Evil Genius. The dark comedy will be directed by Shawn Piller (the showrunner on ABC Family's "Greek") working from a script by Scott Lew. The story will follow a group of strangers brought together at a downtown Los Angeles bar by their mutual ex-girlfriend (Sackhoff). The woman is mysterious about her intentions, but by the night's end, revenge will be had, romance made and the wronged woman's deliciously diabolical plan will be complete.

Robert De Niro Confirms Al Pacino & Joe Pesci for 'The Irishman'
Though the director just confirmed that Robert De Niro would collaborate again on The Irishman for the first time in 15 years, Martin Scorsese didn't address the reports that Al Pacino and Joe Pesci would also be participating. However, MTV caught up with De Niro himself, and the actor revealed that Pesci and Pacino are very much involved with The Irishman. A reunion of big names from various mobster films, the story will follow the life of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a reputed criminal responsible for more than 25 mob murders and potentially being involved with the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Jimmy Hoffa.

Favreau Explains Why He Left Marvel for Disney's Magic Kingdom
Time for an explanation. Yesterday it was not-so-surprisingly announced that Jon Favreau would not be directing Iron Man 3 for Marvel Studios and that he was actually "parting ways" with Marvel. Since that hit, there have been wild allegations regarding the break-up, including a report on ComicBookMovie about Favreau and Robert Downey Jr's friendship falling apart because Iron Man 2 "sucked." But Hero Complex says "other folks report rumors but we have the ONLY interview with Jon Favreau about his departure from the Iron Man franchise and his plans for Magic Kingdom, which will bring Disneyland to life." Read on!

Nick Cassavetes Directing Biopic on John Gotti Jr and His Father
Though he's been behind the camera for touchy-feely, tearjerker dramas like The Notebook and My Sister's Keeper, director Nick Cassavetes has also ventured into darker territory with Alpha Dog. Now it looks like he'll venture into the world of mobsters as Variety reports the director is in talks to direct a biopic about reformed criminal John Gotti Jr. and his mobster father, the late head of the Gambino crime family. After a life of violence and crime, the elder Gotti spent the last ten years of his life in jail before succumbing to cancer in 2002. While the crime family aspect of the story seems like the obvious focus, the film will center on the father and son relationship.

'Corpse Bride' Co-Director Mike Johnson Looks to Start 'Oz Wars'
While it sounds like we don't have to worry about a Wizard of Oz remake anytime soon, that doesn't mean other filmmakers aren't interested in journeying to the great land of Oz with some different stories. We know Sam Raimi is set to direct Robert Downey Jr. in Oz: The Great and Powerful, and it looks like another director is ready to go down the yellow brick road. Variety reports Mike Johnson, who co-directed The Corpse Bride with Tim Burton, will direct the CG/stop-motion animated film Oz Wars for Vanguard Films. The story sees Dorothy caught in a whirlwind of warrior witches, black magic, martial arts and monsters with a contemporary touch.

Universal Pictures & SyFy Channel Form Theatrical Film Banner
While they're usually more concerned with making wacky, low budget, made-for-TV sci-fi films, it looks like SyFy Ventures is ready to step up their game. Today the long-running science fiction channel announced a partnership with Universal Pictures to launch SyFy Films, a company that will create films for theatrical release to be distributed by Universal. Sticking to the usual genres of sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural and horror the new banner is looking to deliver two films every year starting in 2012. Like the rest of you, I'm hoping these films will be far superior to SyFy's usual film content like Sharktopus and Mega Snake. Read on!

'Brokeback' Writers on Westerns for Scott Cooper & Ridley Scott
Though writers Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana haven't scripted a feature film since the controversial Brokeback Mountain, the duo is sticking to the western world, albeit with a little less man-on-man action. Deadline reports the writers are behind two developing projects for two different directors. They're already working on an adaptation of Paulette Jiles' novel The Color of Lightning at 20th Century Fox with Ridley Scott lined up to direct and they're also in the midst of a deal at Warner Bros. for an adaptation of S.C. Gwynne's novel Empire of the Summer Moon which will be directed Scott Cooper, the director of Crazy Heart.

Check This Out: Nifty 'Toy Story 3' By The Numbers Infographic
Despite already hitting DVD/Blu-Ray about a month ago, we're happy to always keep talking about Pixar's Toy Story 3, mostly because it's one of 2010's best movies and because Disney is pushing a campaign for it to win Best Picture at the Oscars (it just got a Golden Globe nomination). We've reported on the animated movie becoming the highest grossing in the US during the summer and highest grossing for Pixar itself, but how do all the numbers stack up now that it's out on DVD? SlashFilm found a rather awesome infographic on all things Toy Story 3 on the site Milo, including a look at the franchise and all its merchandising sales.
