Back in August I was simultaneously excited and infuriated because a slick new poster for had been released to promote a 25th anniversary theatrical re-release of the classic film Back to the Future. I was excited because it's not everyday a new official poster for such a great film pops up and infuriated because the wide theatrical re-release was only happening in the United Kingdom. However, fans in the United States finally have some good news as AMC Theatres announced today that they will be holding special screenings of Back to the Future on 158 screens in over 40 cities. It's not perfect, but I guess I can't complain too much.
The screenings will take place on Saturday, October 23rd at 12:30pm and Monday, October 25th at 7pm in select theaters. A comprehensive list of all theaters isn't currently available but you are able to purchase tickets on AMC Theatres' website where you can attempt to find the nearest theater hosting the event. The film has been digitally remastered, so you won't be watching an actual celluloid copy, but everyone who buys a ticket will receive a full-sized movie poster commemorating the 25th anniversary release of the film. Each theater will also have their own movie-related giveaways before the screenings actually begin. This isn't the most ideal re-release I was hoping to have for the 25th anniversary of one of my favorite films of all-time, but it could be worse. Are you going to see Back to the Future in theaters?
