Big 'Tron Legacy' Viral Update: The Final Countdown Has Begun!

"Your gaming acumen has brought us to the brink of success - it's now or never!" We're coming down to the last few weeks (there's only 16 days left!) before Joseph Kosinski's Tron Legacy hits theaters and that means the two-year-long viral game is working towards its epic conclusion. The website FlynnLives.com just updated with a big new message and a link, stating that "The Final Countdown" has begun and the search is on to find Kevin Flynn. The new post links to a big viral puzzle involving some 12 cryptic pentagon pieces that must be put together. Help us figure this out! "The time has come - we will find Kevin Flynn!"

As is usually the case, these aren't easy puzzles to solve, so we're still stuck trying to decipher this and figure out how to put together the pieces to unlock the next level. Rest assured, this is going to lead to somewhere big, possibly a screening or Daft Punk event or something like that, so make sure you follow along. The site with the new viral puzzle is located at flynnlives.com/gygax/ and can be seen below. Each piece has cryptic symbols on it. And if you click the small boxes on the lower right and upper left corners, they provide some sort of key that we have yet to figure out as well. You can help in here or follow on the Unfiction boards, too.

We'll continue to update this post as we see new updates arrive. That photo of the Tron sticker above comes hidden in the message boards on FlynnLives.com, which makes me believe this might end up being a locally involved event, but we haven't seen anything like that yet. Update: Well that was quick. We're not exactly sure how, but the guys on Unfiction solved the puzzle you see directly above and found a link to a new website at: flynnlives.com/digitalpulse/. Found on here is the update we've been waiting for - another local 16 city viral event following Kevin Flynn, that starts on December 8th next week. The site contains a countdown timer for the big launch next week and a flyer for Kevin Flynn's book tour that has been "revised" for Tron in 2010. "We need an operative on the ground in every city that Flynn visited. There is important evidence there, and we're tracking down every shred of it."

"If we retrace his steps, maybe we can finally learn the truth." I can't wait to see where this heads and I'll definitely be out in the field myself. I have a possible solution to the first part of teh puzzle here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/Squiggly_P/gygax_solution_001.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/Squiggly_P/gygax_solution_002.png I'm guessing one must print this out and fold it, or do some photoshop editing to get it to make something readable or some other clue. I've been playing with it for a while and have found some interesting circular/hexagonal glyphs with markings inside them. They look like they could be something to do with Encom. They look very much like the Encom "E" logo, which is just a capital E with a hexagonal border. These glyphs don't make sense to me, tho...

The first puzzle is the gygax one. By solving it, and manipulating it in Photoshop Google overlaying different cubes on eachother, you get letters that spell "epiphany". This leads to http://www.flynnlives.com/epiphany. This is another puzzle. You have to erase all the text that is floating in the screen. And you will be left with a bunch of letters floating. They will form a word during a nanosecond. So printscreen is recommended. And it will spell digitalpulse. This also works with http://www.flynnlives.com/digitalpulse There is a countdown there ticking down till about 8 am western time next wedensday. And assumedly there will be a big ARG event in 16 cities there. There is also a poster there which is referring to the booktour of Kevin Flynn. This has several words underlined which spells out ten6rgtakaks This code can be used on helloflynn.com to unlock a new audio clip from his book tour and to earn a new badge on flynnlives.
