Carla Gugino Replacing Salma Hayek in the Thriller 'Faster'

Back in a January edition of our Casting Tidbits we reported that the voluptuous Salma Hayek would be taking on a role in the George Tillman directed, Joe and Tony Gayton written, revenge/heist thriller Faster. However, at the end of last month, in the midst of all the Sundance madness, Hayek dropped out of the project due to scheduling issues leaving an open spot for a new female cast member which Variety says has just been filled by another vixen, Watchmen's original Silk Spectre, the lovely Carla Gugino. She'll play a detective, hot on Dwayne Johnson's revenge trail and hell-bent on connecting the killings of an old case.
In Faster, Johnson plays an ex-con who is out to avenge his brother's death after they were double-crossed during a heist years ago, but he's being trailed by a veteran cop. More than beautiful, Gugino is a talented actress who has taken on her fair share of unique roles. She'll be holding her own along with the likes of other beautiful, though, I think, somewhat less talented actresses in Maggie Grace and Moon Bloodgood - also both cast in this. I'll be waiting for a trailer before I full pass judgment on this flick simply because the concept is so generic, but has the potential to be a fun ride, depending on where George Tillman takes it.
