You know you're not really Peter Pan, don't you? This is only a dream. When you wake up, you'll just be Peter Banning - a cold, selfish man who drinks too much, is obsessed with Casting Tidbits, and runs and hides from his wife and children! First up, after hearing about Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten joining Peter Dinklage in the horror comedy Knights of Badassdom, Bleeding Cool has a new scoop that Summer Glau (Serenity) and Danny Pudi ("Community") will also be joining the crew of LARPers who who find themselves facing more than their imagination when a real-life demon with a taste for blood and souls.
Second, Production Weekly is reporting (via The Playlist) that Amber Heard (Pineapple Express) and Rosamund Pike (Fracture, An Education) are in early talks to join the cast of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. Pike had been the subject of recent speculation for the role of Emma Frost (it was very iffy, so we didn't even run it as a rumor), but this new rumor has her potentially lined up to play Professor X's assistant Moira McTaggert who had a small appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand. Meanwhile, it is also said that Fox has "strong interest" in Amber Heard to play a young Mystique, the changeling character brought to life in the original X-Men franchise by Rebecca Romijn Stamos. None of this is official, so stay tuned.
Next, The Courier Mail newspaper (via ComingSoon) revealed that stunning Australian supermodel turned actress Gemma Ward has landed a small role in Disney's upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. While I think she' s much too pretty to be playing a pirate, Penelope Cruz is already in the swashbuckling mix, so I guess that nixes that argument. On the other hand, maybe Ward won't end up playing a pirate but one of Sparrow's many female companions who slap him around from time to time. Actually it's neither since she's playing a sexy mermaid. The actress won't shoot her scenes until August, so Johnny Depp and new cast members like Cruz, Ian McShane and Stephen Graham will already be in full swing by then.
Finally, STYD caught an update from actor Nico Tortorella (who also stars in Joel Schumacher's Twelve) who revealed, via Twitter, that he had landed a role in Wes Craven's franchise sequel Scream 4. The actor updated, "Huge news today!!!! Just officially got cast in Scream 4!!!! Today is always the best day of my life." No word on which role he'll be playing but SlashFilm speculates (by looking at the casting call) he'll play Trevor Sheldon who is described as a “handsome high school jock, but quiet and intense, as though a secret hangs over his head. He joins Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin when the film starts shooting this month in Michigan.
Well, that's all for this edition of Casting Tidbits. Be sure to stay tuned for more casting updates on the way.
