Casting Tidbits: Hall Pass and Criminal Empire for Dummys
by Ethan Anderton
March 11, 2010
I love the smell of Casting Tidbits in the morning! First up, Variety has another in a long stream of casting updates for the Farrelly Brothers comedy Hall Pass. This time it's Richard Jenkins (The Visitor, Step Brothers) and Bruce Thomas (Let Me In, "Kyle XY") who have both been added to an all-star cast which already includes Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate and Alyssa Milano. In the story of two married couples whose wives give the husbands a "hall pass" to engage in extracurricular affairs, Jenkins will play Coakley, a man who never settled down and Thomas a baseball player. Read on!
The other update, also from Variety, announces that Gary Oldman (The Book of Eli, The Dark Knight), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), and Milo Ventimiglia ("Heroes") have joined an indie gangster flick titled Criminal Empire for Dummys. Also starring Michael Clarke Duncan and Harvey Keitel, the story marks the directorial debut of writer Cliff Dorfman (working from his own script) and follows a charismatic young man (Ventimiglia) who relates the do's and don'ts of running a criminal empire through a flashback to his own rise from a tragic childhood and life in the ghetto to eventual position as a multinational drug and criminal kingpin. We could all use a good education on how to become a successful criminal.
That's it for this edition of Casting Tidbits! Stay tuned for even more casting news coming down the line!
