After living in Chris Nolan's dream world in this summer's runaway hit Inception, Heat Vision says Cillian Murphy will next be living forever in the sci-fi drama I'm.mortal. Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord of War) is directing with Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake already signed on to star in this story set in the future when the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, and the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. And with this, Murphy continues his trend of choosing unique and interesting roles.
The plot follows a poor man named Will (Timberlake) who suddenly receives a fortune (of time I assume?), but becomes the target of a murder investigation. While on the run he kidnaps an heiress (Seyfried) which doesn't seem like the best idea to help his case. Meanwhile, Murphy will play an officer from an organization known as Timekeepers who is apparently "as precise as the time he keeps." This sounds like an incredibly unique sci-fi story but, like Inception (or Niccol's Gattaca before this) still somewhat grounded in nature. We'll definitely be paying close attention to this for more updates, that is for sure. Anyone interested?
