Darren Bousman Directing Psychotic Killer Movie 'Ninety' Next

Darren Bousman

Although we haven't seen any trailers yet for former Saw director Darren Bousman's new horror remake of Mother's Day, producers on another project he's attached to seem anxious to already announce that new project. THR states that Bousman will next direct another new horror film called Ninety written by Scott Milam, who also wrote the Mother's Day script. The plot in the film follows a psychotic killer hoping to set a record by committing 90 murders. Whoa! The film will shoot during the summer in New Mexico in 2D and then be converted to 3D (of course). I don't know what you guys think, but this sounds like it could be crazy.

Unfortunately details are very sparse on this project, as this is the first time anything has been reported on it. When I finally watched The Hitcher (remake) for my first time last year, I was absolutely shocked by how many people the bad guy kills. The body count in that movie is just insane and he kills anyone and everyone who stands in his way everywhere he goes. While I don't think there will be any similarities between Ninety and The Hitcher, I'm in awe thinking about watching a serial killer rack up 90 kills in one movie. I'm already predicting that the twist will be that the 90th is our protagonist, a cop or whomever, or something like that.

Darren is a fun horror popcorn flick director so im soooo down to see this! Sounds like a cool story.
  • I can't bring myself to watch the Hitcher remake. The original - which is one of Christopher Nolan's favourite films - was so good, so stylish and otherworldly, the remake just seemed like a terrible idea from the start. But anyway, back on topic. Bousman seems like a nice bloke in the commentaries I've listened to so I'll give this a shot. I'd rather he was doing something else weird like Repo! though. And he's already shot films digitally, so why not shoot in 3D from the start rather than convert? If Paul Anderson can, anyone can...

Horror/slasher is my favorite genre and I am all for anything new in the serial killer subsection of the genre especially after being dissapointed by "How To Be A Serial Killer"....could have been so much better than it was. I'm holding out hope that Bousman delivers!
