Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man

Apparently anything we've written about French filmmaker Pascal Laugier (of Martyrs) over the last few years has been about the Hellraiser remake now in the works, which Laugier was attached to for a while, but we've never talked about his next film that he's shooting right now. Laugier's new thriller is called The Tall Man and it stars Jessica Biel as well as Stephen McHattie, William B. Davis, Samantha Ferris and Jodelle Ferland. That photo and logo above come from ShockTillYouDrop, who got their hands on some media while browsing through AFM this morning. Alas, that's all we've got for now, but more photos should come later.

Here's the setup for The Tall Man: A darkness hovers upon the town… children have gone missing over the years leaving neither a clue nor a witness. Superstitious locals talk of The Tall Man, a legendary, mysterious dark figure who takes children away never to be seen again. Biel plays a nurse who wakes up one night and finds "a huge dark figure stand[ing] in the entrance holding her son David." So now the chase is on and with it the quest for answers: who is The Tall man? What becomes of the children? Intriguing premise, I'm very curious to see/hear more about this. The indie is shooting now and also looking for a distributor at AFM this week. We'll keep you updated on anything we hear. STYD says they'll have more photos, so check back later.

I never would have recognized Jessica Biel in that picture. I thought it was some Indian (the native American kind) dude. >.< The story sounds good. Made me think of Slender Man, the creepy fictional character that can be found in tons of freaky stories and photoshopped pictures around the net, lol.

if this this is gonna be like Martyrs, but with children...count me out. I can stomach ANYTHING, but I had a hard time getting through Martyrs. Good movie, though., but sad as hell. I can't imagine what visuals will be in store for this film.

This does sound like Slender Man. Just not as mind-fuck frightening.

@ #2: Jessica has some Native American blood in her 🙂 So does Burt Reynolds, Quentin Tarantino (Brad Pitt character in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS is half "Injun"), Val Kilmer, Heather Locklear, Cindy Crawford (!), Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Alba, Teri Hatcer, Bob Mitchum (Original CAPE FEAR), Kim Basinger (Irish, Swedish, Cherokee).
