Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan

Whoa! is one of the first words that comes to mind looking at these. It was recently announced that Darren Aronofsky's new film Black Swan, somewhat of a supernatural ballet drama/thriller, was going to open the Venice Film Festival in a few months. In response, USA Today has published a first look feature with the first official photos from the movie, including some very wild shots of lead actress Natalie Portman in full make-up for her performance. In addition to Portman, Black Swan also stars Mila Kunis as her rival dancer, Winona Ryder, Sebastian Stan, Barbara Hershey and Vincent Cassel (who can be seen in one photo below).

I've put all four of the primary photos together below, but you can click to read the full story on USA Today.

Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan

As the plot is the most important part, here's a better look the story in this thanks to USA Today: "The dark tale with psychological twists stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a technically brilliant ballerina whose life takes some strange turns after being picked as the lead in a [NYC] production of Swan Lake. Pressures mount as her overbearing mother (Hershey) pushes her to succeed and her manipulative dance master commands her to be more seductive and loose in her performance. Complicating that is the arrival of Lily (Kunis), a sultry dancer who exhibits all the innate ease and sexuality that Nina lacks. Nina begins to fixate on the newcomer as the two forge an unusual relationship." This looks quite interesting, I can't wait to see more. Stay tuned!

Man, I would watch this movie if it was about glue drying. Natalie, Mila, and Winona! The trifecta sent from heaven. It will be nice to see what Aronofsky pulls off with this. the story sounds interesting enough.

Beautiful images - can't wait for the film! The screenplay is interesting but not most extraordinary thing ever - however it'll take an Aronofsky to make it into a great movie and I hope he'll succeed just like he did with every one of his movies to date.

Vincent Cassel? I'm in. Also: Natalie Portman is easily one of the most beautiful and seriously talented actresses of our time. Damn this looks great.

i'll rent but i'm not sold this will be worth seeing in a theatre. (a trailer could change my mind)
  • looks good, I'm hoping for those weird dreamy sequences he makes, luckily he doesn't pump out shit like Tim Burton so his style doesn't get boring. Possibly because he actually changes it up a little.
