Indie Trailer Sunday: 'Night Catches Us' With Anthony Mackie
Now this is an indie trailer I'm truly happy to feature today. Night Catches Us was a Sundance selection that gained quite some critical praise at that festival earlier this year but hasn't gained much buzz elsewhere since. That said, I've been keeping my eye on it, and now that this trailer is out, I thought I'd feature it. The film stars Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and Kerry Washington (Lakeview Terrace), with music by The Roots, and is a powerful drama set in the 70's following the Black Power movement. This looks like a wonderful drama with amazing performances all around and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Watch below!

Set in 1976, complex political and emotional forces are set in motion when a young man (Anthony Mackie) returns to the race-torn Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up during the Black Power movement.
Night Catches Us is both written and directed by first-time filmmaker Tanya Hamilton, of only a 1995 short called The Killers previously. Shot mostly in Philadelphia, this first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was later acquired by Magnolia Pictures for limited US distribution. Night Catches Us premieres on VOD (via Xbox, Amazon) on October 29th, and opens in theaters on December 3rd this year.
