Inherit Jacques d'Azur's Weekend in Cannes with Stella Artois

Jacques d'Azur

Yesterday morning the official selection for the 63rd Cannes Film Festival was announced and with only 26 days until the fest kicks off, it's time to start early preparation. First, I am officially announcing that I will be attending Cannes again this year, for my second year, and I already can't wait to go. Additionally, both SlashFilm and I have been sponsored by Stella Artois for the festival and will be spending plenty of time in their lounge on the Croisette. But until then, I should tell you about the contest Stella is running where you could win an entire trip to this year's Cannes by inheriting the "King of Cannes" Jacques d'Azur's weekend.

Jacques d'Azur, born in France's Cote d'Azur, is a full time bon-vivant known for his "work" on the red carpets and swimming pools of the French Riviera. D'Azur quickly became a legend of Cannes and, with the years, his legend grew. Many famous stars appearing at the festival for their first time were eager to get his autograph. Relatively unknown beyond the Riviera and the playgrounds of the world, his notoriety failed to travel and is only now beginning to be appreciated. Unfortunately, he has gone missing, but his last will and testament included an heir to his lavish weekend at the Cannes Film Festival, but the name is illegible. So instead, Stella is "searching" for someone to take the place and inherit Jacques' lavish weekend in Cannes.

Although d'Azur is a fictional character (or is he?), Stella has put together a pretty impressive set of photos (see his Flickr) and a series of videos (see his YouTube) as a bit of a viral for the contest. If you're interested, all you need to do is visit StellaArtois.com and use that site to connect the contest with your Facebook account. It then shows an introductory video reading Jacques' will and integrates photos of your friends into the video (it's actually pretty cool). After that, you'll be able to "add your name to the will" (see below) and sign up for the chance to win the trip. Sounds like a hell of sweet deal, I'd enter myself if I were allowed to.

Add your name to the will - Inherit Jacques d'Azur's Weekend

The only rules mentioned are that you have to be at least 21 considering Stella is an alcoholic beverage, and unfortunately California residents cannot apply (or win) due to a law in this state (sorry guys!). If you need any more incentive to sign up, visit their Facebook page or check out any of the videos on any of their official website. If you win, you will be able to hang out with us at the Cannes Film Festival this year, rub elbows with celebs on the red carpet, and drink some fine beer courtesy of our friends at Stella. With a great line-up of films this year, it will be an experience like none other. You may even have a better time than us!

Stay tuned as we continue to prepare more early coverage of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. Given this is a film festival that's 6000 miles away, located in the South of France, with a heavily international line-up of films, we want to know what kind of coverage you'd like from us (reviews, video blogs, daily blogs?). Thank you to Stella for this opportunity. Visit StellaArtois.com for more info. See you on the Croisette next month!

CA Excluded. Gee, how thoughtful of your sponsor, Alex.

The state of California doesn't allow for contests like this. Don't blame Stella Artois, blame Arnie. Perhaps if you give him a call and mention Jacques d'Azur he will make an exception...I'm sure he's a fan...
  • Sorry about that guys. Exactly what #4 said. Blame the state laws, not Stella!
