Merry Christmas from the Francos! Fox Searchlight has been running a viral campaign for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours that involves sending out shirts that say "I Kept My Eyes Open for 127 Hours" and a website at ikeptmyeyesopenfor127hours.com, where you can request a shirt. They're playing off of all the occurrences of fainting, which happened separately at both showings I attended. The star of the film, James Franco, is home for the holidays and recorded a video on Funny or Die (via Deadline) with his grandma with a special message to everyone who hasn't seen 127 Hours yet. It's a fun video definitely worth watching today. Enjoy!
127 Hours is directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, of Trainspotting, The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Slumdog Millionaire previously. "We want it to be a challenge for you guys as well... to see if you can watch it," Boyle said. Obviously some folks couldn't make it through. In the first look post, Boyle said "you will want him to cut off his arm by the end." The film is based on the true story of Aron Ralston (watch our interview) who chronicled his experience in the book Between a Rock and a Hard Place, adapted by Simon Beaufoy and Danny Boyle. 127 Hours is currently playing in theaters nationwide now - see it if you haven't!
