Piranha 3D

Despite a battle of words between 3D overlord James Cameron and producer Mark Canton, Dimension Films is moving forward quickly with the previously announced sequel to last summer's hilarious tongue-in-cheek horror flick Piranha 3D. Deadline reports the creative team behind the Project Greenlight featured film Feast will be sharpening the teeth of the aptly titled sequel Piranha 3DD (just like boobs!). John Gulager will direct the bloody underwater romp form a script by writing duo Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. If that wasn't good enough, it looks like Dimension has their sights on release in August of 2011.

Though production is hoped to begin as soon as possible, but it's uncertain which surviving members of the original cast will return and what new victims will become blood in the water. Apparently the writers are supposed to finish the script in the next four weeks, so development is moving quite swiftly. Normally a rushed production schedule would spell bad news, but considering that much of the scenes can be summed up with "she takes off her clothes" and "piranha feast on the body," it should not be too difficult. Dunstan and Melton are no strangers to bloody deaths having written four of the Saw sequels, so there should be plenty of gruesome death in the water next summer. Excited?

The first one was awful! The movie literally just ended with absolutely no conclusion. Big fish jumps out of water for obvious sequel. [FADE TO BLACK] ... leave audience thinking wtf. [END MOVIE]

Hell yeah. The first one was fantastic. I'm excited for this, but i'll reserve my judgement for the final product, just like with the first film. Although the screenwriters behind SAW doesn't exactly get me hard, ya know?

I actually thought it was funny, ridiculous plot holes but funny enough. Probably better for 3d than Avatar which was boring.

LOVED Piranha 3D. If they film the sequel, I'll check it out if it's any good. And remember, no one's holding a gun to your head to see the film....

Piranha 3D was great! And Gulager? He's fantastic. The Feast trilogy was fanstastic. http://www.facebook.com/brianriccireviewmovie

It's funny that they're calling it Piranha 3DD, especially considering that the reboot/remake(really nothing like the original at all)was just called Piranha, with the 3D only on the posters...

    Love the title.

Rush job ... bad talent attached ... yeah, I can't wait. Feh. It might look easy to make a gloriously fun B-movie, but it's not. Switching out the director and screenwriters reveals the project is a cash grab, nothing more.
