Clash of the Titans / Jonathan Liebesman

Don't worry, he'll bring us a kick ass sequel. It was first mentioned back in June that director Jonathan Liebesman, who's currently working on the alien invasion action flick Battle: Los Angeles, was one of the top contenders to take over for Louis Leterrier on Warner Bros' Clash of the Titans sequel. Though early reports in the last few days first stated that he wasn't fully ready to sign on, Heat Vision now reports that Liebesman has officially signed a deal and will be directing Clash of the Titans 2 next following Battle: LA. Sam Worthington and the rest of the cast will be reprising their roles, with the script coming together now.

This sequel will actually be shot in 3D this time, not converted in post-production. Liebesman's got a lot of work ahead of him to recover from the negative opinion towards this year's remake, from both critics and the general public. Knowing his style, though, I've got a feeling he'll shoot this much grittier and hand-held, more "right into the action" than Leterrier's version, but it's all about the script being good that's the most important. Speaking of which, a treatment was written by Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern), Dan Mazeau (The Flash) and David Leslie Johnson (Red Riding Hood), with the latter two currently writing the screenplay.

I know everyone's initial response to this news is probably going to negative, but give Liebesman a chance to turn things around and bring us an awesome sequel. I have a feeling most of you guys will really love Battle: Los Angeles and if he can bring the same intense action and style to the Clash of the Titans universe, along with a great story, there's a good chance he could recover this franchise and deliver a movie we can all enjoy. Pre-production is probably starting right away, so stick around for updates throughout the rest of the year.

first part was Visual great, and im not talking about effect, im talking about everything we saw (environment etc) but script was just.. booooooring? bland and to simply in a "saw this before" way. Lets hope thta second will be better, and i think it will, couse its not to hard to make better then first one.

Yeah.... "Clash 1 reboot" was aiiight at best and felt like kind of a throw back to all those 90's formula action flicks. There wasnt much development from a Battle Skills standpoint and I hope this can expand of the "Titans" aspect or more of the greek gods and demigods (WHICH is SO expansive). I'll wait to see this Alien flick before i get excited about the new director.

I liked The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), so this could be good.
  • I loved The Killing Room so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Is this a joke? Jonathan Liebesman of such terrible films as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Darkness Falls? Why is this good news?

I'll see it, the remake wasn't that bad. but there had better be a 2-D option.
