Justin Timberlake Joins the Cast of Jake Kasdan's Bad Teacher

Justin Timberlake

I hate that I have to report this news just because it's Justin Timberlake, but, I do. Sony has sent out a press release tonight announcing that J.T. has joined the cast of Jake Kasdan's new comedy Bad Teacher. Already cast in the film are Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, and Lucy Punch. They also add that two other new actors will be joining the cast: Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") and Molly Shannon ("Kath & Kim"). We last wrote about Bad Teacher last week when it was also announced that Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins were joining the cast. Basically we've had nothing but casting on this movie for the last few weeks.

Bad Teacher stars Cameron Diaz as a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her sights on a colleague (Punch) who is dating the school's model teacher. Sony says Timberlake will play a key role as a substitute teacher, the "scion of a watch fortune." Okay - so with Segel is playing the gym teacher and Higgins the principal, do we still not have our hottie male teacher? Columbia President Doug Belgrad commented: "With Justin, Molly and Eric, joining Cameron, Jason, Lucy and the rest of this dream comedy cast, we couldn't be more excited about this movie. We love what we've seen of Justin's performance in David Fincher's The Social Network and he is a perfect match for this role."

I am ashamed to be associated with this poor excuse of an actor... his tunes are not bad from time to time, but his acting and nearly every film he has been associated with his tanked. Shrek 3 was the only an exception and the only reason he received the voice over gig was because he was boning Cameron Diaz at the time. I wish he would just shave me off completely... oh the shame.

I think timberlake is a good actor, he was great in Southland Tales and pretty good in Alpha Dog, so I'm cool with this.
  • The Hornet King
Haven't seen too much of Timberlake's acting, but from what I have seen, I like him. His only real performance that I've seen is in Alpha Dog, which is a very mediocre movie. But honestly, of all the young, talented actors in that film, (Emile Hirsch, Anton Yelchin, etc.) I was most impressed with Timberlake. His performance was the most believable and genuine, and he has great presence. It is no coincidence that he is as famous as he is, and I actually feel quite confident that, if he wanted to, he could establish himself as not only a box-office draw, but a talented and likeable actor. Just my two cents.

Eh doesn't matter to me. He isn't the worst actor ever, but he isn't that great. The plot sounds kinda dumb though.

Guys don't forget about his performance in Black Snake Moan, a very underrated movie. He brings a lot of energy into every role I've seen him do. Hell, I even thought he was hilarious in The Love Guru and that was the worst damn movie I've ever seen. He was the stand out in Southland Tales in my opinion and was very good in Alpha Dog. The guy's a good actor. Why the hate for Justin Timberlake, Alex?
  • I like Timberlake in "Alpha Dog", I thought he was pretty good to be honest. But I must agree w/ Hornet King, it was a pretty mediocre movie to begin with. Regardless, I'm down w/ Timberlake. He's got a good presence going on. Not like Ashton Kutcher which is a complete fuck up in everything I've seen him in - except "Butterfly Effect", that was pretty good.

Echoing xerxs comment once again...he was awesome in Southland tales and the only good part about Alpha dog. He does have a very good screen presence and I hope he gets cast in a lot more movies to come so he can lose the stupid boy band name that everyone uses to get down on him.
  • he does have an emmy lol.

I don't care for Timberlake's music, but he is the classic triple threat and haters will be put on notice after this movie. Dude is pretty funny too! I want to see more of these guys who can sing, dance, and act. Like Sinatra and Crosby of old! Bring it baby!

Please don't be stupid people. If you look at what type of movie this is, it's a comedy. Have any of you seen him on Saturday Night Live or in any commercials? He's going to be fine in this movie because he can act out some comedy.

Alex, I believe JT is the hottie male teacher. The sub teacher happens to be the hottie Bad Teacher sets her sights on because he's heir to a watch fortune.
  • Huckly
Having read the script I can say JT could actually do a funny turn as the character is kinda a jackass nice guy who hands out high-fives to kids.

Haters, I repeat previous statements, He was cool in previously stated movies and f'n funny on SNL. His music isn't my thing but dude's talented.
