Lawrence Kasdan's 'Darling Companion' Gets Impressive Cast
Though the screenwriter behind such classics as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi had a hand in crafting the script for Alex Proyas' next directing gig with Paradise Lost, previously Lawrence Kasdan hadn't written or directed a film since the '03 adaptation of Stephen King's Dreamcatcher. However, Variety has word on a new directing job for Kasdan from a script he also wrote with his wife Meg Kasdan. This new indie, Darling Companion, has Richard Jenkins (Let Me In), Diane Keaton (Morning Glory, Family Stone), Kevin Kline (The Conspirator), and Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men") providing their acting talents.
The film focuses on a woman (Keaton) who loves her dog more than her husband (Kline), and the drama that ensues after he loses the dog after attending a wedding at their vacation home in the Rockies. The married writers previously wrote Grand Canyon (Kasdan also directed it) which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. It's been seven years since a Kasdan project, but with a cast like this, I'm hoping for a return to his former glory. I'm just glad that his last film isn't going to be Stephen King's Dreamcatcher (how many people liked it?). With great films like The Big Chill in his past, I'm hoping for a return to his former quality in writing and directing. Interested?
