Mark Strong Lands a Role in 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' Film
As if the ensemble cast of Gary Oldman, Colin Firth & Tom Hardy wasn't reason enough to be interested in the adaptation of John Le Carre's spy novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy from director Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In), another actor has joined the mix. The Daily Mail reports (via The Playlist) that Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass) has landed an unknown role in the thriller about a big spy hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova also joins the cast, however, another previously announced actor may no longer be involved at all. Read on!
In both this recent news involving Strong, and the last announcement of Tom Hardy replacing Michael Fassbender, there's been no mention of Ralph Fiennes still being involved in the project despite his joining the cast back in July. If Fiennes has been switched out for Strong then that's quite an even-handed replacement since the two not only look somewhat similar, but they also have each enjoyed villainous roles as of late. Hopefully this role will see Strong as anything but a villain, but either way, his joining this cast makes this look like a very promising thriller.
