Michael J. Fox

Yesterday the internet was all abuzz with the first video footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, the original actor who shot scenes on Back to the Future for five weeks before Robert Zemeckis and the producers decided to replace him with Michael J. Fox. Well the hits for the classic sci-fi flick just keep coming this year. In addition to the special screenings of of the film exclusively at AMC theaters later this month, it looks like there will be a 25th anniversary reunion staged at Spike's 2010 Scream Awards. To promote the show, Michael J. Fox appears in a shot-for-shot remake of the original teaser for Back to the Future.

Watch the original 1985 teaser trailer for Back to the Future here:

In typical teaser trailer form at the time, the original trailer was shot specifically as a tease for the film with no footage from the actual movie. Shots of the time traveling DeLorean are shown in small bits and pieces until we get our hero shot in those aviators. We've embedded the original teaser with the re-shot trailer for comparison, and it's absolutely perfect. This makes me miss seeing Michael J. Fox in films and on TV more often, and now I have to watch the Scream awards for the reunion. You can check out the reunion and the celebration of sci-fi, fantasy, comics and horror on October 19 when Scream 2010 airs on Spike. Cool, eh?

Wow this is the first forum I've read where it's all positive and why not. BTTF was a masterpiece and perfectly cast. Michael J. Fox, Crispin Glover, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas Wilson and the music, was a perfect fit, especially Huey Lewis & the news. Everyone who makes movies now should take note. Great script, great cast (good actors), great directing, = A movie for the ages.
