This just keeps getting better. Hollywood Reporter just announced that actress Rose Byrne is currently "in negotiations" to join the cast of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, which begins shooting in London at the end of this month. Byrne will reportedly be playing Moira MacTaggert, the love interest of Charles Xavier (played by James McAvoy), who we also actually saw briefly in X-Men 3 (she attended Professor X's funeral - sorry for the spoiler). While Moira isn't a mutant herself, she's a scientist who studies mutants and is an authority on genetic mutation. I'm loving this cast, Byrne is a great actor and is very easy on the eyes.
We also reported earlier today that Vaughn regular Jason Flemyng would be playing Azazel, a mutant who is father to Nightcrawler of X-Men 2. First Class stars McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Lucas Till as Havok, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, and Kevin Bacon as the yet-to-identified villain. I've got to hand it to Vaughn, Fox and Bryan Singer, as they've rounded up quite an impressive line-up of young actors. I'd even consider most of them underrated and I'm now very excited to see this with all of them. What about you?
