True Grit Trailer

Biggest mistake you ever made… This new full-length theatrical trailer for the Coen Brothers' True Grit debuted in theaters this weekend in front of The Social Network and has finally made its way online thanks to Yahoo. True Grit is a remake/re-adaptation of an old John Wayne western which was based on a Charles Portis novel. Jeff Bridges stars along with Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Barry Pepper and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld as the tough-as-nails Mattie Ross. I loved the first teaser but this trailer is even better - love the music and build up and everything. True Grit looks like one of the best films we'll see this year. Can't wait!

The Coen Brothers' True Grit, which is apparently a more faithful take on the Portis novel, is about a young girl (Steinfeld) who's father is murdered. Determined to bring the killer to justice, Mattie enlists the help of a hard-drinking U.S. Marshal (Bridges) to track down the killer before a Texas Ranger (Damon) does. As a fan of the Coen Brothers and someone who can still appreciate a good western, this is one film I'm certainly looking forward to, at the least because we get to see Jeff Bridges kickin' ass on horseback! Paramount has already scheduled True Grit for release on Christmas Day, December 25th. Watch the teaser trailer here.

give Barry Pepper more screen time in the next trailer! Now that was just awesome. cannot wait!

2

the scene where Mattie is tossed into the shaft...I just gotta say from what I saw of the fall she took it looks very realistic. I'm a fan of a good fall in a film, and this seems to be one of the good ones!

This trailer makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Is the western back?

5

love Damon's accent. Bridges makes acting look so effortless...can somebody sit him down for a damn interview and pry his brain about his process

talli on Oct 4, 2010

6

Bridges seems perfect for this. @#4 I got that same feeling too! =)

That Johnny Cash tune is too good. I think too good to be in a trailer. I like that it means retribution will be hammered out though. Yee haw.

Crapola on Oct 4, 2010

8

LOL Matt Damon sounds like Matthew Mcconaughey

Rummie on Oct 4, 2010

9

@Rummie I actually think that was McConaughey in the very beginning of the trailer? We all know Damon can do a perfect McConaughey.

When my son give me the heads-up on this little project, I figured no way I was going to waste my time when it hit the theaters. I'm certainly old enough to be lured in by a western but I couldn't bare to watch the original and I didn't think even the Coen's could breathe life back into that turkey. Jesus guys, if you're going to resurrect the dead pick a better corpse. I just finished watching the trailer (reluctantly). Damn. You know crow doesn't taste that bad after the first few bites.

@97.6 My father showed me this movie when I was young, and when I first heard about I was kinda mad about it, but after watching the trailer I was sold, the dad would have been sold to.

WOW! that trailer was too EPIC! for words. I'm deffentially considering seeing this in theatres now and I have never seen a Western in theatres. I don't even really like Westerns that much.

Replacing "The Duke" with "The Dude."

22

looks good - but, can't hollywood come up with some NEW stories? too many remakes, nowadays.

beavis on Oct 4, 2010

23

I agree beavis, there is so much potential out there, hollyweird has just gotten lazy. passing on original scripts for fear it would flop and going with the same old horror/porn/bad-directing/bad writing/and the all time favorite bad acting/ films that a make millions! they have finally done it! they made the audience mentally handicapped!

Xerxex on Oct 4, 2010

24

was that a bear riding a horse? because that is the only way this movie could be any more awesome, thats bonus points

I liked it, dont get me wrong, but the teaser was 10 times better.

And the nominees for best picture of the year are: Inception, The Social Network and True Grit! know that's a nail biter.

Mayhem on Oct 5, 2010

31

Wow!now that is just brilliant trailer! can't wait to see this.the last western I saw was that Bale and Crowe one,it was also good,so westerns never disappoint! @16,true man, that Serious Man bullshit sucked balls!that was a useless movie to add on their good list, the Coens did!

jaws on Oct 5, 2010

32

Wow. speechless. This looks like it could go down as one of their best if this trailer holds up in it's full length. I love me a good western, haven't had one since The Proposition, Unforgiven before that and really 3:10 to Yuma was decent enough. The Coens' need to redeem themselves after Burn After Reading and the anticlimactic A Serious Man, which I was enjoying through it's taxing tempo. Plus as much as I like No Country for Old Men, the ending was a bit too vague for it's own good.

Johnny Neat on Oct 5, 2010

33

Brilliant! What an instant western classic should look like

indyjack on Oct 5, 2010

34

There's nobody better than John Wayne. I would have been reluctant to step into his shoes if I was Jeff Bridges. But it looks like I'm gonna have a new acting hero. Bravo Mr. Bridges!!!

35

Coen Bros you assholes, why am I not in this? No movie is to be made without me in it. Who said you could make a movie without me?

Sam Worthington on Oct 7, 2010

36

Wasn't Propostion an Aussie or South African film? I know there was a Western feel to it but it wasn't really a Western was it? Has there ever been an Aussie Western or an SA one?

Hyper Dweeb III on Oct 7, 2010

37

Coen Bros. Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin, this is going to be brilliant. Did anyone else get a chill at the end of the trailer when Johnny Cash's voice sings out?

Tank Fuller on Oct 9, 2010

What Johnny Cash song was that in the trailer
