Let Me In Trailer

"I need blood to live." Deadline has posted the first international trailer for Overture Films' pseudo-remake of Let the Right One in titled Let Me In starring Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road). This trailer is going to be heavily scrutinized by any and every Let the Right One fan, but that's okay, it deserves to be. I've actually heard some good buzz from test screenings about this and although the trailer starts out kind of quickly, I started to really get into it by the end when it gets all crazy intense. The tone is a bit different than what I expected but I like what I'm seeing, so far so good Reeves! Watch the trailer below!

Watch the first international trailer for Matt Reeves' Let Me In:

A bullied young boy (Smit-McPhee) befriends a young vampire girl (Moretz) who lives with her guardian.

Let Me In is both written and directed by American filmmaker Matt Reeves, who's feature directorial debut was J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield but prior to that he directed episodes of "Felicity" and various other TV shows. This is a remake of Tomas Alfredson's 2008 film Let the Right One In, or more specifically a re-adaptation of the Swedish novel Låt den rätte komma in written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Overture Films is bringing Let Me In to theaters everywhere starting October 1st this fall. Does it look as good as you were hoping?

looks great, lots of weird images

    i dont feel it...
  • Logan
ok im a huge fan of the original and i was really angry they were doing an english remake but this actually looks good.
  • Raymond D. Douche
While it definitely does not look back, It was completely undeed in the first place. Why spending money on remaking a movie that is already perfect?
  • John Doe
Not bad. Not bad. Not at all. Nice!
  • Naninongg
The original film is brilliant. This on totally unnecessary.. the trailer looks the same as other horror movies..
  • oskar
why why why? shot for shot and far too try hard. WATCH THE ORIGINAL.
  • Tim
digging the ending with morse code
  • deadpool 72
it looks like its gonna be one of the better remakes of recent years, the original is a classic this won't be.but i think it will be still worth a look.
  • Daniel Felts
Didn't see the orig. Probably won't now.
  • Matthew
I was also angry at the thought of a remake. Original is on my PS3, but I must say. They did this justice. A bit of hollywood but still retains the original charm.
  • So. Unnecessary. I love this film, and have become somewhat of an evangelist for it, recommending it to non-horror fans for a truly unique look at the vampire mythos. I would rather them take a fraction of the money used to make this and spend it on promoting and marketing the original to US audiences. Pass.
  • eric
liked cloverfield, like chloe moretz, like vampires. I'm sold.
  • Scared S-less!!!
AM I the only one that thought the original was a little long, boring and downright silly at times?! I mean I liked the original but I'm not going to tell you it was perfect like some freaks in here. I liked the original because... well... it did have an original take on the vampire mythos; definitely a new type of vampire story, can't say it was a very scary movie; I would encourage everyone to watch it but it is NOT a perfect movie. I welcome this new re-make; I'm thinking this one could clean up what I felt the original lagged in. Plus after Kick-Ass, I am definitely a Chloe Moretz fan and am looking forward to seeing her bite the hell out of mad people.
  • SkaOreo
I liked the original movie, but a masterpiece? Hell no. God I hate when people just throw that word around. It's a great movie no doubt, but definitely not a masterpiece (or brilliant). On the trailer itself, it looks pretty good.
  • Eli
It didn't look horrible but i agree with number five and several others. It's not needed to perfect a story that was already sucsessfully captured on screen.
  • Max
Not too bad, it looks like there are some new aspects to it... Goes on the list to see!
  • Tester
agreed with #15.. Good movie, but nothing special. Trailer looks ok
  • Alex O
Fantastic casting. The music is terrible. I think they are trying to market off of this whole Twilight bs. The original story was more of a drama than a horror movie. I hope it does the original justice. I am afraid that it wont.
  • izzy
the whole manhunt angle looks so lame.
  • I'll have to see this. I love Let the Right One In but there was material left out from the book I hope they include in Let Me In. 7 Ways Matt Reeves could have shown his “affection” for LET THE RIGHT ONE IN:
  • Panda
Well the Swedish version was so bad, i can't understand why it got all the attention it did. I hope atleast the American version can do it better. But i bet it will just pass unnoticed by the most.
  • Dave L
Cripes. It feels as if half of the TV shows and movies these days are about vampires. When will this silly, adolescent preoccupation end? "I need blood to live." Yeah? Go fuck yourself. I need a non-cliched storyline to live, okay? Can you give that to me?
  • This gives me more hope, but I'm still skeptical that it will retain the core themes of the original. I'm hoping for a new enough twist that it stands on its own. The casting and production design seem very well handled, but I suspect the American producers will be unable to let it be as subtle as the original.
  • Jimmy Love
This sucks as bad as the original! what an atrocity!
  • Robbie
    Morse code at the end?
  • euphemist
The beauty of "Let the Right One In" was its ability to balance the eery with the relative innocence of the children, not to mention the visual brilliance. I really hope that this remakes keeps the integrity of the original by focusing on the friendship between the boy and girl as well as retain the stunning cinematography. The graphic scenes, while necessary considering the premise, should be minimal and not overtake the film. If they play up the violence and gore (which is what I gathered from the trailer), then it's just another horror flick that I most won't bother to see until it's on DVD. Btw, music for this trailer is just awful. Hope they consider different tracks for the US version.
  • Xerxex
Don't look at it as a remake, just another adaptation of the novel for American audiences. Two gifted young actors and a gifted director, makes me less worried about the movie being bad.
  • jay
    The original was incredible.
  • nem
I'll only watch it because of the girl actor, she was great in Kick Ass, and I have a feeling this movie will be quite as good.
  • lamar
So...kinda like Twilight except the characters are younger, the girl is the vampire, the theme is murder rather the romance, the tone is much MUCH darker, and their are no sorry excuses for werewolves running around with their shirts off. I'm in.
  • Slash
    What's the music?
  • Kevin
I like it, i like it alot.
  • Well, I didn't see the original but I will before I see this movie. Although, from what I've heard from my bros who saw it they say it is amazing and until I see the movie I have no opinion (except that from the trailer it looked awesome). I actually liked the music in the trailer. It may not fit the movie itself but as trailer music it keeps people who would otherwise be bored, interested. I will be definitely be seeing this movie when it hits JA theaters (if it ever does) but will def take my time to watch the original b4. BTW, The morse code translates into HELP ME which I think is cool as it may be the boy trying to get a msg out or sumthin
  • I like the original, and I like both of those child actors. I'll go see it.
  • Voice of Reason
I dunno....feels like the mirror-effect that lost people on the PSYCHO remake. Too soon, too similar....BUT, I cannot help but be intrigued. I think it's a good trailer and feel as though they'll be sure to add something different, but it just feels a bit....redundant?
  • coswell
Seems like Americans/Hollywood are so stupid that they cannot watch a good movie without subtitles.. JUST DUB THEM IF ITS THAT HARD. This is just ridiculous. Even if i really like the fact that girl from Kick-Ass and the boy from The Road got the lead in a movie like this... I hate the idea of making remakes of movies which just came out. I still "KIND OF" understand why Hollywood is making remakes of like idiotic old cult movies; people are nostalgic and they make money. The trailer didnt look half bad, but the fact that its a remake of a 2009 movie, which was already SUPERB... im just gonna download it, hope it goes straight to DVD, so i dont have to wait for long.
  • Pete
See the original. It's awesome. This looks like crap like every other American remake.
  • Fred
I loved the original i hope this one is just as good Dave L that was funny as hell "I need blood to live." Yeah? Go fuck yourself. I need a non-cliched storyline to live, okay? Can you give that to me?
  • samir
I don't want this movie to be the exact same as the original because then what is the point. This images in this are so faithful to the original that I can't get excited for this because I've already seen this movie. I'm curious to see this movie to see how much is the same, but not excited.

"Seems like Americans/Hollywood are so stupid that they cannot watch a good movie without subtitles.. JUST DUB THEM IF ITS THAT HARD. This is just ridiculous." You do realize other countries dub American movies right? why is it that another country can adapt a book, but if an American does it "oh the humanity." Get this American bashing nonsense out of here
  • Ellelena
Cool! Chloe will be great in this. She's the next Angelina Jolie for sure. And now hope she can prove that even more with this movie.
  • floppytall
Am I the only one that saw Hannibal Lecter pop up when the boy put his ear to the wall about 17 seconds in?
  • sna
fuckk! it actually looks good !!!

    @44 you're not alone
  • wnkr
soooo how this is going to be a PG-13 i've heard something like that
  • chilin
@29 xerxex you said it pal...totally agree.
  • L1A
looks good to me. didnt find the original so great as it was made out to be >.<
  • Lar
Isn't that boy the one who did young Spock in the newest Star Trek?
  • Xerxex
coswell save it man, we've heard every possible negative thing about this remake. Why does this have to be deemed a "shitty american remake" and not an american adaptation of a popular novel? Thanks chilin.
  • H.H
who the Fuk wants to read subtitles..through out the movie? you miss half of it cuz ur too busy reading ...IM glad they did it in english
  • godius333

I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie, but was a foreign film. I don't mind a good foreign film, but most people can't relate to the foreign style, let alone the subtitles. As much as I loved the first one, I'm kind of glad they're remaking it for and American audience because amidst our current fetish with vampires is nothing but shallow and silly story telling. There's no real pain, no real horror. I'd be ok if they added some American edge to a shot for shot remake of the original because otherwise this story would never appeal to or reach a mass audience in America. What I don't want to see is a cheesy remake that turns this into some gory kiddie porn version of the original. But if they can keep that eerie, but sentimental storyline intact and add that American edge that we're accustomed to (the music in the trailer is an example of that) I think this could be a solid remake. At the very'll be better than Twilight. (not a Twilight hater, but for the depth and intensity of those books the films are complete trash)
  • Xerxex
@Godius333 because you touch yourself at night.
  • Phi;l
@Xerxex but it is a remake. This trailer looks exactly like it was taken from the original and rehashed as a dubbed American film. I won't judge it yet, I'll have to see it first, but just from this trailer, it looks extremely similar to the original film.
  • jimmey
looks like an absolute piece of shit. please oh please fail miserably. i hate american remakes watch the film as it was intended stop ripping off creative foreign films stop remaking anything!! hollywood sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Logan
@ Phi;l (lol wut) This is how people are reacting now (e.g. no. 53): NOOOOOO WHYYYYY this is how people would react if they made the movie NOT look like the original: NOOOOOO WHYYYYY @ Jimmey If you actually like the original then WHY would u want this to fail. You would want the remake to be faithful to the original but not WANT it to fail.. cmon man. The cast is great. Chloe Moretz is awesome and that kid from The Road is great too. Perfect casting. as long as they dont make this PG-13 i dont think i will be disappointed at all.
  • Acraig
I'm actually looking forward to this after seeing this trailer. It's just my opinion but the boy from the first one annoyed me.
  • Xerxex
I now its a remake Phi;l, but if looked at from a different prespective it seems less bleak.
  • arjones
I wanted to see the original and then forgot about it. Now I'm on a mission to see it. I'd like to see this one too.
  • YK
I don't hate remakes as a rule. Sometimes they're a great way of refreshing a solid idea that was poorly executed at the time due to budget, technology, director, etc. But Let The Right One In was a beautiful film, and entirely watchable by any audience. That makes this remake pointless and frankly a bit sad.
  • Fannygosh
What I really enjoyed about the original was the cinematography and how delicate the female lead looked. Although it is hard to tell in such a choppy, fast-paced preview, I don't think it resembles Let the Right One in accept in set design, which might be preferable. If I do decide to see this adaptation, I wouldn't wish to see an identical version with the only difference being the intended audience. If that were the goal, a cinematic release with dubbing would have done the trick. I admire that this seems to show something different and I look forward to seeing how the director captures the novel. A comparison to Let he Right One In is unjust. It's only a prevew!
  • Fannygosh
I meant except, not accept. I really hate those kinds of errors but I'm human and also typing on an iPhone
  • Nick
Original is so much better 1000x better but ill prob watch this one too.
  • I saw this at a test screening, and having seen the original I can safely say this movie is great. It's almost a shot-for-shot remake of the original. So while the Swedish version will always be king, this is a great way to bring it to American audiences.
  • Nuika
I really hope it turns out decent at least. I know it is too much to ask that it be magnificent like the original, soooo many thriller like movies are simply no good lately so I pray for this one. I look forward to watching it all the same though
  • asmirnov
anyone know the song in the trailer???
  • Zoli
I too would like to know the song used in the trailer. So far people have written its an unreleased song by Placebo that is made for the movie, others said it may be Eddie Vedder.
  • Matt
For a remake, it looks good. However, for an original horror film, check out this sizzle trailer:
  • Chris
@ 69 - where did you hear that from? I've been trying to track down the music from this trailer for days and haven't found anything. I love Placebo, that would be awesome. Anyone have idea what the song is?
  • Luke
This is going to be very good. It will be hard pressed to match the cinematography from the original (beautifully shot) but it has the potential to tell the story even better than the original. Chloe will do well in this part and I am excited to see her in it. To all you haters and doubters out there, don't just write it off because it's a remake of a great film. This movie can stand on its own and should be one of the best remakes in history. At least give it a chance! I'm very excited to see it.
  • Mars
good re-makes add something, this looks like an Americanized point for point plot progression reboot. Enough people saw the first one in the last 2 years, lets just be honest, there is absolutely no need for this to have been made. Creative ideas are what should intrigue movie goers. not... just... vampires... also, best remake is Cape Fear, same premise, completely different movie. that's how its done folks.
  • dougo162
the morse code is a clever visual--looks to have the same atmosphere as the original --which I'm glad this remake retained.
  • Kayleigh
The song is NOT by Placebo. It is without a doubt Thom Yorke from Radiohead. It could either be Radiohead or Thom Yorke solo. He has also sang for UNKLE so who knows.
  • Yunne
I found this about the background song: "The song is called "Limb to Limb" by a band called Fatal, although it's as-yet unreleased and doesn't appear online as far as I can tell, so unforunately you'll have to take my word for it" Sounds most likely than Placebo and Radiohead rumor!
  • Caleb
the music sounds exactly like music from a band called Mellowdrone. Surprising enough they also have a song called Limb to Limb.
  • Fisherr
  • Limb to Limb - Beyond fatal ? ..Does it replease??.. This song from that trailer so cool !!
