Must Watch: First Official Tron Legacy Teaser Trailer Debuts!

Disney has finally debuted the teaser trailer for Tron Legacy online. This is one of those drop everything, watch now kind of trailers. As excited as I am for Iron Man 2, I am even more excited for Tron Legacy. We didn't expect this trailer to be online this early, but the viral game from earlier was already solved, and here it is for your viewing pleasure in glorious high definiton at the viral site: program-glitch-esc.net. This is only a teaser and it's our very first look at any real footage from the movie, so don't be let down if you wanted to see more action. The song used in this is a Daft Punk song specifically made for the trailer as well. Enjoy!

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and is pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years.

Tron Legacy is directed by first-time filmmaker Joseph Kosinski. The screenplay was co-written by Adam Horowitz ("Lost"), Richard Jefferies (Blood Tide, Living Hell), Edward Kitsis ("Lost"), and the director of the original movie, Steven Lisberger. This first got the greenlight last year because this early teaser played well at Comic-Con. Disney is bringing Tron Legacy to theaters in 3D starting on December 17th, 2010.

Decent trailer. B The tech trailer released at Comic Con 2 years ago or so was the best representation of the reboot. Only time will tell. Tech trailer ruled A++ this one was just ok. Anyone agree?

Yeah...I dunno. I'm excited for the movie of course. i have high hopes. But all this trailer promises is a visual spectacular. And you know what else was a visual spectacular? Transformers 2. Wish they'd show more about the actual plot and characters. But it's still early.

When the girl strummed whatever that was like a guitar, for me the trailer hit the mark cause it gave me a Mad Max vibe. Considering it's been so long in there, who knows how crazy it may have gotten. The visual are spot on, and the choice of Daft Punk doing the music, Hanz Zimmerman move over, lol well just for this title... and Jeff Bridges, enough said. I never "got" into the Tron world, but I do appreciate it, Disney better not screw this one up. I'm not even thinking about this in 3d yet.

I have never seen the original Tron, but now I feel as if I have to. That is the best looking trailer I have seen in a long time. I am probably more excited about this movie than any other movie this summer. That is above Iron Man and even The Last Air bender.

Fantastic teaser...looks killer. Looks like it's going to be this year's Avatar, at least relative to how cool much of a benchmark it sets visually. It seems like this is going to have a decent amount of focus on plot and character though, I just get the vibe like there is more to this than killer visuals, although killer visuals will be a huge part of it, I'm sure.

oh, and to add to my previous comment, i still sit on Inception being the best trailer for all the new movies coming out. Inception my choice being that I have no idea who is who and what is really taking place. But Tron is so close, so close. My excitement is high, and I tell you, it's a great time to be a movie lover!

was that david bowie looking character Michael Sheen? if so, i wasn't expecting that, didn't even know he was in this. teaser looks great. daft punk score sounds like a perfect fit. this movie just moved up in my books, and now stands, beside inception and scott pilgrim vs. the world, as must sees this year. Now I'm really only curious to see how scott pilgrim looks in sight and sound. Tron Legacy was undoubtedly cool, but Pilgrim is the trailer I want.

Just spent $15 to see Alice in Wonderland in IMAX 3D (which was good, not great, but good - and to all the people who said the third act was fairly vanilla, how else was it going to go?) and damn it, there was no Tron trailer! NO TRAILER! Fred Schepsi is frickin' angry, and you wouldn't like Fred Schepsi when he's angry. What is the deal? I thought it was playing in IMAX. So disappointed. Also some stupid kid kept kicking the back of my seat the whole movie and there was a crying baby in the theater too (and no it wasn't me).

The score is what i´m really excited about, but i don´t really know if the movie will be that great, cause Disney´s involved and i was hugely disappointed by Alice... As a long-time fan of the original (which I watched again the other day) I never expected to ever see a sequel, but the seed was definitely sown with the 2003 game 2.0. It was kind of sad seeing the dusty Flynn's arcade... But wasn't the game Flynn played Space Paranoids? I guess he replaced it with the Tron machine after the events in the first film. Those touch surface keyboards and screens sure were ahead of their time too... Nice to see Bruce Boxleitner and Jeff Bridges back, but I hope to see more of their mature characters than just cameos - as well as Cindy Morgan!

No....same trailer shown before Alice, and it was in 3-D. Still not impressed and it has been over 20 years since the number was disconnected. 28 years to be exact if the film takes place in 2010. If you were not "in" the orginal....28 years ago and saw it on the big screen, you won't get it and you will not be that impressed. What Disney did 28 years ago was very cool. This just seems more of the same in 2010..............28 years later.

Everything about this trailer and movie--right now--seems incredibly fresh. The vibe is excellent. That trailer leaves so much to be seen, but I'll be damned if I said I wasn't excited. Daft Punk fit the bill perfect. Is it me, or does anyone else think this movie will be diabolical? Good step forward.

And stop moaning about lack of story line - what does TEASER mean, huh?! Sheesh! Sean: "OMG, OMG, OMG!" Ha, those were my exact words in an email to my husband, I couldn't get more coherant than that. "never seen the original Tron" To livingword and any others young-uns, Tron (the original) is an amazing film. It may fall a little flat on younger people but I heartily suggest you give it a go, if only to get the backstory before this new film comes out. I'm 30 and must have first seen it in the late 80s, at around 10 years old, and even then it was a good few years old, but the concept just blew me away and hasn't diminished (for me) over the years. I remember before the PC game, Tron 2.0, came out the rumour mill went crazy about the possibility of a follow up film but, from the looks of it, I am heartily glad it hasn't happened until now. 3D?!! Happy as a pig in you-know-what. Tron 2.0 was great too, BTW, if you can get hold of it... shame they can't port it to the iPhone to add to the hype.

Looks promising, but that's all. Still unsure of how it will turn out. The bike driving at the beginning made me think "Oh great, another teenage dropout movie." Then the rest of it lifted my spirits. The music, the atmosphere, it's all there. Just hoping everything else is there to go along with it. The teenage cast might ruin it, but after seeing Star Trek, I'm willing to give this a chance. Try not to mess this sequel up Disney. As for the original, cheesy, but very entertaining. I still like the graphic style they used to this day.

Tron world is not the same as the one from the original! Actually, it's totally different server and, obviously, something called virtual evolution happened. It's expanded universe now, without rules, they're racing of the grid, world has much more colors (Tron ending, remember?) etc. So, stop whining, this is just a TEASER and we have to wait 10 months to see this... Saw this with Alice in 3D. It seemed to missing some 3D unless it only went 3D in the computer world. That would make sense I guess. It's better now because it goes pretty fast and you have to watch it more than once to catch everything. I have a question, probably to early to know the answer, who is the bad guy? Is Flynn crazy now? In the original it was captured banking programs that were sent to the grid to fight. This is why they all lost. The MPC and Stark were trying to take over all the computers. Unless Flynn is now trying to do that I don't see a reason for the games. I don't want them to be gone it just seems that they aren't being used the same this time, maybe. P.S. LOVE TRON!

First Tron than a while later Hackers those were great sci-fi+soft cyber-punkish movies of my teen years.(hey i am aware that Blade Runners is the holy Book, i know ) the sequel to the Hackers was not a success but Legacy looks so sweet it makes my teeth ache the visuals really are up to the original ones intent and also Bridges is also in it so it really is a sequel imo, i hate when sequels dont have the core characters / faces from the original.

Tron was fantastic. All you young-us as a previous poster said, can't really remember what a buzz Tron caused back in the 80's. Wasn't a great big hit, but obviously a fun, coool movie. Disney was gutsy to do it, and they did a great job! I just hope they aren't afraid to give us a killer light show...A good story would be great, but with this type movie...I mean, it is a video game! Let it rock!!!!

Why are all the characters in the computer wearing cotton suits with a few parts of their bodies have lit up parts lit up and all of their hair is showing? This is just real people in a CG city, no where do the characters in the computer look like they are from the computer, people wearing cotton pjs?

Ok I take back what I said, in the original Tron everyone was wearing cotton pajamas. There was a sexy female character in the original who was red, who had hair exposed. But I still think the characters here are not lit up enough with colors all over their bodies.

I actually enjoy watching movies by myself..you can sit anywhere and I get to develop my own feedback before sharing it with others. Peoples opinions and energy and excitement can easily influence you into thinking you watched an awesome movie only to get home and realize otherwise...

FINALLY! I'm with GEOFF below me (maybe it's our names) but I am literally teary eyed watching this. Brings back childhood memories of watching TRON as a kid and being amazed and infatuated with computers, video games, the light cycles, the discs, everthing about this movie. It's so worth the wait to finally see them bring this back to the big screen with the original cast. AND CLU PLAYS A HUGE ROLE! I can't believe it. I can cry about this I'm so damned happy. Thank you DISNEY. If even this movie sucks, the trailer alone is worth the excitement to see ALAN and FLYNN back on the big screen, together, back in the machine. I love it. The recognizer looks utterly amazing. Not thrilled about the light cycles but who cares. TRON II - nearly 30 years in the making!

About the smoke in the machine world and the characters looking like people in a CG city, it's been 28 years in the video game world. Go back and look at the Atari 2600 you were playing in 1982, and look at the PS3's & XBOX 360's out now. The computer world looks different because the graphics engines are better! And speaking of graphics, they either cloned Bridges, found an incredible look-a-like, or did some insane CGI magic for the CLU character. My girlfriend & I did a "HSWTF!?!?!" When we saw him!

Mr. Steven Lisberger Its been a long time at 40 its good to feel like a teenager again its always in us. This shows us that there is still persons out there with that special timeless talent of youth and imagination. Its about time we step back to the "Classics" of Sci Fi They will never die! NEVER!
