Netflix Instant is Now Available on Your iPhone and iPod Touch

Well after months of it only being available for iPad users, Netfix has finally come through on its promise to deliver Netflix Instant to the iPhone and iPod touch this summer (even though school has already started, summer doesn't end until September). With the newest update for the Netflix app software, anyone with a Netflix subscription and an iPhone or iPod touch device running iOS 3.13 or later will be able to stream all available instant library titles right to the palm of their hand. The streaming is available only over WiFi and the 3G network. But also remember, every time you watch a movie like this, Roger Ebert cries on the inside.
In addition, the app lets your look through your queue, search genres and new arrivals and even save/delete items from your instant queue. The only downside is that it apparently does not allow for organization or even viewing of your DVD queue. Obviously this isn't that big of a deal since many will simply be concerned with streaming movies and TV to their handheld device, but it's still a shortcoming that needs to be rectified sometime down the road. Combine this news with the fact that a whole shitload of titles will hit the Netflix Instant library next week (stay tuned for our update) as part of their deal with Epix, and we'll have plenty to keep us busy while we're on the go. Thanks to Engadget for the press release and alerting us to this update.
