I imagine that only a few of you have seen Swedish actress Noomi Rapace in the Millennium Trilogy, even though her name is being thrown around a lot nowadays. It's a bit crazy that someone barely anyone knows is getting a lot of big roles, but she is a talented actress, so why not. 24 Frames is reporting that Rapace has booked a role (not still pondering) in the upcoming dark thriller The Last Voyage of Demeter, about the journey of Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to England. They say that Rapace is "set to come aboard" and will also be joining Ben Kingsley. However, an actor for the actual lead role in this still hasn't been cast.
There are quite a few Dracula projects on the horizon, but I'm guessing that since Alex Proyas' Dracula Year Zero still isn't ready to start shooting, Phoenix Pictures is pushing forward with The Last Voyage of Demeter instead. Austraian director Stefan Ruzowitzky, of the Oscar winning film The Counterfeiters, is set to direct this project, with the team behind Shutter Island producing. Rapace will be playing a stowaway on the boat, which according to legend arrived at its port with no survivors, meaning the vampire "made a little mayhem," as the LA Times says. I like how dark this story sounds, and I'm all for Rapace and Kingsley joining the cast. Let's just hope they can actually this shooting before too long. We will keep you updated!
